People here are commenting tht so called rich place of mumbai does not look rich .. well thts mumbai.. here someone standing next to u might be a billionaire & u wont even come to know...i knew a very rich CA though not a billionaire but was very rich...he used to carry lakhs of rupees in a jhola (cloth bag).. here people dont believe in show off..some struggling actress or actor might be showing off to get a role or media attention, but truly rich dont show off. Look at Rakesh jhunjhunwala.. he appears like a small shop owner. But we all know who he actually is! Mumbai is the city of endless opportunities. All major international offices, stock market, jobs is in Mumbai. Hence even a small house is so costly in Mumbai.

Do you know what is the total land area of China as compared to India? No elections happen in China, no free press or judiciary or NGOs acting as roadblocks. No opposition political parties running their agenda. No foreign interference. Congress ruined India and now Modi govt is doing lots to bring things back on track. India got Nehru as PM when she needed Patel. He gave up UNSC seat for China, created disputes in Arunachal, Kashmir. We lost the Sino-India war. Here, LS elections happen every 5 years, then state elections. Look at opposition parties today, their sole objective is to unseat PM Modi. How do you expect India to develop quickly under such rogues? Let PM Modi declare India an autocratic nation and become the supreme leader like Xi. Everything will fall in place.

In south Mumbai its impossible to increase road as it is peninsula and superrich location on both sided of railway track & road in middle. Only way is costal road by reclaimation of sea. In western and central Mumbai, navi mumbai, Thane have wide roads because of land availability and peninsula becomes wider in this area. But south Mumbai its tightly constructed british area. The only way is to go verticle. Cost per sq. Feet here is more than 1 lakh rupees.

@@TheEnderPearl it's easy to say when the whole of India wants to settle in Mumbai. From the richest to the most poor. It brings more challenges to better the transport services as there is no land left now.
Mostly the poor population that have migrated from UP and Bihar and some other places have confiscated the land built sulms and now government has to beg and pled to get the public land back from them.
I'll tell you a fact you can check it, only only 27% of Maharashtrian live in Mumbai rest all are from outside of Maharashtra. And more than 90% of the population living in slums are non Maharashtrians, if we say give us our land back we are termed anti national 😅

Not everyone likes ultramodern spaces, Mumbaikar have lot of ultramodern spaces, we like 90 vibe and malabar is just that.
Plus mumbai is 27% mumbaikars/maharashtrian and 73% outsiders, i think if you take the majority load of a country with no land available to expand this is bound to happen.

Mumbai is a mess because of Nehru's License Raj and Indira Gandhi's Bank Nationalization. Because of these industry strangling moves, private industry and private sector growth collapsed throughout the country.
Few people know that the Indian economy went through a remarkable economic boom after independence. And people were generally far more honest and sincere. Growth was fairly well distributed throughout the country and until the early-mid 1970s, parts of Mumbai were actually very nice.
I remember Malabar Hill and Altamount Rd being as nice as Singapore. They were lovely places to live. Not a single building looked dirty or shabby. When Colaba reclamation first came up, the flats were very modern and there were no slums to be seen anywhere. It was a nice and neat area for the rising middle class,
But over time, many small businesses couldn't make it work and only the Congress cronies and the very corrupt thrived. Gangsterism and crime mafias exploded. City after city went into precipitous decline. Kolkata suffered the most as the Naxals and the Communist unions made things far worse.
The 1950s were full of hope. India had the potential be an Asian tiger and Eisenhower was offering India a European-style Marshall Plan and a seat on the UNSC. Idiot Nehru chose Maoist China and Soviet Russia.
The results are now there for everyone to see.
And millions still vote for the family that literally ruined the destiny of the nation. And now, we have dozens of clones of that family - each out to build their regional empire and keep the nation from achieving its true potential.
