    Great video man. Been awhile since I bought digitally and all this Amazon stuff happened since then and it was very confusing. This helped a lot and pretty much solidified me just buying the old fashioned way ha

    Just today, I tried to buy the first volume of "the Rise and Fall of the Trigan Empire" and failed... could not find a way to purchase it digitaly so... (and because I was just too pissed at Amazon), I called my older comic book shop and (hopefully) I'll be able to get it the old fashon way. but Comic on Amazon is just pure crap... and I refuse to use kindle. My guess is that the days of Comixology are numbered and soon Amazon will try to repplace it with their kindle apps.
    This is usually what is happening when you deal with a monopole corporation.

    Thanks for cluing me in to other sites. And the fact that Amazon lacks the technology to enable a zoom function. I never bought an ebook or "e-comic" before and had to do research to find out what I'm getting into. I wanted an old indie comic that amazon says is $150 in paper and $1 online. I could only find it with the ISBN. Even though it's only $1, I generally try to avoid amazon because they are known for greedy business practices, and I plan to buy a bit more. I figured out I can buy pdfs from antarctic press which publishes Fred Perry's Gold Digger series. Not sure how it works but I guess I'll find out.

      Glad I could help! Yes most publishers allow online physical and digital sales of their titles. Antarctic Press doesnt have all their titles digitally, but since it’s their most popular title they do have a lot of gold digger issues available digitally. Thanks for watching!

    How can we make the suggestion to Amazon to make an app so we can access purchased comics to read on a t.v. or Amazon Prime so I can read my collection while doing my treadmill and read it on a big screen using the controls to turn the pages?

      You can you can try to put in a complaint in amazons website but tweeting at them might work as well. You can use their cloud reader, but as I show in the video it’s not ideal for comics. Thanks for watching!

    Yeah so it’s now multiple apps and I’ve yet to figure out how to load comics into kindle. Absolutely mind boggling

    • @planestrainsandcomicbooks

      The only way I’ve been able to use the kindle app is to purchase or borrow the comics you want from the actual Amazon website. You can’t use the app to purchase. Then, after purchasing or borrowing, when you open the app the title should be in your kindle library. Hope this helps

      @@planestrainsandcomicbooks Yeah but that process is broken. The entire comixology section (once you even figure how to find it) it’s glitched out in 1-2 ways consistently. It’s so clear they aren’t putting any labor into it. I bet not a single human being alive is working for / on it. And it shows. So digital comics are done for the average person. Unless your gonna pay for both the big brands , then buy alllllll the indie comics. I would have no issue just paying 30 bucks a month full access all comics. And I bet a lot of people would do the same. It’s not a matter of not liking hard copies it’s a matter of 50 years of collecting at some point space runs out no matter how many times I get a larger home.

      @SticksAandstonesBozo yes Amazon has ruined comixology for sure. For digital indie comics I would suggest GlobalComix. They recently made an app, and they have acquired the rights to many of the other indie publishers libraries. As of right now they have image, boom, dynamite, awa, and many other publishers, all with growing libraries of each. It’s not perfect but it’s the only place I know that has that selection. The main downside is their app and site has not figured out the best way to organize it all. Sometimes it feels a bit overwhelming and I get lost in everything available. On the upside I was able to read all of department of truth, and volume 1 of newburn and dead Romans. I think the monthly subscription is 7.99$ a month or you can buy them on the app al a cart. www.globalcomix.com/

    I can’t seem to read my comics in vertical mode on the app. Is there a way to do that (ex. I hold my kindle vertically, but the comic is rotated horizontally)

    • @planestrainsandcomicbooks
      @planestrainsandcomicbooks  6 месяцев назад +1

      Yes, in the settings there should be a way to change it to vertical. My kindle reads vertically so I know this is possible.

    Does anybody know a app that can read out loud digital comics from Comixology?

    • @planestrainsandcomicbooks
      @planestrainsandcomicbooks  8 месяцев назад +1

      I’ve never heard of an app that does that. I do have a podcast called John Constantine: A Hellblazer Podcast, where I’m reading every issue to the listeners.

      Yeah I didn’t get into the Marvel and DC apps cause I was mostly thinking about reading newly released stuff, and with the Marvel and DC apps you have to wait like 1-3 months before you can read the comics that came out this week.

      @@planestrainsandcomicbooks oh also for your “crammed in one page” part. Marvel does that too. But i find it easier if you turn it sideways. Then it rotates (unlocked of course)

    • @planestrainsandcomicbooks
      @planestrainsandcomicbooks  2 года назад +1

      Oh yeah, in the kindle app for tablets and phones you can turn it sideways too, but if you’re reading it on the computer like I do for my review videos there’s no way to “rotate”.
