❤ what do you think Canan Kax is based on? Yggsrasil was a double helix dna, Tuuru wooden plants/trees, Eyam on a trilobite or arthropod but what in the heck is Canan Kax? A mammal heart? @@planestrainsandcomicbooks Thank you so much for responding! This made my day -- I am currently trying to come up with a list for the First 13 Elementals that they hinted at during the Moore/Veitch/Wheeler years and I feel like they never really showed us the rest haha. There is Yggdrasil, Tuuru (who, btw, contradicts heavily with the archetypal Tree of Knowledge seen in the Lucifer/Sandman books from the same timeline since all of this is Post-Crisis, Pre-Zero Hour). But I think DC skipped over Elements 4 to 7, gave us Canan Kax as No. 8, and then Matango as 13? We know Biffa is Matango's immediate successor (no. 14). Then there are The Great Phoenix and Thorn-Ohtehreh. Matango, I noticed, is based on the fungal kaiju film from the 60s (of the same name!) plus being compared to the one who corrupts Eden there is the suggestion that the worm-like being of Matango prior to Grey-ification (or as they say it in-text: Fungusized lol) that Matango was a simply snake? And biffa the first to bear legs? It's a fun exercise haha. But I am sort of stuck with Canan Kax's original form. Seed Pod sounds about right! The others sugested were the ancient insect meganeura (prehistoric dragonfly) and a eurypterid (the extinct sea scorpion), but I honestly don't see it as being that insectoid. A seed-pod furthermore justifies the "many voices" nature of his confusion. Maybe in his original form as a seed it is already privy to having multiple voices or minds or souls, so when he becomes a Green elemental, the other seed voices recede and are instead replaced by the Green's own memories. Pure conjecture on my part at this point, haha. Thanks again!

Issue #41 is the first issue of the dangerous habits story arc and the beginning of the Garth Ennis hellblazer run. The previous 40 issues were written by Jamie Delano and the end of that run is what I was explaining at the beginning of this episode. @planestrainsandcomicbooks 2 месяца назад

Oh dang you got far!!! I’ll be continuing to volume 3 once I finish re-recording the beginning of volume 2 in the same narrating style that the podcast became. Volume 3 follows his daughter Tefe when she’s a young adult. I was wondering how Tefe fit into your hypothesis? Like since she’s part, elemental, human, and demon.

    • @GoldenCup888
      @GoldenCup888 2 месяца назад

@@planestrainsandcomicbooks That's a great question. I still don't know if the character Tefe has any connection to my theory at the moment. I can see the clear alluding to, and connections from the swamp thing series, to the God of the bible and his Son Jesus Christ; who in the book of Revelation and in other parts of the New testament is called "The Word of God." The God of the bible Yahweh (or Jehovah) is being referenced in this series as "The voice." The voice through his Word (his pre-incarnate Son Jesus Christ) created all things. The evidence for this is found In 1st John verse 1-4, and verses 9-14, which says: "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning. Through Him all things were made, and without Him nothing was made that has been made. In Him was life, and that life was the light of men. The true Light who gives light to every man was coming into the world. He was in the world, and though the world was made through Him, the world did not recognize Him. The Word became flesh and made His dwelling among us. (This is when the Word incarnated in the womb of Mary) We have seen His glory, the glory of the one and only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth." More evidence of this is found in John 17:5 where Jesus says to his God and Father: "And now, Father, glorify me in your own presence with the glory that I had with you before the world existed." So Jesus is the Word of God through whom God the Father created all things. Then in issue #168 we have the Parliament of Stones talking to the Word of God, and they tell him that the powers granted to Swamp Thing, were a reward for his act of re-unting the parliaments. But that they also served a darker purpose... *They tell the Word that, "His mission now is to rid this world of your God (Jehovah: whom the Word serves) and his hateful followers."* Swamp thing is symbolic of the Beast from the prophetic visions of the book of Daniel and the book of Revelation; where we're told that the beast makes war with the Saints for 1260 prophetic days. The beast antichrist unites the nations of the world by deceiving them, and kills those who believe in the Word of God, and in the end makes war with the rider on the white horse who has a sharp two edged sword coming out of his mouth, who destroys the beast and false prophet by the brightness of his coming. He has many crowns on his head and is dressed in a robe dipped in blood, and his name is the WORD of God, on his thigh he has a name written: King of Kings and Lord of Lords. This is known as the 2nd coming of Christ, and is shown in the prophetic dream to King Nebuchadnezzar of ancient Babylon thousands of years prior... ...In the imagery of the stone that strikes & destroys the statue made of Gold, silver, bronze, iron, and clay, representing the 4 Kingdoms that arise on the earth before the return of the Messiah, to destroy the United nations, and set up his Millenial Kingdom on earth. We have the alluding & connections to the Great Lodges of Illuminati freemasons and their sister societies. We have the connections to a one world Champion (antichrist) who unites the World leaders/nations (symbolized by the different Parliaments being re-united) through deception, and how their purpose is to fight against the VOICE AND HIS WORD and to lead mankind to rebel against the creator (portraying him as evil) and making them believe they can attain Godhood through enlightment. This is the same trickery Lucifer used in the Garden of Eden when he tricked the Woman into eating from the forbidden tree, by telling her she would become LIKE GOD; and that she surely wouldn't die. It's clear he lied, since death came into the world through their error of eating the fruit of the knowledge of good and evil. The conclusion of the story up to the end of volume 2, differs from that of the bible since the Word of God is destroyed. I have my suspicions that the creators of this series could very well be part of the Society, and have shown us the plans of the elites in a subtle way throught their fiction superhero/Villian comic series. The story line is their symbolic version of bible prophecy, and what they are planning for behind the scenes. All this is my personal opinion and it's okay if others disagree. I'm looking forward to your narration of volume 3. In the meantime I picked up a new book titled "The Antichrist & a Cup of Tea" (600 pages) which shows the biblical prophetic and secular historical evidence that King Charles of the United Kingdom, is the biblical Antichrist who is uniting the world leaders as we speak through the ecumenical and green energy "save the planet" movements. As I previously mentioned, I believe the swamp thing is the green man of ancient folklore of various ancient civilizations, and the Spirit of the elemental fallen Angel Lucifer, who will rule the nations through one man before he's destroyed by the return of THE WORD of God.

Thanks for posting these Swamp thing comics. I just recently gained interest in these because of a theory of mine that "Swamp thing" is actually the mythical "Green Man" of ancient folklore in many ancient civilizations. I think that the Green Man is the elemental Spirit of the Antichrist. I believe that the Man of Sin and son of perdition who sits in the temple fo God claiming to be God, who is spoken of in the bible; is the human being who will embody the elemental Spirit of the green man/Antichrist, and rule the world as Leader by pushing the Green energy and "saving the earth" agendas which all countries are implementing. This man is uniting the World leaders under this "GREEN" narrative, and it seems that these comics were subtly telling us what was going to happen in the future. In case you're wondering who I think this man will be, it will be King Charles from Great Britian/United Kingdom. He has led the green movement behind the scenes since he became Prince and used the "Green Man" imagery in his invitations to world leaders. I know you might think I'm crazy but that's the reason I'm interested in these comics to see if I can find connections that will help us understand how it connects with bible prophecy, and help us understand what to expect in the future. When I was 5-6 years old I remember watching the cartoon and swamp thing became my superhero. Since then I've never again seen or read anything about this character, but now I'm more interested than ever before. I purchased the Saga of the Swamp thing which I believe is the Full Run of Alan Moore. Can you help me out and let me know where I can get these issues #1-19? Are these necessary in order to understand the Alan Moore Run which I think begins where the other comic author left off? Your help is greatly appreciated.

Wow that’s a very interesting take on what swamp thing could be. The only things that connect from issues 1-19 to Alan Moores run is the characters of Liz Tremaine and Dennis who appear in a later issue of Alan Moore’s run, and the death of Anton arcane in issue 18 is pretty important, because it shows how he got to hell. You might like the first 13 issues of it because they tie in with some religious themes of Judaism and the rise of the Antichrist and the 4th Reich. Not sure if that connects completely with what you’re theorizing, but it might.

I always figured that Jason never "came back" from his drowning as a 12 year old. I figured it was Pamela's wild, deranged spirit possessing the corpse over and over again. Which means that Freddy vs Jason was just Pamela having a fun first date with Mr. Krueger!

Yes! Right now there is a Conan series by Titan Comics, the same publisher as this Savage Sword of Conan issue. It is also great! I highly recommend it. There is a collection of the first story arc out, and I believe it is on issue 11 as of this week in single issues. If you’re a Conan fan it is a must read in my opinion.

I liked your review of the comic. What do you mean, you didn't like the Marvel original run? Is this comic a run of 6? I like that you're a Conan fan.

Thanks for watching! a comic run is is usually a large amount of issues done by one creative team or in this case, a publisher. I did not like much of the Conan and Savage Sword runs published by Marvel in the 2010's. The Conan and Savage Sword runs from Marvel in the 70's are fantastic though. I believe the Titan run of Savage Sword of Conan is slated for 6 issues, but if sales are good enough that could get expanded. I hope it does.

I would like you to discuss if Battlestar Galactica 2 episodes titled "The gun on ice planet zero" are the core inspiration for The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi screenplay. Galactica came in 1978 and you cannot avoid seeing the timeline and who came first with each idea.

I didn’t know that. Thanks for the info. I will have to check out the battlestar episode to compare them. I haven’t watched any of the 70s battlestar, only the one from the 2000’s.

@@planestrainsandcomicbooks Watch 1978 season as a normal audience. To me it is the best Galactica, despite its cheesy drama. They were writing it along the way, as studio wanted to release something quickly. Sometimes actors had to study pages that were written a few minutes ago. It has this 1970s scifi feeling. Then watch Galactica as a screenwriter, then watch the two Star Wars movies.

Hey man, hope youre well✌️ I initially saw this video and was about to comment before watching, but held off and im glad i did. I nodded my head throughout! Im a big Lovecraft fan but only this year did i realise him and Robert E Howard were good friends and inspirations to each others work! I decided to buy Howards Complete Conan storys in hardback and boy was i blown away with his prose and imagination! The hour of the dragon being his longest Conan story and best imo. But i loved them all. And to think Howard shot himself at 30 so almost everything he wrote and had published was in his 20's!?! Mental. What a genius of a writer who would have gone on to write so much more. Ive bought his complete Solomon Kane storys and his horror storys collection but yet to read. Loving comics as i do i looked at the Conan omnis by marvel but was put off by the art and writing...then realised Darkhorse had done a run which ive bought the first 7 trades. Yet to read but the art looks great. Ill be waiting for this comic run to come to tpb or omni down the line as it looks like my cup of tea. ✌️ Daz

Awesome story of how you got into the character! Howard was truly a visionary. For me the dark horse run stays great through the Kurt Busiek/Cary Nord run and the Tim Truman run that follows. Which I believe is at least 75 issues. I am really enjoying the current Titan comics run. Jim Zub really cares/respects and has a plan for the character. I’m not sure how they’re going to collect savage sword since it has multiple stories of Conan and other REH characters in it, but I’m sure they will figure it out. Thanks for the kind words and for watching!

@@planestrainsandcomicbooks I also think Howard and Lovecraft get too much flack for racism. When you peel beneath the surface Howard had Bipolar and was a product of his age. Living through the depression ( while struggling with his own ) of the 1920's into the 30's he saw vast amount of misery and poverty around Texas. He also wrote Conan and others through the ages where slavery was still clearly apparent. Howard could write in any genre and Iike Lovecraft created a new genre...sword and sorcery. Lovecraft was way more racist but again you look at why and you understand. Both his parents struggled with mental illness and both died in the same insane asylum as they were called back then. His overbearing mother relentlessly called him ugly from childhood on so the world appeared to him ugly and everyone in it. His genre defining Cosmic Horror was born from the existential dread he carried on his shoulders all his life. A recluse who rarely went out in the day but famously wrote over 100.000 letters to his writer friends ( including Howard...they never met ) battling his own demons and mental health Cosmic horror was birthed into the world. Lovecraft lived his prison life in fear. Every race was ugly. It was all his projection passed down by a dreadful mother struggling too. He never had a chance. Remarkable to think Howard ( 16 years Lovecraft's junior ) a strapping Texan Mans Man would become great friends with Lovecraft ( a waif, terrified sickly recluse ) but their remarkable writing astounded each other. In 1936 when Howard shot himself after finding out his mother would not be waking from her coma it would only be 6 more months until Lovecraft died of bowel cancer...the following year Tolkien released the Hobbit. Tolkien was asked once what he thought of Howards work...he said he loved Conan but found it very violent 😂 If you ask me Tolkien could have done with Howard writing his battle scenes in TLOTRings trilogy! I believe Howard influenced Tolkien in the World building department for sure! I love Tolkiens work but imo Howard had better prose. Still... geniuses all 3 writers who inspired so many and will forever more ✌️

Those volumes cover the entire busiek/nord run. The Truman run continues to volume 10. There’s a 12 issue arc called road of kings by Roy Thomas collected in 11-12 that was pretty good. I wasn’t a big fan of the Brian wood run contained in volumes 13-16. It does get good again with the Fred van lente and Cullen Bunn runs collected in volumes 17-22. I would also recommend the king Conan darkhorse series by Tim Truman.

    • @planestrainsandcomicbooks

I agree with your analysis. I find Howard’s characters being set in a distant land and time definitely helps make any racism in the text far less egregious. It’s more to make believable characters in the world he creates. I am a big fan of Tolkien but his books were put out as novels whereas Howard’s were published in the pulp magazines. This difference in publishing medium is the reason why Howard’s work doesn’t take its time getting g to the action and engaging parts. His stories had to grab the reader immediately to sell the magazine weekly. Tolkien on the other hand could take his time building the characters and take a long time building his world. Love them both. I have yet to read a lovecraft story. They’re on my list though. Just have to get the time to dig into them.
