Great stuff -- I'm sure it was quite the session. Site reading their music -- ok.
Not a fan of reading? They write so much material this is about the only way it could work. We’ve tracked 24 songs in less than a year and I know Mike easily has another 3 albums worth of material. They’re also in different cities while they are writing and this is how they send ideas and finalize songs. Honestly it’s quite helpful.
Nice set up with the Engl. Just a quick question as I struggle a bit with it. How differently do you EQ the lead sound in comparison to the rhythm one?
Well that really depends on the rhythm tones around the lead. On the amp it might be as simple as changing the gain or tweaking the mid/hi a bit to separate it from the rhythms. If I'm mixing I'll always eq the lead with the rhythms playing. I have found that to be the easiest way to find the right frequency to make the lead jump out over the rhythm guitars.
Honestly though I try to eq heavy guitars like this as little as possible.If we are successful in recording the tones we want it shouldn't take much eq when mixing. Usually a little cleanup and maybe a little extra presence or bite.
Awesome dude. !! Check out my channel for the stuff I recorded in my bedroom studio. I did drums guitar bass and keys and tracked it all on a 18 channel interface with very minimal gear. All ITB. I love this channel. Dude you have helped me so much especially with drums last few years.

Especially the mid/side drum room thing and running pedals through keyboards etc. I appreciate all the insight you have! I would love to have an actual studio space and a analog desk like a triton or API SSL etc. one day. Also killer drumming man. I used to tour as a session drummer for a few metal blade acts from 2007-2011. So I know a good player!
