According to Arrowhead documentary, Paradox Interactive was worse AND they stole their rights to work on Magicka.
The shitty DLC with negative reviews? The same guys who made that were given the privilege to make Magicka 2, not arrowhead.

Look at the country list. Despite being over 150 countries they dont make 1000 players. Trust me. Most of those listed countries are islands in the middle of nowhere with over 500 ping and could not play the game either way.
@@chettonex Trust you? Both HD1 and HD2 use peer to peer networking so the constant 500 ping situation doesn't happen. Even a 4-man party in Antarctica can play the game at relatively low latency

@chettonex stop making baseless claims. In my country alone, we had about 4.5k players(population 600k). Then we had French Guiana and Guiana who have more people than us! They also were playing helldivers II via Steam. Then you have the other 100 something other countries I didn't even name? Bruh there's a LOT of player numbers being executed by this.

like 260ish hours here. i thought it was "Required" for cross platform progress/cross-play. i was given a skip this step button when prompted to link my account. (I will NEVER own a sony account.) and SKIPPED the step. i do not want some sony AI crap banning me for shit i do out of their normal platform.

Also, the crashes were a major issue before all this, too. The game's losing players, not due to not enough new stuff, but due to lost rewards and crash/dc frustration.
It’s the only game I’ve played since I bought it in the middle of February.
I play on PS5, but just looking at it in my library gives me a sour taste in my mouth.
It's easier to handle player reports when you cut half of the players from the game
I`m from one of those countries you cant make a PSN account, and that game costed me 10% of my monthly income (after taxes). I`ve even bought some MT since I wanted to support the devs... If I knew I would not be able to play the game few monts down the line I would have never bought it in the first place, and from now on I will avoid EVERYTHING related to Sony.

They’ve said on discord they won’t prevent people from playing that have purchased. It is probably Steam that stopped sales because of all the refund requests they are getting.

@@bojangles11111 The psn account is a REQUIREMENT to play the game. Players on countries not psn supported will get fucked. Steam delisted it & issued refund to those players.

That latest Steam update didn't delist the game in EU countries that don't have PSN (The baltics + something I'm forgetting), for example.

Yeah, I think people here are being too sentimental just because the game is good. It's a company, and letting their community manager say what they did definitely hints they were okay with it, until shit hits the fan and they throw whoever under the bus to save themselves.
I think they do understand their position, which is why some of them are so giddy that can abuse their power even more. They’re petty little tyrants that want to abuse whatever power they’re allowed to have.
People also seem to forget that some people donated into the game, so not only they bought it, but also put some 100-200 bucks of extra donate money for skins and stuff and now they can't even enter the game.
Depending on play time, it's more around $50-70 but yeah I get your point.

176h and the most rudeness ive come across is 2 toxic players and 1 that said he hatec my Accent, the other 100+ players ive teamed up with were pretty chill and relax
302 hours of hosting only and I've only ever kicked 6 people total from my lobbies
Forty hours. Solo player only. Joined a lobby maybe two times and those weren't even bad. Got some friendly kills and deaths, and even then we worked together for bunkers and objectives with no voice coms.
I don't even care when pubs kill me anymore. Even intentionally.

1:48 typically for this kind of game it'd be handled between the publisher (Sony) and the distributor (Steam). It's even possible that Arrowhead doesn't have direct control/access to the game's Steam page (which would explain stuff like the patch notes on Steam not being up-to-date with what's posted in the discord).
Like microtransactions, most games don't have any control over how their microtransactions and dlc are handled and released. Have people ever wondered why all dlc always comes out within days or weeks of eachother?

I would stay away from ASUS. I love the look but their software is just terrible. Every asus I have built always have some asus aura sync issue with the gpu either not detected so the light just don't come on or revert to something else and you have to go into services and restart their aura sync service to get it to work proper. Asus looks beautiful by the way.
Go with MSI mother board their lighting software and other things are like mid at best and I wouldn't install any of it. Just get you a controller to control your lighting. LIAN LI is great, An then when it comes to peripheral's there is so many to choose from. WOOTING is a good brand. I use razer which I wouldn't suggest unless you're going to use a keypad like the ORBWEAVER or Tartarus. I prefer Corsair but they don't have a keypad I like. I thought about modding my old orbweaver to work with Icue but that is a project for a different day.
Don't even get me started on the modding scene from games and stuff. Jays2cents is a great channel and so is gamersnexus I hope you build something amazing.

EVERY change as been made to make every mission a max-timer slog against relentless foes of uncountable numbers (until the end screen stat page).
While the game I fell in love with was a fair and firm experience with a mix f tension and exploration /downtime and enough challenge throughout so many enemies that I need to non stop retreat and reload lest I be overwhelmed by more foes than I have ammo and cool-downs to deal with.
Plus the gunners have WAY too many overlapping debuffs and kill potential for a “tackler” enemy type. Those should be confrontational and annoying but NOT able to isub-second nstall kill.
Hell I can’t even find a map with open fields of vision anymore as 90% of them are fog/spore/storm covered so I’m fighting in the soup non stop.
Yeah I feel that. I still like the game, but I liked the flow of the launch version better, with regards to enemy numbers and reinforcements.
I am willing to accept the argument that other people might like the current state - So my proposal would be that the game could use an overhaul of the difficulty settings, to make it more granular.
To that end, maybe operations could generate with separate difficulty ratings for various aspects? You could choose the one you like best, and because you have this information, you could also make decisions accordingly. For example, these aspects could be:
- Objective complexity - How many steps the main objective takes (The way this is currently handled is sort of bad in and of itself, because the versions with the most steps are usually the most fun/interesting and give you the best chance to strategize, but they only exist on Helldive).
- Strategic complexity - How many modifiers the operation has.
- Enemy presence level - How many static enemies are on the map at the start, and how in-depth their defenses are (Larger bases, more enemy side objectives).
- Enemy quick response forces - How large, dangerous and frequent enemy patrols and reinforcements are.
- Enemy force composition - What sort of units you'll be facing up against, and how frequent the elites are.
- Weather conditions - How severe and frequent the planetary hazards are.
If nothing else, "Enemy force composition" should probably be visible info, since it would solve a lot of issues with the current meta (Where people like to run the most flexible and universal weapons, because they don't know what enemy types they'll actually need to fight).
yeah I totally agree with the increased enemy presence. It really does feel like you get overwhelmed really easily if you don't retreat from everything. Especially on Automaton missions where it's not exactly all that entertaining to constantly be fleeing from enemies, not unless you wanna get riddled with bullets or grilled instantly.
When the gangs not around, I would go medium 3 for supercredits. Each mission would have 90-128 kills solo.
Now, there minimum of 390 to 580 bugs on a medium level 3.
The funny thing is...I think this also applies in a 4 man team too, because we were leaving with 2000-3000 kills in total each mission.
What they meant by affecting solo player. Might as well be effecting each individual player.

I dropped 2 for whining about the patch over a week later while the rest of us adapted.
Changing terms of service with no recourse after purchase is a huge issue in all industries right now. Games, cars, printers, electronics, and most software. It isn’t even legal in the EU.
It just feel ridiculous having to install root ware on my pc to play this, and that now on top of that I need to connect a psn ‘account for security’. Of course we know it’s really for Sony to boost their numbers, but it feels so scummy for them to of initially act like this was for security reasons, especially when Sony is notorious for being hacked.
Additionally it feels so scummy to see the employees act like they’re on our side. Of course many of them likely are, but seeing the community managers etc place blame on people above them and not take any responsibility and withhold info/be dishonest with the community (until now), It makes me feel as serious lack of trust for them.

It was stated on the steam store Page from day one. The big problem is if you require (aside beeing turned of at the start) a psn Account you obvioulisly can't sell to regions where you can't make an account. But the question is who is in faul? Did Sony make a the store Page without restrictions or Arrowhead or Steam. Some Arrowhead employees at least pretended to be surprised that psn isn't available in most countrys.
But aside from that, it is clearly stupid that Sony made this move. They killed their best selling PC game ever and every future release they will have. With other words normal publisher behaviour

And for months they have happily allowed it to be sold in regions where PSN isn't even available.

@@kasterixprime Yes agree to that, even if the error occurred on the steam site of things (i dont know how you list your games on steam, do you handle it all your self as publisher or do you submit your requirements and they set it up) Sony would have been at least reponsible for checking if everything is setup correct.
Like i said is a stupid publisher Management move, in every way possible. They only thing they had to do, were track back, say we are sorry, players who want to sub can do so and we will reward it with some ingame stuff, everyone else can play like before, but for the circumstances you get a cape, in the bestcase something hilarious like veterans of Sony creek or something. stellar blade is riding a fine line, i'm generally not fussed about character designs in games, but the main costume (used in all the promo masterial) seems to pander to the ''male gaze''; if only a tadd too much.
bayonetta and nier:automata did it fine because the characters clothing was not patterned in such a way to draw attention to a body part, cereza's is a bodysuit made of her hair, and when bayonetta did do the pandering it was over in about 2 seconds (special attacks for example), nier allowed you to go full pandering at the players discretion, but gifted gameplay penalties of you did (the self-destruct feature)

Sony are the people who sold the game in regions without PSN in the first place. Am I in those areas? No, but I'm still gonna stop giving them my business all the same because I'm not a huge fan of the "i got mine" ideology.
The only thing businesses care about is their bottom line. If you disagree with their business, don't add to their bottom line.
Last part actually makes a lot of sense. Before the first patch, the game was great. Granted, some things were buggy and needed fixed. But that was all they had to do. Instead they went about rebalancing everything. And it seems like every patch makes it an overall less appealing game. It’s like they don’t understand what made it good in the first place. Idk, how else do you explain the devs nerfing something into underwhelming territory every time the player base gets excited about something? Or penalizing players for playing a mission differently instead of giving incentives in the form of rewards? These guys are like moral busybodies. I honestly wish they would leave it alone sometimes. Less is more.
I don't get the whole "easier to ban" angle. I've been playing the game for over 300 hours and have never had an issue where I felt someone needed to be banned for any reason. Is there something going on that I don't know of that is happening so frequently that they need help banning people?
I've seen a cheater/hacker one or two times. The guy was running with a liberator shooting more than 1000rpm without recoil from an endless magazine. Did it impact my gameplay? No.
I mean I did run into one ass who killed me as I was climbing on the pelican and then kicked me just before I could get the mission reward. Not like I teamkilled a single time and did more than my share of objective/killing so /shrug. I would not say that is a banning offense by itself though and the report system in game only allows you to report if it's something in chat that was offensive.
Same. 3 or 4 minor instances in 170 hours. There are games 1000x worse with incredibly toxic communities compared. R6 Siege and World of Warcraft are just 2 examples.
The selling of the game is most likely handled by Sony. Arrowhead is the developer, but Sony is the publisher. Handling distribution and sales is typically the publishers job.

In a world where the top search results for HD2 info are copy paste game journo sites from the first week of release and clickbait nonsense videos, your content has honestly been easily the best, and I would always look forward to your videos to get additional nuggets of info as I tested out stuff myself. It's honestly a bummer to see you down on the game, but I definitely share your sentiment where I want to keep playing because I still like the game and am hopeful for it, but just this whole drama has really just put a damper on things.

Sony manages the sales for the games, that's why they're the publisher.
Arrowhead only manage the developing of the game.

So, sony comes up to their next meeting and says "we are doing good, our psn accounts have been increased by x%". Isn't anyone going to ask "how much of that % is not linked to a playstation console so this increase is meaningless?"
Yeah investors are stupid, if you think it’s bad when game devs only look at the statistics when it comes to balance or what they should add or change, investors live by statistics like it’s a damn religion, they are getting their money one way or another so they don’t typically ask questions.
As someone who has worked in finance for a short stint, alot of investors are essentially very clueless boomers.
You need to know they don’t have much context. So they see good green number it’s good. They don’t care enough to dig deep on what that green is about nor is it even sustainable

I've attempted to make refund requests for the game, because I bought the game for my friend who is in a delisted region now (meaning I couldn't have bought it for him if it was properly delisted) but I live in region that is supported and they've denied my request for both his gift and my copy of the game. I've attempted multiple requests too, used the copy pastas that people are sharing and I'm still being denied.
I feel genuinely scammed by Sony and Arrowhead. I bought 2 copies that will be effectively useless, since I won't play the game without my friend who I bought the game for before even my own copy
The problem is no one wins, Sony loses arrow loses and the consumers lose, and this has done unfixable damage
It could be fixed if Sony just dropped their demand, and made the PSN sign-up optional.

I think you’re 1000% correct. They got lucky the game was so good and fun because that’s not the way they wanted the game to be.

The constant nerfs and hidden changes to constantly change the difficulty we’re to much for me. At least be open about it.
This is probably the 2nd time in the last year for me personally that an amazing game is released only for it to be washed down by corporate greed. Starts off great until eventually someone high up wants to milk it dry.
It's not about the ability to ban someone with a steam id as much as it is the user friendly interface/tools that a customer service representative has to manage bans and appeals. If they wanted to ban someone without the link, they can have an engineer go in the database and ban someone. But they didn't spend the time to make user friendly tools to manage that, nor is it tied into their ticketing system. Also it's about staffing. If they built their own tools, they have to hire people to manage those tools.
I think the idea behind using PSN was a shortcut to utilize the existing infrastructure. A lot of people are saying Sony just wants more PSN accounts to report to shareholders, but the problem with that is 1) they already count Steam users, 2) those PSN accounts don't have purchases associated with them so they don't count, and 3) if they were to count Steam users and shell PSN accounts that would be financial fraud.
Another issue people bring up is fear that linking will expose them in a breach. Linking simply associates that steam id with a PSN account. It can be an empty shell account. They just need something that works with their existing infrastructure.
Regardless of what their reasoning was, no one is going to trust them going forward. They need to backpedal hard and make linking optional. Otherwise we'll find ourselves in a Battle Front II situation if we aren't there already.
Your last remarks at 8:05 articulates a gut feeling I have that I couldn't put into words myself.

I noticed Åland islands on the list of non-PSN countries, Åland islands are actually a part of Finnish archipelago and not a country. Åland in Swedish or Ahvenanmaa in Finnish is an autonomous and demilitarized region of Finland, so it's a part of Finland even it has own flag. PSN works here in Finland, but somehow doesn't work in some part of Finland, I live in south-west of Finland so quite close to this supposed non-PSN "country" Åland islands, I could take a ship from the city where I live and where PSN works, to this mysterious non-PSN "country" Åland islands and suddenly I wouldn't have access to the PSN within the borders of the same country.

The fact that she's still there after that drama with her last month, just kinda shows where Arrowhead is as a company, this kind of stuff continues to happen, not just with the CM but other devs who've posted how happy they are for their players to cry about changes. These are not good people.
On the point about people using clickbait I've taken to not watching most channels because it's so bad. I've seen so many things that are exagerated/wrong/completely expected/dumb takes, all being presented as the biggest thing since the game launched. Doing a tier list like that would be fun, but it might also burn some bridges for you.

As far as I can tell, shareholders and Arrowhead already got their money, and now Steam has to deal with the massive refund headache.
The game is only going to get worse at this point - there won't be so high of sales as crazy as launch, even with potential upcoming DLCs. The consequences of not putting guardrails of restriction during launch, will forever be branded in player's minds.

Their management of support weapon balancing and mission modifiers feels terrible. I was thinking about dropping the game before the Sony issue, and now they're making it an easy decision.
I played a couple games after the patch, and I’ve actually noticed a pretty sharp drop in the overall player quality as well. I get the sense that players who don’t watch your videos and still don’t really understand the game mechanics are the main people left in the game. Keep up the good work, spreading the word.

Have you ever played Deep Rock Galactic? It's not exactly the same but I've clocked 1300 hours in it before taking a break and eventually picking up Helldivers 2, at least until yesterday.

I have almost 200h in helldivers and i have not met a single person who would act inapropriatly or "toxic". The worst thing that can happen is that ppl leave due to mission becoming too difficult, aka all reinforsments are gone and you are fighting a big horde (which is still winnable but some ppl quit). I had a lot of missions where my squadmates were dissatisfied with how the mission was going and they left one by one, which is understandable, i simply finnished the mision on my own with some stealth tactics. There was no arguing, no one was shouting or talking shit in chat, they just left. And even if the situation is really bad, most ppl are very positive about it saying stuff like: "these damn bugs/bots!", or like "i dont think that 3 striders dropping at us at the same time is very balanced" and things like that. Community of helldivers is one of the most friendly ones out there, and those isolated incidents with someone shooting squadmates intentionally are very rare, and easily solvable by just quitting or kicking them. They said that they have a lot of reports coming in but i doubt that they would need sony's spyware to deal with it. If they cant find a better solution than this, the game will have if not significant, then definetly noticable decline in player numbers, which will make the game more difficult for everyone else, since to complete planet liverations and defence missions we need a lot of ppl, we barely can hold some planets, and whith this decline it will become even harder.
In short, i see no reason for psn account to be mandatory, and ia see it providing no benefit to me as a player, no matter how much they say it that it does.

I asked a community dev if there were any plans to allow me to continue playing Helldivers 2 in the future after the servers are no longer supported; citing Ubisoft's The Crew as an example.
They got DEFENSIVE calling my concerns crazy for thinking that far ahead.
It was telling to say the least. What is shocking to me is that the game is being taken away from people not a decade later, but a mere 3 months after release.

At the end you said something along the lines of “the game at launch wasn’t the game Arrowhead wanted to make, which is why they’re making it worse”. Can you expand on that and what you think Arrowhead’s rationale/vision/goals/etc. are for the game? I truly don’t understand what they’ve been doing with the balancing, and want to try and understand what they are actually going for.
I was already in a low with HD2. I usually jump around to different games after binging but still have a decent 118 hours in the game. Despite this my enjoyment of the game has thoroughly been screwed and I have seriously considered refunding the game, as I've seen others do so successfully. They flew too close to the sun.
...anyways I'll probably go play Manor Lords and/or Stardew Valley for a few weeks.
Already doing Stardew again, its a good time, I have not played Stardew in like 5 years or something. Since the first build days. Good times
