- Late in the 2000 NASCAR Winston Cup season, a war of words brewed up between Jack Roush and Dave Marcis and neither held back their true feelings.

That was the development of the engine kill switch to halt the car, and there many drivers who hit that thing inadvertently and ruined their race in the early 2000's and it never really did all that much, Kevin Harvick called it "that damn kill switch that don't need to be in there!" and Ken Schrader at Talladega in 2002 which his "lucky rabbit foot" hit the kill switch, and at 2003 Southern 500 where Ryan Newman hit it on pit road and stalled the car and ruined his chances at a victory.
It is said that Dave Marcis got the most out of his equipment and car on a really tight shoestring budget. He owned all of his cars and knew them inside and out. Oh I will also mention he had no factory sponsorship like nearly all other drivers. Yeah,Dave you have a great reputation and personify CLASS !!!

I worked for dave then dont remember many tore up cars i fixed them over the 5 seasons i worked for him.

DNQ at Richmond International Raceway in September 2000. Since Dave retired in NASCAR Winston Cup Series in 2002 you probably felt comfortable without his tone from the garage. So far he only mentioned about kill switch for drivers to use it if their breaks failed on at the turn.
