- Riding e-bikes is super-easy. Once you get the hang of the pedal-assist levels and the throttle, riding an electric bicycle will become second nature. In this video, I'll teach you all you need to know about how to ride an e-bike in just five minutes.
If you're not sure how e-bikes work, it will all make sense after you finish watching this video. In addition to the basic how-tos, I included valuable pieces of advice on how to maximize your pedaling efficiency and battery range. Find out how to use an e-bike on hills, flat roads, and downhills to always get the most out of it. It's so easy you'll ask yourself why you didn't do it earlier.

I didn't learn how to ride, only some logical ideas on how to save energy. I wanted to know what all the buttons do, or how to change gears, or how to use the brakes, etc. adjust the seat, fold the bike, etc. Please make another video to really teach us how to ride an electric bike. Thanks
Right 😂 literally I got a e bike and I can’t even pedal on it 😂
Thanks So much! This was a great help. I was kind of hesitant, with much trepidation, regarding riding. Being 70 years young, I'm just trying to understand it all and be safe, Not a hazard. All EXCELLENT advice! Now I feel prepared! Only rode 2 or 3 times last year because uncertain how to shift gears correctly. I believe, if I ever get a break from babysitting grandkids, taking people to work, helping neighbors, etc, just maybe I can find time for ME! 👍♥️😊

I know this is an old video but thank you. I am looking at getting into cycling again (first time since I was a child, many years ago) - I am leaning towards an e-bike. Great video.
I love peddle assist. It makes it more fun to bike and you can bike longer. Sure it's less excerise than a normal bike. But if you bike longer and more regularly i think it's overall better for your health. I normally just have it off or at level 1. Espacially on flats or downhill. And just turn it up abit if i reach a nasty hill or if it's a long slope.
I'm 65 and have no idea how to operate an e bike, I just bought one from amazon and this video tells me lots thank you
I'm saving up for an e bike so having a little background info seriously helps! Thank you 😊
3:50, thanks for clearing that up for me . Around my way in New York City, those delivery guys go all over the place on cruise ( very little or no pedaling) dropping off their food items. they must put a 1,000 miles or more on a 40 hour, plus, work week who knows.
Thank you for a great video!!! I have been apprehensive trying ( I just got it 4 days ago). You made great points and you are so well spoken!💜

My man riding through Grove Street
You ever heard of a culdesac before bro???
Very helpful, informative, and to the point! Great video! Thx!
I’m looking to finally riding one in China. Hopefully it’ll help when travelling Vietnam and Bali so don’t have to use taxis
Thank you. This did help me.
Thanks for the video, this video is very helpful for people like myself who Rides for the exercise.Being 76, this video was a lot of help to achieve a good work out.👍🚴
I love the options. I ride a Heybike ranger pretty well everywhere around where we live. Got great bike lane system. Ill use the car if kids or wife are coming but usually i just peddle it out. If its juat the grocery store a couple miles away, i usually rely entirely on the throttle. If im going all the way across town, i turn odd assist on flats and peddle it then use the assist on hills. I tend to off and on whether peddling with assist or throttle. Mine, the motor continues for like 2 seconds after you stop peddling then it shuts down to a coast so its a nice balance.
Wow great video thank you! Just xploring e-bikes and this video really helps.
!!! Greetings from Montréal, Québec, Canada !!! I am 62 yrs ols, I have knee problems ans starting to have Hip problems sooooo, really thinking about buying an E-Bike !!! Thank you for the wonderful advice for 'Newbee' like me, it is greatly appreciated !!! Now i have to decide between 'Half/Half' tire (Street and Terrain) or FAT TIRES !?!?! Cheers !!!
I’m an experienced Road (racer) cyclist with a history of long endurance rides. In recent years, I’ve developed a severely arthritic right knee which was becoming more and more painful over the last 6 years. Cycling especially painful on long step gradient hills. Just bought my first pedal assist e-bike (UK) and first ride out today. Only 7 gears as opposed to 20 but realise you use those gears differently with certainly less changes. Level 3 (my top level) eats those hills and saves the knee. My e-bike will keep me cycling longer 👍
As a beginner I find your video to be very good. But I would have appreciated more details on how to deal with turns, U turns and braking with the right hand when you are relying on the throttle.
This was exactly what I needed. Thank you!
Great video for the beginner.
Helpful video. Thanks!
Thank you. You answered all the things I needed to know!
I'm going to try one soon. I've never been on one. I cannot do a regular bike bec my legs are weak and I have fibromyalgia.
So soon I will try and will watch this vid a few times before trying it in real life lol.
Ty.
Hoy can u switch from to all the systems?
Is it possible that you can put a tannus tire on this bike or a airless tube s o i don't get a flat ?Can a 20x1.50 or a 20x1.25 tannus tire fit ? I went on Tannus Tire website for different tannus tire sizes and i came up with a 20x1.50 or 20x1.25 ?
Awesome i have the Rad 6 Plus
Great Video Kevin and nice presentation Sir!
If you're in peddle assist 1 to 3, do you still use the throttle or motor works as you peddle? Thanks
Great info! I just ordered my ebike and was wondering how to combine using regular gears in combination with the PAS. I have been riding a 21 gear hybrid bike but in my 73rd year I wanted a little more help on the hills!
Thanks for the video. How do you start, use brakes and stop?
You mean like stopping at the stop sign?
thank you for this video, very informative ! great job !
I'm actually really interested in the bike you're riding!
Dear sir can I give axeleter and peddle at the same time
Do you always have to start your bike riding in the 1 or 2 gear setting or can you start off in whatever gear it was last left in without putting the chain, etc in jeopardy ?
Very good video you made, thumbs up to your explanation, of this hot button subject
Thank you so much! Great video. Very informative.
Great video! Thanks!
what bike were you using in the video
I just got one. It was raining so i was unable to go for a ride.
Also I have a question. Is it bad for the ebike to use it just like a regular bicycle all the time?
I can't think of any technical reason this would be bad. The bike itself will be heavier than most other bikes you've ever ridden, so it'll be a workout. Also, if you go a very long time without using the battery, it will naturally discharge over time. If you leave it fully discharged for a long time, then that degrades the max capacity of the battery. So it's best not to go months or years without using & charging it.
What bike are you driving and where can I buy it and also how much does it cost
This looks a lot like Davis, CA. Or any other well planned out bike-friendly community.
Go Aggs!
This neighborhood doesn't seem so bike friendly to me
Pedal assist only in U.K. and restricted to 15.5 mph. Throttle e-bikes are illegal and considered a ‘mechanically propelled motor vehicle’ and can be seized by the police as well as a charge for no insurance & otherwise than in accordance with a driving licence …
Thanks for making this to the point video!
Are bikers allowed to run Stop signs?
I have an electric bike with 2 batteries ( Standard 48V 13ah and Extended Range 48V 21ah ). My question is regarding the 48V 21ah Extended range battery which goes from 50km to 90km in miles. How can I maximize my miles from 50km to 90km when using the 48V 21ah battery, if I'm using both PAS and the gear shifter if I want to reach to it's maximum number for range.
Thank you for the information. Which gear should you have it in for pedal assist?
Thanks; very helpful.
Mostly that I happen to own a jetson-fold pro bike that I do a combination of throttle and pedal assist that using both do make going up a hill a bit better.
Do you know if there are any e-bikes on the market that will recharge your battery as you pedal? That would be a cool feature to have. When your battery gets to a certain level, switch to pedal mode to convert the energy to battery power.. but then you would probably need a generator on the bike which would probably cost more money and add to the weight. Also, I'm looking at getting an e-bike but I'm a heavier guy. I'm in the 275lb range. Can all e-bikes handle that weight range? Any brands you can recommend checking out besides schwinn? Thank you.
Engwe Engine Pro for example and its i-ERS “Range Booster” which as advertised on their website, charges the battery when “sliding” downhill in pa 0 while coasting at 16kph or faster.
Yes there are ebike motors capable of regen, if you are fine with the resistance when coasting and the percentage of power you will get back... Which will vary between systems but is never much, I guess it could mean that extra few percentage on a journey that gets you over the line so to speak. Oh And it saves on brake pads is a bonus lol
I bike to work to keep in shape but hills are tough, an ebike would make my commute 2x more comfortable
I was hoping it had something about shifting.
I'm still new to this topic, but my understanding is that most ebikes have a single gear, so there's no shifting, at least not in the traditional sense.
@@smileychessonly the small bikes that look like scooters are single speed.
Edit: Mostly. There are a few “cruiser” bikes.
@@Roboprogs - You're right. Soon after I wrote that comment, I actually replaced my car with an e-bike which has 7 gears (from Velotric). It's fantastic.
I'm still pedaling this thing, it's extremely heavy!
I don't know how to rideau an ebike . I've tried many times but everytime cars still overtake me no matter the level of assist
What brand of ebike is, the most comfortable ,when pedaling?
The one you bought without a motor just for pedaling and then installed the ebike kit (motor, controller, battery)
Silly question: so in this kind of bike, the bike gears are useless? If you are in pedal assist, changing the gears in the bike makes no difference? Thanks for your time!
Gears are very useful. They help you provide more push from a stop or up a hill, and to go faster on the flat. If you have a mid drive, which help turn the chain, instead of being inside the wheel hub, it gives the motor differing leverage as well.
I like your neighborhood
Whats the speed range of affordable ebikes? Also are traffic rules same for motorcycle?
Wow, this is awesome. What equipment do you use to record this?
What black friday deals are available for e-bikes that are substantial, real bf deals?
Does anybody know if the speedrid e bike has throttle, it has 500W.
Where do you mount the camera?
How to change pedal assist?
You live in a charming neighborhood
could you bring a large care battery charger with you to charge the bike ?
If your bike has an external battery, see if you can buy a second battery. Take the plug-in charger with you???
Lead-acid batteries are very heavy.
Edit: you can’t charge a lithium battery from 12 volts, so you would also need the bike’s charger and an inverter to run it.
how do the brakes work? does motor cut out when breaking?
Usually, yes, the motor cuts when shifting or braking.
Which bike is that?
❤
Hi what is a good starting position
What is a good starting position for the throttle 1 2 or 3
Do you need to know how to ride a regular bike to use an e-bike?
Step 1- Get a model with no pedals
Step 2- Floor it and never let go.
Step 3: pin cards to the forks to flap on the spokes to sound like a motorcycle 😁
Great vidio, what e bike are you using?
Throttle only ebikers can pedal as much as they want. I pedal hard when I feel like it which is most of the time. Class 2 throttle only give you high intentionality and no trashed drive train elements. All these folks trashing their drive trains with middrives alas..if they only realized.
So if your e bike can travel at 20 mph on throttle it is motorcycle/ motorized vehicle that should not be riding on a bike path. Like what could possibly go wrong when you have people with little or no bicycle experience riding motorized bicycles. Just Saying
In Ontario, Canada, if it has a throttle it is considered a different class of e-bike completely (class 2) and is subject to many more laws and regulations than a simple pedal-assist only.
He advised, if you see someone coming, the person riding the E bike or motorcycle should get off the path and allow walkers to pass! Makes sense to me.
@@barbarabuford5795 The problem is that you can’t rely on people doing the right thing. I observed a guy on a class 2 e bike riding on a path down to the beach that had many beach goers walking and pulling wagons with beach chairs and kids. It is a basic rule that you walk you bike in these areas. This guy just weaved his way through the crowd. This was in Hilton Head, SC where most people ride single speed cruiser bikes on flat bike / walk paths.
Get a life !!!
Wtf do you want me to do ride on the same road as a semi truck going 35?? Are you stupid
You ran the stop sign. Not a good role model.
Throttle ebikes are illegal in the uk
So basically a very dumbed-down version of a motorcycle.
Pedal-only on an E bike?
Dammmm
I got 1-5 i only use 1-3
I missed my calling😔 to be a bankster😈 and have an a bottomless wallet! #TDBank🌎💘💰
its just riding a bike just a little more advanced
I find the e bike v heavy!
I gave up watching this after 1 minute. You should start from a STATIONARY position, spend one minute to point out the controls and explain each function. Next you should show hot to START the bike safely. Finally, narrate while riding. Sorry but I was disappointed.
I would start (being stationary) by pointing out the controls and what they do, i.e., power (throttle), pedal assist function, gears and when to use high/low gear. Also mention that one can cycle using three methods: straight pedaling (just like a regular bike, and without power), PAS and throttle with or without PAS. The foregoing could be explained in 2-3 minutes and then you could discuss the rest of your narrative.
You keep talking but not show us how to operate it. What buttons to press and how to use the gears or levels. Terrible. Ur 5 minutes title is very deceptive.
Don’t ride thru stop signs like this guy.
Don’t.
Good job.
This encourages me to get my E bike fixed 🫣🫠
I just got one. It was raining so i was unable to go for a ride.
