- I've had a lot of questions recently from people interested in getting back into aggressive inline skating. My favorite skates to consider are the USD Aeon 60, the USD Sway and the Razors SL. I break down the benefits and drawbacks of each and which ones you should consider.

I've skated Razors all my life. Mostly the genesys model. I didn't get a pair of SLs until a few years after the release of the Aragon 2s and IMHO it is the perfect skate. They are so smooth and I've gotten better because of them. They're perfect.
Thanks for the advice. I’ve been skating again after about 15-18 years of a break. I bought the razors cult. And now I’m recommending the aeons or sways to my cousin who wants to get back into it also. Thanks again
Just ordered the Aeon 60's last week. Had to get them from overseas haha. I'm 31 and it's been 5 years since I even put on skates. Will definitely keep track of my progress.
Where did you get them? Anywhere I try is sold out 🤦♂️
@@garyc4943 Oak City but they were sold out...I contacted Long personally and asked if he knew anywhere to get them and he actually ended up having one last pair in my size. Such a good day haha
Last aggressive skate I put on was my friend's pair of oxygens back in the late 90s. I feel old. Enjoy the content, definitely mulling over choices for a return skate purchase. Sway/aeon, nj team/pro are what I've been eyeing. Stay safe out there.
I just got back into skating and have really appreciate your videos everyday I researched and waited things got harder and harder to find!! Its crazy.
Haven’t skated since I was 18. I’m 25 now. Used to skate Deshi ch1s with jug liners. I miss it 😓 your channel has made me wanna get back into it so bad! ✌️👍
Exactly my thoughts on the razors sl stock liner.. just after 2 sessions i changed them with an old fe enkidu liners and they fit perfect for my feet
Thanks bro! I bought some THEM Darst Pro from Oak City based on your videos. My wife says I'll end up in the hospital. I say, "hell yeah!"
Helmet! Enjoy it
Just got a pair of USD Sway, 22 years and almost 40kg later, i am having fun, but not ready for the skate park yet. They feel a little tight, even if i got a bigger size, but i think i am just too heavy, or the liner is not molded to my feet yet...😬 Love your videos, it looks like we are a lot of 90's kids getting back to blading!
Also addressing your comments on the SL liners. I have been skating the SL Yuri Botelho and the SL black. Even the non Reign Razors liner in the pro skate is light years above whats in the stock SL.
Skated from 95 to 05 and took a break and bought a pair of valos around 09. Quit again because I couldn’t afford more wheels at the time😂 but anyways I came back last year around February and found some shima3’s and skated those quite a bit but I was getting tired of my flt3 and haven’t skated them much lately. On Sunday I ordered some 909’s with intuitions! And a pair of the oysi medium frames with 65/58 wheels! I am so excited for this setup, I haven’t skated flat probably since 99-2000! It’s going to be so fun having fast and squirrelly skates again😁
first. Aeon 60 mm
9:08 USD swa..... Power Slide ZOOM with sway baseplate .
18:06 Razord SL NAVY
thanks man... What do you think about the razors shift 2 or Cosmo?
Shift are alright, bit squishy but the soul plates are amazing
Ive got a set of 10 year old aragon 4s they came with a set it jug liners and gc flt 2 they are great but will be upgrading to the flt 3 soon and reign liners once the jugs wear out
I've skated all blades during the 90's Rollerblade lighting, k2 fatty, Rollerblade dirk Daytona, USD Dustin latimer, and Razor Cults. I was hoping to get Razor Cults for my son and I during this pandemic but there was limited supply. So I ended up getting the Razor SL great blades just not a big fan of the UFS system.
I'm a beginner-level aggressive skater and I totally agree with you about the Aeons. They're great. The only downside I'd say is that the soul plates are slow/sticky, especially the white ones apparently, which when you're a tentative learner makes getting slide off them pretty difficult. Everything else about them is great.
Biggest advice I can give to you is just commit to your tricks as long as your not too far up lol imo the faster I fell the easier I rolled away whej I fell but more often I landed tricks just by gunning for it lol hope this helps
@@kmkcopkiller Appreciate it
I think for many it would also be important for you to post a new video on fitting. I used to buy skates based on how they feel when I tried them on, but recently measured my feet in mm and bought a pair of Them 908s with intuition liners based on that measurement. The break in was tough but now that they are broken it, every other skate I have feels like they are multiple sizes too big for me.
I am a little sad that Them didn't get mentioned, but they are more expensive since they don't come as a full setup. In my case, I wish I got Them first because I have multiple pairs of skates now that I went through before finding my perfect skate. Could have saved me some money if my local shop had carried Them.
Roces has some good full setups also for a fair price, although various social media situations make me feel like they don't treat their pro skaters well.
Agreed. Fitting is one main things we’ve lost with skate shops dying. I do my best to explain the feeling but it’s impossible for people to know until they try.
I love the Them line, but it’s too expensive and too complicated for a beginner. The soul plates could be more forgiving too.
Expecting my Eugen USD’s tomorrow!!!
So I finally got my hands on Aeons. Tried Thems, definitely not for me. Aeons are sick but then I put on SLs. @backtoblading mentioned in his review video that SLs were a cheat code for royales. The SL makes getting boot down so freaking easy. I found getting tricks back in an SL so much easier than in any other skate, even Aeon 60s
Hey man! I know you have been skating both of them skates. Which you recon are more comfortable? Razors SL or USD sevens?? I had skate SL and have been amazing but thinking to get USD VII ROMAN ABRATE.. please advice! Stay safe and keep doing good job 👍🏻
Just bought Aeon Basic 60 XXI and the Razor SL just cause I couldn’t make up my mind. I feel more comfortable grinding on the Aeon.
Got the aeon 60 sam crofts for a good price :) . and I had a break about 20 years xD. I will see how it works
Same there! After 20 years and I got Aeon 60 XIX. They are just amazing! Hope you will enjoy them
@@buty161 Still skating my Roces Graal. Kept them since 2004 in the attic for about 15 years and am back to skating for 2 weeks now. Looking for a pair of AEONS now. Seems a good idea though...
O.A. Claus highly recommend you will be happy with them!
usd imo the best skate on the market ...from the aeon to the carbons they have it on lock
The new Sway Farmers look freaking awesome. Love the color and they have a 45 strap! They might coax me out of my Solos
Love the Sway and a 45 strap only makes them better
Mine have just been dispatched, so excited to get them. First new skate in 16 years... 😁
I like a narrower soul plate even though it makes Royales harder because I find that bending my knees more lowers my center of gravity and makes me balance better.
Unfortunately there is no chance to find any of USD skates in Russia. Especially in 11th size. I had 20 or so year break in skating and I bought RB NJ5 for something about 46-47(huge discount, as I think) usd just few hours ago.
I'm (almost) 38 and this lock down has me wanting to go old school and skate. I started on quads but by the mid 90s, we realized we could skate outside with inline and I never went back. I had rec skates, 5 wheel speed skates, rollerhockey skates (rockered, of course), and a few pair of aggro skates. I want to say the very last pair I had were Soloman ST8 or something like that?
Salomon were great skates! Lots of people still skate them actually. You might be able to eBay a pair.
Hey, nice shirt!
I decide to get back to blading after almost 15 years of pause, i even order new Aeons 60, meanwhile i went to train on my old scates, on second day i broke my arm, on next day i receive my new Aeons, now i am sitting home with my brand new USD skates while watching your videos, life is pain...😭😭😭😂
Go skate for some fun like the old days! Just go skate around without doing tricks! I did and it actually helped me get back into aggressive I was just so out of shape lol. Its crazy what the years do when u just work and don't do shit....
@@kmkcopkiller ha ha, so true..
You get USD Sway 57 2020 in Germany for under 130€ new. Good times to be alife.
Soon as your said late 90s early 2000s the Salomon sti pros stood out a mile 😂
Wrote this before you took them off the wall 😂
Have you done a review on the vintage Fatty Pros on your wall, they were okay for topsides and soles and royales and backslides
I had to choose between USD VII Clan with Kizer Fluid 4 and the Sway 2 (I understand they are different from the 3s) and I went for the VII 2016 or 2017 model. Do you think it was a good choice? Are the Sways better? Also, got the VIIs for $130.
Hey dude, what size shell are you rocking? I'm 285mm and checked the razors website and it shows the 8-9 shell is 285mm?
"unless you're a size 6" as i lace my size 6 SL up xD
Ha!
What do you think about the NJ5 by rollerblade? Haven't skated in awhile, early 90's, and I wore K2 fatty pro's and Roces.
Those are a bit older but their current skate the NJ Team was pretty good to me.
USD aeon frames are not removeable? o_0
i want to do aggressive skating AND just skate around the city. would u suggest the aeon 60s or aeon 72s? which one is better for long distance?
The Aeon 72 is a great skate for that.
I always heard the sways are wider in the shell than a throne is that true Law?
Hey, really enjoying your videos, inspired me to take the plunge like so many and get back to blading. Also out 10 years. I just tried Aeons, sounded amazing, problem is liner and shell are just too narrow for my foot, so tight at widest point. Any recommendations for skates for wider fit? Would really appreciate the help on account I can't go try them on anywhere. Cheers!
Ah man, yeah they can be tough for wider feet. The Sway are wider and probably worth looking into. Good luck!
@@BacktoBlading aah interesting, would that apply to the liner also? Both are USD aren't they likely to have same basic/skinnyboi myfit liner?
Not sure the liners are any different, but the liner material stretches. Boots are the limiting factor for width.
Who knows the model in the far left, center row?
Ok I have a really serious question I'm trying to buy some inlines but I'm stumped with the sizing cause it says on the Website I'm buying from and every other shoe conversion table I look at is that my 10 inch foot should be able to fit perfectly in a size 7.5 in US mens and I'm super confused cause I wear a size 11 in US mens in shoes
It depends if you like them snug or finger loose. I wear a 9 shoe in US and just bought the Rollerblade NJ5 in a size 9 for a snug fit. I'd go half size higher if your worried about being to small.
Bought Rollerblade New jack team for an discount price of 175euro, Would like to change the cuff it make squicky sounds kinda anoying and the shock absorber
Wax the inside of the cuff it will go away
Can you cruise a little bit on aeon 60s for a short 1 mile skate
Sure! 72 Aeon might be better for that though.
Hello Lawrence. Have you tried the roces m12? I consider to get a pair, but i heard they are narrow in fit. Do you have any experience with them?
I found some Razors Genesys LE Red Black on www.grindhouse.eu i think you mentioned you were searching for some.
I've just moved from a razor sl to the m12 lo. IMO the m12 fit nicer and are definitely more comfy. Unfortunately due to lockdown I've not had chance to try them out properly yet though. But so far my initial impression is they are very good.
Hey Callum this is a very usefull answer i apriciate it. The comparsion to the razors SL is helpfull. Thank you. I guess i give them a try. Which Set up Do you use? I plan on using the kizer element 2 and Intuition liner.
So my SL's and M12's are both completely standard. Laurence is right about the SL liner, it's just awful. I did put my salomon vinny minton liner in then and it changed the skate straight away, but something still didn't feel right about them.
I bought a pair of myfit fatboy liners, but by the time they arrived I had bought the m12's. I tried the fatboy liners in the roces but honestly the stock liner is just perfect.
I think what put me off the SL's was just how bulky they look and feel on foot. That view looking down on your feet just looks too much I felt.
Where the m12's look like a sneaker, and for me personally hugs my feet in the right places. There is zero 'bulk' feeling when wearing them.
I'm not bothered about the difference in soul plate size because back in the day when I skated, soul plates were smaller and i managed more than fine.
The one thing I'd probably changed on the m12's is I'd put on an FLT3 frame, that's about it.
@@callumsmith5135 My first agressive skates were the m12. The white and Red with the high cuff. Had to Add These Red soul kits to the heal and after a year a ankle strap because the rivited cuff broke, but man these were fun. Recently rolled my salomon st9 again, stock as they were sold and i Was affraid about the small soul but memory kicked in and it worked out amazing. If you ride Park and rail a lot try out the element 2 frame. Felt like magic on rails. Never been this confident on p-rail.
Little Update. Got a pair of Joe Atkinsons Pro Roces M12 a size bigger than needed. They fit even a wide foot.
I like what you got going on ... I just really would love a new song cause that little bip noice is crazy annoying ..... but I love your videos . you got knowledge
Haha. Noted
I need some new frames and wheels for my k2 fatty pros I just dusted off, who’s got me covered?
www.balancedist.com/shop-50-50
Doesn’t even necessarily have to be an aggressive frame If you know of any other options out there with wheels included
how well does aeon 60 fit for wide feet
Heard they're not good for wide feet. The USD Sway are the ones made for wide feet. It's the forward flex with the USD's that makes me on the fence about them
What transition radius did you use on your miniramp?
7’ 💪🏻
Thanks. Starting mine tommorrow.
Ill post it on slackblade when im done.
Do you reccomend that radius?
@@caseymarkle7485 I just built one with a 6' radius. You can see it on instagram @sunshineblader it took a little adapting the first day but now I love it. I should note that my ramp is around 3.75 feet high. I tried to use the full height of the plywood side panels.
you forgot the VII!!
Can't buy those any more ( only old stock)
I just got the VII abrate boot only so glad I found them they have been fantastic
Wish could get them
Them 909s better then all mentioned.
Josh Welch not for getting back into it like the video said. They are boot only so I’m guessing he kept them off the list because of that alone.
