@@ryanclark6035 I haven't seen anyone do a current draw on the XL, but I have one now and I've been powering it off a Cioks DC-7 using two outputs and it's been fine.
Would the current draw change with an actual guitar plugged in? Can this be demonstrated? I mean if you have all algorithms in place and the preamp in the unit starts giving out the signal- will the draw not increase?
Great video, but unfortunately I can't buy this 8800 Flex cable here in China. And one question, how could you be sure that there is no current surge when we play the guitar? Normally chips will draw more power when processing the signal. Line 6 made an adapter with 3A capacity instead of 1.5A. There should be some reason behind it for them to spend additional cost for the capacity?
I feel like when we use more DSP in Hx Stomp (like running two amp and IR in stereo) , We might draw more current. Can you explain it in context of more DSP usage rather than LED lights.
that's exactly the answer I'm looking for right now cuz I wanna power my HX Stomp via USB and the 1A solutions seem to tight for me although I've seen ppl doing it with Ripcord (also 1A), but never at DSP max
You can use the Cioks 4 to power a Line 6 HX Stomp, but you'll need to be mindful of the power requirements. The HX Stomp typically requires a 9V power supply with sufficient current (around 2A). The Cioks 4 provides 9V outputs, but its maximum current per output is limited (up to 1A on certain outputs). For optimal performance and to avoid any issues, it’s recommended to use a Cioks 7 or Cioks CRUX, which can provide the necessary current for the HX Stomp. If you use the Cioks 4, ensure that you don’t exceed the current limit.
Crazy thought but, could you use 3 gray parallel flex? The first 2 plugged in 4 of the DC7 slots and the 3rd one to connect those 2 so that you could have 2.6 of current head room? Is that a safe connection? Assuming that its all in 9v
It's intended to power (almost) EVERYTHING. So it would really be impossible to provide EVERY type of cable with the unit without raising costs. It's more cost effective for the consumer to buy the unit and the cables that you need separate.
thanks for the video... so the conclusion... what all i need to power up HX effects ?? and if i turn on all the effect include the loopers (its still around 1000mAh right?) thank u

He's taking a pedal board cable or extension cable and cutting the positive side (w white line) and connecting two banana plugs to it so he can run that through the meter to get currant (mA) reading.
Hi, thank you very much for the information! I have a question... why you are using 12V for M9? And if I wanna use 9V power supply for M9, what's the current draw? Thank you!
Originally the M9 was designed for a 9V AC adapter. The 9V AC when rectified became very close to 12V DC so therefore I suggest to use 12V DC which for the M9 internally is the closest thing to the original power. But it will also work of 9V DC but then draw more current so the power drawn is the same.

I mean, HX needs around 0.9A and combining 2 slots of my power supply I could give 1A. Would that be safe enough? Or should I try to give slightly more as you do here?
You can use any switchmode power supply and parallel 2 high current DC outputs to power the Stomp. What you would need is a current doubler cable to power it.
@user-mo6tp9sb1g What I mean by "switchmode" in this context, is that the power supply is calibrated to any voltage wherever you are in the world, from 100 up to 240 volts.

Please explain how you determined that the M9 required 12Vdc power, not 9Vdc power? The documentation for Truetone's CS12 isolated power supply unit says that the M9 can be powered with either 9Vdc or 9Vac.
The official specification for powering Line 6 M9 says 9V AC. This voltage is rectified inside the pedal via a 4-diode bridge rectifier and led into an electrolytic capacitor. In this process the AC voltage is roughly multiplied by 1.4 and from that you should subtract two diode voltage drops and also half of the peak-peak ripple voltage on the capacitor. This calculation translated into a higher DC voltage on the input. You can also look at it in another way; what DC voltage should you apply to the M9 to achieve the same DC voltage on the electrolytic capacitor as if it was powered with its original 12V AC adapter. Both ways you get something very close to 12V DC.

Is it safe to use the red and green cables included with the DC7 to power an Hx Stomp? So it would go grey 2-1 (8800) cable in to red (reverse polarity) in to green in to Stomp.
You can't do it like this, sorry. You need the yellow Flex for the HX Stomp or as I did when measuring the Effects swap the polarity on the green Flex cable. The red Flex is for the smaller 5.5/2.1mm DC socket so it won't fit at all. But why not just get the correct Flex from the beginning..? Go for the yellow #3050 Flex.
CIOKS Power Supplies for Effect Pedals i cannot find the yellow flex in stock anywhere in the US. Is there another cable that will be easy to find that will work with the 8800 cable to power my HX stomp?? Thnx
CIOKS Power Supplies for Effect Pedals So powering the HX stomp with the DC7: is it okay to go from the gray parallel cable right to the yellow flex, or is the black cable required in there as well? I wasn’t sure if the black cable was just used for the multimeter. Thanks!
Although having just a single power supply for my pedalboard is a great idea, and, DC7 apparently works well and it could be a viable solution, at line6.com/support/page/kb/effects-controllers/helix/hx-stomp-faq-r906/ there's an statement about power supplies for HX Stomp. "IMPORTANT NOTE #2: YOU ARE ON YOUR OWN. Feel free to use this FAQ as a starting point, but Line 6 is not responsible for any damage incurred when using HX Stomp with any third-party power supplies. That is, if someone writes "B-b-but Line 6 said I could use [power supply X!]," someone will hopefully refer them to this post where I make it perfectly clear that we only *officially* support our DC-3G." I know that the DC7 and some others power supplies are able to power HX Stomp, however as long as my HX stomp is supported by Line6 (guarantee), I'd rather using their official power supply.
@5:44 "It doesn't really matter what you're playing and what kind of algorithm is being used; it's more about how much light there is on the whole thing and that determines the current draw" -- says a guy contradicting Line 6 themselves, on a device that's never being played throughout the demo -- I call bullshit.
By the way I can email 2 phone numbers which I have mobile and home phone number for whenever you want to give me anymore help. I was even surprised how easy the new Digitech pedals were to setup and use, Ventura Vibe, Dirty Robot, Polara, Obscura and Nautila which I’ve setup in a random order on my Pedaltrain Nano+. What I also love to do is then sell the boxes, pedalplates and stickers along with any manual if available and warranty card on eBay, and keep all my pedals to keep plenty of room in our house. I’ve sold some guitar pedal boxes and manuals in the past and will try again. Also eventually any unused Powersupplies to be replaced by Cioks. What are the power requirements for the XL version of the HX Stomp? I understand the processor is the same but there are more switches - any ideas?
Great videos. I'd love to know what the power draw of the Moore Preamp Live is. The manual says 12v 1a, but I'm assuming it'd be realistically less than that. I'm assuming I could set two of the outputs to 12v and use a current doubler cable to power it with the DC7. Is that accurate?
Yes, you should try this. You'll for sure have 1A at 12V when using two outlets in a parallel configuration.
Hello Adam i am also planning to buy the ciosk dc7 to power my mooer preamp live with bunch of pedals. I really have very minimalistic idea about current. So can't we power with one 12v outlet the preamp live ?
Why does the screen of the HD500X remain dark?
In our video or in general..? I did spend 10-15 min. with the manual trying to figure out how to turn the display light on but with no success.

It should turn on when you power up the unit.
Seems like it wasn't getting enough juice from the power supply for the screen to come on.
Can a dc5 run an hx stomp, a g30 wireless and 2 9v pedals?
im running a very similar setup. Any luck with yours?
I found a guy on reverb who builds custom power supplies specifically with hx stomp in mind. The hx power is 1000mah and the other 9v sections are standard 500mah and it comes with all the cables. Well worth the $90 I paid
Thats awesome man. Would you happen to remember the link to his shop? If not no biggie. Im glad you solved your issue.
Hell yeah let me get it.. Let him know i referred you. Maybe we will both get something out of it hahaha
Here is a link to the triple i got for my brother.
reverb.com/item/32691103-hx-effects-hx-stomp-mini-triple-double-isolated-power-supply-approved-by-line-6-handmade-in-usa
But he has a ton of other and if you know exactly how many pedals you use he can custom one for you too...
Hello! I own a CIOKS AC10 ... can I power a line 6 hx stomp?
If yes, how?
Thanks in advance!
No, sorry. You need at least 1000mA at 9V and that is not possible with AC10.
I know I could build one myself... but please start selling the cable you use to measure
OK, we might do that.
YES! Exactly! Please, someone!
line6 m9 center plus??
Can anyone tell me the difference between the dc7 and the powermax? I've asked on a few different forums but no one has answered..the only thing I can find is the price and a few volts more on the dc7
Hi, The PowerMAX lacks the 24V auxilary outlet. Apart from that and the colour and name these are the same.
@@ciokspowersuppliesforeffec7533 ah, thanks!
@@ciokspowersuppliesforeffec7533 Just ordered the dc7. Thanks!
Thanks!
how about the M13? sorry for the noob question.
should work the same
@@BoernTilStede From our experience, the M13 only works with AC power
Could this power the Line 6 M5?
Oh yes, 7 of them. The M5 draws max 350mA.
@@ciokspowersuppliesforeffec7533 does the line 6 M5 need a yellow type 2 cable or a black type 1?
Thanks
Although having just a single power supply for my pedalboard is a great idea, and, DC7 apparently works well and it could be a viable solution, at line6.com/support/page/kb/effects-controllers/helix/hx-stomp-faq-r906/ there's an statement about power supplies for HX Stomp.
"IMPORTANT NOTE #2: YOU ARE ON YOUR OWN. Feel free to use this FAQ as a starting point, but Line 6 is not responsible for any damage incurred when using HX Stomp with any third-party power supplies. That is, if someone writes "B-b-but Line 6 said I could use [power supply X!]," someone will hopefully refer them to this post where I make it perfectly clear that we only *officially* support our DC-3G."
I know that the DC7 and some others power supplies are able to power HX Stomp, however as long as my HX stomp is supported by Line6 (guarantee), I'd rather using their official power supply.
@5:44 "It doesn't really matter what you're playing and what kind of algorithm is being used; it's more about how much light there is on the whole thing and that determines the current draw" -- says a guy contradicting Line 6 themselves, on a device that's never being played throughout the demo -- I call bullshit.
Aw shucks. Wanted to know how mA the M9 draws at 9v.
I got interested eversince I saw you can even power Electro Harmonix Tube Pedals like, Tube Equilizer, and the Version they’ve done of the Big Muff ect.
Will the CIOKS Hi5Mod power the HX Stomp?
Why exactly does the yellow flex cable and the Green cl6 cable do? Isolation or polarity? I have a Line 6 M5, do I need one? Thanks
hi, can i use big john for stomp??
