    For anyone wandering, a powersupply with 3A ( as the one that comes for HX) does not supply 3A all the time! That is the max value it can provide. The instant current depends on how much processing the hx stomp is doing. Usually varies between 800ma and 1A. Some PS with double 400ma are struggling, others are not. But 1A should be fine to power it at any situation.

    Great video! I’ve soldered the current doubler cables myself but some noise can be heard that’s in sync with the tap tempo LED lights. It disappears when I replace with power supply with the original one. What could the problem be? 😢

    Did you test the hx stomp using many blocks with an amp sim block and the hx loop? Does it hold up?
    The more processing hx needs the more current it draws.

    can you use the Doubler cable on different mA like a 300 and a 500 to get 800mA ? or do they have to be equal?

    Do the output currents when using the daisy chain have to be the same or can I use one with 800mA and another with 300mA?

    • @helixforworship
      @helixforworship  5 лет назад

      I’m actually not sure about that. You don’t want it to pull too much power from the lower output plug...?

  • @apfelmistnutte

    Just parallel connect three outputs of your harley benton power plant iso 1-pro.
    You probably need to solder together three cables, but it's working haha

    hi,the hx stomp is 900ma,but why you just total 800ma can power up the hx for that two out put?

    I'm confused, 'cause I thought the HX Stomp used a regular 9v dc center negative. Why the need for the special black cable?

    My current power supply has 4 9v 300mA outputs, would I still be able to power a stomp?

    • @thenateharrison
      @thenateharrison 4 года назад

      Theoretically the output would power the stomp. The problem at that point would be adapting the cables to work.

    Hi couldn't you have used the courtesy outlet from Voodoo Lab Pedal Power 2 Plus ?

    • @helixforworship

      Yes you can use the courtesy outlet from the 2 Plus. But I wanted to do away with the original power cable and switch to using a pedal power outlet.

    Where did you find the cable for the current doubler to the HX? I know it’s “special”, with 2.1mm at one end and 2.5 at the other, and I can’t seem to find one.
    Thanks for the great vid!

    • @helixforworship
      @helixforworship  5 лет назад +2

      I combined 2 cables in this video to make that happen. The first one was the doubler and the second one is the adapter. Here are the links.

      I'm an ignorant in the power subject, but I'm having the same doubt, since the HX stomp requires 3A. Can someone help?

    • @helixforworship

      I would say stick to the recommended from Line 6. But I haven’t had any problems with it so far.

  • @benjamingrimsey

    So would I be correct to assume that if I use the same method with the HX Stomp and the two 9v 500ma ports on my True Tone CS7 power supply, that would achieve the same results?

    • @helixforworship
      @helixforworship  5 лет назад

      You actually don’t even need to use 2 outputs. The CS7 can pull enough power from 1 of the 500mA outlets to power the stomp as long as you aren’t exceeding the overall mA pull of the CS7.

    one question do you think you must from two outlets with equal current outputs?

    • @helixforworship
      @helixforworship  5 лет назад +1

      I don’t think they have to be equal currents but they do have to equal the input that the Stomp needs in order to be powered.

    Hi why did you add a DI in between HXS and FOH? Why not go direct?

    • @helixforworship
      @helixforworship  5 лет назад

      I was using it just in case I wanted to put a pedal after my stomp before the DI... since shooting this video though I have now starting running direct from the stomp.

    When you parallel two sources of the same voltage, the amperage is doubled. 400mA + 400mA. Magic.

    The HX stomp don't need 3000A? You use only 800mA?

    • @helixforworship
      @helixforworship  5 лет назад

      Line 6 says that it requires 3000mA but the actual power consumption is not that. The power need for the stomp to function is around 900mA.

    I don't get it, if you are using 2 9v outputs that's 18v, i get it, you get double ma that is what the hx needs but you are also getting double 9v don't you??

    The easy way is just get the larger helix, switches built in, more blocks, better power setup.
