I made a pot holder and had trouble sewing it because I cut it the same size as on the front 🙄...found out the hard way! Learned something new! I've just started quilting and I love it! I love watching your videos...Thank You!
When one teaches, one should teach every step, I'm also a newbie, you don't even have a sewing machine in sight, you should show how you sewed the squares together. You seriously need to be more professional. Pretty pot holders, but you need to sew, maybe redo the video
Love the simplicity of these potholders. Wonderful beginner project and gift making! Love your idea of stitching the patchwork sections as you get scraps!
I am a beginner Quilter (haven't sewn anything yet), but have watched a lot of Tutorials. I have seen some on QAYG, Postage Stamp, and tonight yours on Potholders. I want to start small, like a Mug Rug, and you gave an idea, instead of Mini Charm Packs, I am going to use 1 1/2" squares to make my Mug Rug. So hurry with that Binding Tutorial.
Thanks for sharing this easy to follow video for pot holders! These will make great hostess gifts, seasonal gifts to include in a housewarming basket, bridal shower, etc.
amazing tutorial!! in the past, i have read instructions on how to make pot holders but being an inexperienced quilter, these relatively 'easy' projects are not so easy for me to understand. but having a visual tutorial, like you generously just made, is beyond helpful. your tutorial was informative, easy to understand and so clear to visualize. you have given me the confidence i needed to finally try making these pot holders. thank you for sharing. 🦋💞
Great tutorial - I didn’t know there was a wrong and right side to batting and now I do thanks to you! Thanks so much for sharing your tutorial - handmade potholders are such a great item in our homes and as a gift.
Thank you This is my favorite tutorial on potholders. (I've watched alot of them) I agree the rounded corners look so much better. We are going to make your potholders tomorrow on our weekly sewing day.
Love your potholders will be making some for Christmas gifts this year. Making all my gifts. Will look at your binding tutorial also. I too, hand stitch down the binding, have not master the sewing machine for that yet. Love the 20 patches for the longer dishes under them for the table. Stay Safe till the next time.
This was a very nice inspurational complete video. Well done. Now I need to get my scraps cut and organized. I dont have many because I'm just starting! Thank you!
I simply LOVE your videos! You are such a good teacher when giving instructions and modeling how to do the process, step-by-step. Potholders for Thanksgiving gifts will be my next project. Thank you for sharing all this great information!
Thanks Sherri. Greetings from Australia. A wonderful clear tutorial as always. Thank you. I am new to quilting and I am thoroughly enjoying learning from you.
I use my leftover jelly roll strips to make four potholders at a time. I have just gotten back to quilting since being ill and this is the perfect get back into quilting again.
Hi Sherri, These potholders are so cute. I love your tutorials you explain everything along with your tips and tricks make it easier for beginners. Blessings and take care. Mary
Your potholders are so cute. Thanks for the tutorial. I get lazy and just stitch around the edge and use pinking shears to trim. Of course, this is only on my own - not for someone else!
I have single layer polar fleece blankets that I never cut off the selvage. Though I think we might prefer a "finished" product as we would give others, it works for us.
The extra tab is a good idea! I hang my oven mitts on cupboard door handles, but these would add color to my kitchen as well as showing off my quilting, lol!
You've gained a new Subscriber!! Thanks so much. Love this tutorial. I don't understand the people that feel they HAVE to dislike something by making sure they've downvoted the video. (Why can't they just WALK away?) I think that's weird. These Pot Holders are amazing and WELL done! (ignore the haters.) LOL!
Thank you so much for this video! I subscribed months ago to a Mini Charm Pack Club through the Fat Quarter Shop, so I have several months of packs waiting to be used 🙂. I am super excited to make these lovely pot holders. What a great way to use them. Also, thank you for the helpful video on bias binding.
Hi Sherry. I love your tutorials. I need to make pot holders and these are very nice and great for presents. Love your sewing room and your quilts are beautiful
Such a great idea for very cheery potholders. I don't have any charm packs handy but I certainly have plenty of scraps to use in the scrap bag. It's a good time to get some gifts ready too since it looks like it will be a very quiet summer. I tried to download the PDF instruction sheet but it would not open. I'll try again later.
I have made my first pot holder. It’s also my first experience with bias binding. I was wondering if you would make a video showing how to put bias binding on. I had trouble getting the binding to go around the rounded corners without bunching up and getting pleats. Also, I had trouble joining the tails because there is such a small space between the tails. Thank you so much. I have learned so much from your videos.
You can watch my binding tutorial part 2 for this. I do it the same way as when I put binding on a quilt. Just leave one side completely unsewn until the ends are joined with a diagonal seam :)
Great video...I'm re-doing my kitchen so these will be a great addition. How do you attach the 2 ends of the binding together? The same as with a quilt?
I watched numerous videos and people sewed the binding to the back and flipped it to front. I didn’t like that look. I’m still learning. The back of my potholder looked good. I was thinking why do people sew it that way. Then I ran across your video. You started in the front then flipped it to the back.
I love this but I have a question, when and how do I sew the binding seam together???? Not to the potholder but to the binding to make a circle Thanks for making the videos
I have watched literally hundreds of youtube videos on making potholders. You gave more great tips than any of the others. Thank you!
I made a pot holder and had trouble sewing it because I cut it the same size as on the front 🙄...found out the hard way! Learned something new! I've just started quilting and I love it! I love watching your videos...Thank You!
A bonus of a machine with fancy stitches, is that I do a fancy zig zag stitch to attach the binding. It adds another design level as well
I’m not one to machine sew my bindings and will always hand sew them. So much neater looking. Thanks for the great tutorial.
I'm a newbie would love to see you sew. Love the project.
When one teaches, one should teach every step, I'm also a newbie, you don't even have a sewing machine in sight, you should show how you sewed the squares together. You seriously need to be more professional. Pretty pot holders, but you need to sew, maybe redo the video
You are an amazing teacher. Thank you for sharing. My potholders are sad looking and I needed an easy pattern.
Love the simplicity of these potholders. Wonderful beginner project and gift making! Love your idea of stitching the patchwork sections as you get scraps!
You’re adorable 😍

Thanks for this video. Great job. I was thinking I could practice some free motion quilting with these.
I hope I can eventually make potholders as nice as yours. Thank you.
Very fun and perfect for my many 2-1/2 inch square scraps.
You’re adorable 😍
How are you?
Those are really attractive, and would brighten up any kitchen fortunate enough to own some! Thanks! : )
I like to bring the backing to the front for the binding. Saves time for me.
Great idea! To be absolutely sure you have enough you could always make the backing fabric bigger than 12”.
Great tutorial. Slow and Easy. You pace was perfect. Keep up the great teaching!
Excellent thorough instructions and presentation. I look forward to seeing your other videos.
Sizi tanımıyorum ama sesiniz anlatım şekliniz çok güzel teşekkür ederim ❤😂 kolay gelsin

I like hand stitching binding also. Cute potholders.

Beautiful pot holder thanks
This is an amazing tutorial.Thank you! I'm working on my potholder right now and it's looking pretty good so far
Awesome tutorial ... thx
Wonderful instructions. Thank you soooo much.
I would like to see how you join the ends of the binding
together as you sew it onto the front.
You can watch my binding tutorial part 2 for this. I do it the same way as when I put binding on a quilt. Just leave one side completely unsewn until the ends are joined with a diagonal seam :)
Sherri McConnell - thanks. I will watch it. It just seems more difficult on smaller items.
Thank you!
easy tutorial I know I can succeed 👍thanks.
Great video...I'm re-doing my kitchen so these will be a great addition. How do you attach the 2 ends of the binding together? The same as with a quilt?
Yes, I leave the final side completely unsewn until I've joined the ends. I do it just like I do for a quilt with a diagonal seam.
I just love the this! So cute and helpful! 👍🙂🙋♀️☕
You’re alright 😍
How are you?
You stitch in the ditch from the front to sew your binding my the machine. Not from the back. Beautiful pot holders. 🇨🇦
You’re adorable 😍
How are you?
Thank you for this video.
I love your potholders..I am having issues with the bias tape.. how do you join your ends?
i use a canning jar lid/ring to round my corners
Adorable❣️❣️❣️

Sizi hep takip edeceğim❤🎉
Hand stitching the binding is therapeutic to me.
Very nice tutorial. I think I might try skipping all the cutting off the edges and fold the back over to make the edging.
You’re adorable 😍
How are you?
Beautiful 🤩 really good tutorial!
Good video, I would actually like to see you using the sewing machine as well
Me too!
I love this but I have a question, when and how do I sew the binding seam together???? Not to the potholder but to the binding to make a circle
Thanks for making the videos
Where can I buy pre-cut 2 1/2” squares? Love your tutorials. My thanks, Pat Wahl
Man I must use thicker batting than you do. This is a super thick pot holder!
Thank you! So cute
Thanks! I never knew there was a right and wrong side of batting either. How does it affect the quilt?
