I got a dellinger 7 and I swapped out the stock pick ups for a Pegasus and a sentient set. It’s now my studio guitar because of how solid the intonation is. The thing kills.
Wow....very suprised to learn Mike D is using the Billy Sheehan Blender pedal! You're not really gonna see that pedal in too many "metalcore" (god i hate that word) bassists "bag of tricks" nowadays. Just realized this is 6 years old so he may not even be using it anymore...a ton of KsE's sound has changed from album to album but if he's still using it then that's pretty friggin awesome! Billy is DEFINITELY one of my all time favorite bassist 🤘😝🤘
KsE is my absolute favorite band and I have seen them live 5 times. But at every show the sound guys crank the volume up so loud that everything is so muddy you can't hear the detail of any song. I'm not sure why they do that at metal gigs. I'd much rather have a lower volume and be able to hear all the sweet riffage.
It can be hard to hear the detail when you're playing in drop C. A lot of mud down there. Mostly because more overtones are audible in the human hearing range for lower notes. Hypothetically you can get all 12 pitches by overtones. Furthermore these notes are not equal tempered (they are just intonation). So they will make the notes wider and muddier. This is why most bass chords you see people play are well up the neck from open chords. So my money is on the muddiness being more a side effect of the arrangement and how the instruments work live as opposed to what they do for studio recording.
