The sky grows bigger every day And the other week I hopped on a train Cutting through state lines To come to you as the crow flies Out there in the open everything was melon and orange Did you know, my sweet That I once took the liberty of watching you in your sleep? And I just want you to know That every pool of water reminds me of you Is that all right? I hope you think it's cool 'Cause sometimes a train can't go as fast as I want it to Did you know, my sweet That I once took the liberty of watching you in your sleep? I rolled over and over Trying to touch your knees underneath the sheets Trying to touch your knees Everything seemed a little easier When we weren't one hundred miles apart The person across from me Sitting in her train seat, reminded me of you And I looked out past her cheeks Through the glass-light conduit But the sun had sunk Disappeared into New Jersey Oh, why don't they have phones on these things? What can I do? I'm stuck thinking about you. Did you know, my sweet That I once took the liberty of watching you in your sleep? I rolled over and over Trying to touch your knees underneath the sheets Trying to touch your knees
Hi, last night someone kept touching my knees and I didn't know who it was and I found this song and now I know who's been doing it... Chris Connolly you're going to pay for this
the perfect amalgamation of hot water music, lagwagon, the get up kids, lifetime, dag nasty and a handful of other influences. and the timing was right. 96 was pretty much the greatest year in music and all of the arts for that matter. the last great year for humans, really. and i was 16. i wish i had known then what i was experiencing. well, i guess i did. the five years after that and the five years before that were really the time of my life so......
anyone care to share their experiences with this band? so far i am totakly in live with this album but having a hard time aooreciating the follow up, despite its critical acclaim
Seeing them play in a couple weeks in London. Hope they play this. Think it's easily one of their best songs.
Same. Hope they play it!
The sky grows bigger every day
And the other week I hopped on a train
Cutting through state lines
To come to you as the crow flies
Out there in the open everything was melon and orange
Did you know, my sweet
That I once took the liberty of watching you in your sleep?
And I just want you to know
That every pool of water reminds me of you
Is that all right?
I hope you think it's cool
'Cause sometimes a train can't go as fast as I want it to
Did you know, my sweet
That I once took the liberty of watching you in your sleep?
I rolled over and over
Trying to touch your knees underneath the sheets
Trying to touch your knees
Everything seemed a little easier
When we weren't one hundred miles apart
The person across from me
Sitting in her train seat, reminded me of you
And I looked out past her cheeks
Through the glass-light conduit
But the sun had sunk
Disappeared into New Jersey
Oh, why don't they have phones on these things?
What can I do?
I'm stuck thinking about you.
Did you know, my sweet
That I once took the liberty of watching you in your sleep?
I rolled over and over
Trying to touch your knees underneath the sheets
Trying to touch your knees
This album is impossible for words to describe it united a generation, there's really not many people that can ever do that and remain genuine
Over time, this has overtaken Shoulder to the Wheel, You Vandal, and Always Ten Feet Tall as my favorite Saves The Day song.
great song, great album.

If you listen to the rare Americans intro from their third album James bought a guitar and played this song but it was a cover of say anything
