    I find the Misc. boxes a little confusing. Why do you need to have scute available at all times? Or sniffer eggs?

    • @EthosLab
      @EthosLab  11 месяцев назад +1676

      You are right to call it out, and I don't. The main purpose of the 2 Misc boxes is to provide a spot for the items in the storage system because those are items you mostly get naturally from playing the game. They are not crafted. If they do not have a spot, there will be a massive amount of items going to my overflow. I can get away with not keeping them in my ender chest if I am desperate for more space.
      On the other, there are some crafted items like trap doors and fences I would like in my ender chest that I don't want to make spots for in my storage system. I can do manually filled and maintained shulkers for things like that.

      I couldn't agree more. I've been finding myself less and less interested in a lot of RUclipsr's videos because they talk about what their build will be for 5 minutes, cut out all of the content of them building it, and then proceed to talk about it for another 10 minutes. I mean, I don't mind them talking about their builds, but watching them build it in the first palce is why I'm here. It takes away so much when they just cut to a finished product.

    That quip about trying not to let go of the past made me think... is it ever a burden to have such a long term audience who is so nostalgic for a channel like this? I personally really appreciate the consistent vibe of the channel over the past decade plus, especially with stuff like the older style of showing off building processes and whatnot. Even if its extra effort, it really shines through and keeps the magic of old Minecraft RUclips alive.

Seeing the creative process and following you along in your problem-solving is what makes this my favourite Minecraft series. I look around the LP world and feel a *connection* to every build, because I was there to see them planned, built, upgraded, maintained. If I wanted to look at pretty builds and cool redstone projects without gaining insight to the process behind them I'd be on Pinterest or TikTok or such.

    Hey Etho, happy to hear that you've been keeping an eye on our game! We were not involved in the development of TFC, but we were heavily inspired by it.
    Our game is indeed still under major development and will be for many more years. Our next two major updates will likely expand on our endgame content (Lore and Mechanization) and on average we bring out a major update every 9 months. That being said, there should be around 100 to 200 hours of engaging gameplay before reaching the current endgame. Some RUclipsrs simply revisit the game after 1 or 2 major updates. Hope that helps.

    • @DrShakamoto.
      @DrShakamoto. 11 месяцев назад +27

      Tbf does Minecraft really have endgame content? I've been playing Vintage Story for nearly two years and I believe Minecraft can't hold a candle to Vintage Story in any aspect when it comes down to the core gameplay, I love Minecraft but next to Vintage Story it really highlights the fact Mojang needs to improve the survival mode and add more content and new features to the game rather a few useless updates once or twice a year that only serve as advertisement and hype builders on social media.

      @@prydzen VS is similar to TerraFirma craft. So like, your first pickaxe is copper but it takes a bit of effort to get there. hey etho! you can power your rails on the top using observers - it's probably a little laggy having them constantly blink, but if you have two observers powering the rail alternating from each other, they'll keep it on. you can get this by having two observers facing into each other two blocks above the rail, and then have two more observers below those two pointing into the rails (note that you do need to push one of the two observers facing each other in with a piston to get the full speed observer clock)

    I'd love to see an episode of Etho just making simple farms for animals. It's been so long since starting a new world in this series that everything these days is some large scale complex project. I'd enjoy going back to the roots of Minecraft and seeing a chicken, sheep, and rabbit farm. I'd also like to see how he could come up with a way to automate scute farming.

    Etho is continually presented two choices: finish any other project or start a new storage system. His answer is obvious.

    I would absolutely love to see Etho play some other games on the channel, I’ve really started to realize ethos personality could carry a video on its own, luckily his personality tends to result in wacky ideas that are also entertaining.

    To the point you raised at the start of the video about youtubers just showing the results: I really like the videos where they also show the building process. It usually gives you a lot of insights in their technique of building and problem solving.

    I think the best thing about Etho’s upload schedule for the Let’s Play Series (or lack there of ;P) is that it means any new episode always feels fresh and never just there to fill in numbers. I love it.

    An Ergo video is already a blessing, but I really enjoyed your explanations in the video and even the parts when you got detailed. I'm definitely part of the older Etho crowd, but I think your video style is what keep people coming too and coming back to your channel. Take care!

    This channel is really a never-ending time capsule. It's been ages since I've been here, but feels the exact same as before. I can always return and know what to expect. It's been the same way for countless years now. A lot of it has to do with Etho, but a good chunk is because this game will always be legendary.

    I'm currently on episode 256 while I wait for HC season 10 to start. It's fun to go back and see when items where first introduced. Plus I didn't start watching Etho until HC season 7. So I missed a lot of his early stuff. It really is amazing how much time and effort he's put into this lets play world.

    if i had to pick one thing i admire most about your channel and the way you run things it's that you dont give into the trends that other creators have to cling to relevance. Because you dont have to. You create the kind of content that is so intrinsically unique, that the stuff other channels would cut is the stuff we want to see from you specifically!
    Just my .02 :)

    Instant dropper lines do exist, but they rely on the same BUD mechanic that you used for the minecart rails. You also can't use them for item filters because the items don't actually appear in the droppers, so hoppers don't pull from them. However, if you make a line of droppers with repeaters on top, they'll move items at 1 redstone tick/block, which is a little bit faster than water streams.
    P.S.: Thanks for letting us copy your item sets, I've been designing a storage system that's the same size and I've been procrastinating on assigning filters.

    Ref 3:50 - absolutely, I do enjoy the way you bring all along for the ride with your building! It's partly why I've kept watching for so long, 'cause other YTubers don't do that, and because they don't it feels impersonal.
    Please keep showing us the building like you have in the past

  • @WickenChing
    @WickenChing 11 месяцев назад +2

    Etho! For those minecart lines at the top of the storage system, why not raise the entire line up by one block with another layer of hoppers that feed directly into the hoppers below? Then you can power the rails from above without powering the hoppers or worrying about a storage-system-breaking update!

    Whoop! Well Sunday morning just got good 😁.
    Haven't watched it yet, but flicking through the comments, I'm gonna say I like that your videos often feel more like a conversation/interaction than a presentation compared to most youtubers. And then when you show us your frustration we feel it and understand why. Also, your sense of humor, glee, and (justifiable) pride when you do something really cool - technical, aesthetic or both (e.g. the dragon egg room). You just feel ... Relatable ... I guess?
    Watched for about 18 months.
