Finally! Someone actually went to find interesting stuff in this update instead of fiddling with the frogs. And what a huge load of info in this one. You made the update so much more exciting for me. Thank you!
Honestly it's crazy that there used to be llamas walking around sandy city. I have always wondered how he got those llamas to walk around in sandy city.
I realized that I’ve been watching you for years and years now…. Since the days of chocolate island I’ve been watching your content before I graduated university… before I started my career… before a purchased my first home and before I started my family Time flies and I really have to express how I am grateful for the DECADE of entertainment you have provided all of us. Thank you, Etho
I think the structure at the center of the ancient city is definitely a portal (to what I don't know but hopefully a new dimension). At first I was a bit hesitant at the theory but as time went on and more and more evidence kept being added like Music disc five i've become more confident that it is a portal. Plus the timing works out fantastically. 1.20 is the next update and personally I feel like 20 updates is a really big milestone that should be properly celebrated and what better way to celebrate it than with a brand new dimension to explore?
I think it’s a portal to the past , which would be the ‘4th dimension’…. Time travel would be an exciting addition to the game! The warden could be the ‘protector’ of the gateway.
This is my first Etho video, and needless to say I am definitely sticking around for more. That mud build left me flabbergasted- so simple, yet beautiful in a way. It feels incredibly unique
Just took speedbridging to a whole new level! Really happy you seem to be having more time for yourself now. Thanks for the amazing content as always, Etho.
Etho now has a new ultimate move..... Sneaky E Bridge Sliding! Personally I hope if Mojang does do something with the Portal frame, then they make it like a new Boss Raid event. Bosses would either have to have a swarm of mobs to distract spawned Wardens and/or have extremely high health to take being attacked by multiple Wardens & players. Would also play into the idea that the Warden wasn't in the Ancient City to keep trespasser's out, but to keep whatever is on the other side from coming in.
This brought me back to the old days when every new patch came out and you’d spend most of the episode testing out the new features. Loved the episode as always!
Personal theory: I honestly believe that 1.20 is going to be a skulk dimension with a boss in it OR a stand alone boss fight. The new 5 disk at the end of the disc has the sound of a portal lighting the person stepping through and then a MONSTOROUS roar from nothing in the game yet, then out of abruptness the disk ends. The warden, IF you can beat it, drops a skulk catalyst upon death, which to me sounds like a place holder item, which going back to the 5 disk we hear the person encounter a warden before the ending and either outruns it or somehow kills it. If its not a new dimension, it'll be a boss that comes through the portal once lit, either only a section that can fit through (as I imagine the boss being huge, kinda like the destroyer from borderlands) or a boss that'll roam around the deep dark. The warden is clearly protecting something, hence the name. But, I also feel as though it protecting Us from whatever is in the portal since it is summoned by the shriekers and if you already have him activated and another shrieker he'll instantly spawn at the shriker you just activated, trying to heed your progress of lighting the portal. (Etho: If you want to sue this, feel free to shorten it to whatever you want, but I feel as thought this theory has some strong foundation)
The highlight for me of this is etho visits an ancient city first imporession: "Where's all the blue stuff?! I was promised blue stuff?!" etho, after sucesfully spawning a warden: "ohhh, he's making a smell for it."
that packed mud is exactly what you asked for a few episodes ago, you asked for brown sandstone and its pretty close! you could use that for the walls on sandy city?
I think of all the games I’ve played, Terraria has nailed how gui’s work. Being able to interact with the world with items in your inventory is an excellent format
Yeah, terraria can pull off having so many items because there isnt really a hotbar. You can use anything in your inventory really easily without hassle
GUI that lets you interact with the world while it's open: great GUI that makes you scroll/click through a list/grid of items that are craftable only using the materials in your inventory while standing next to a specific crafting station: not great
Just caught up from ep 545 to here after not having watched Etho for a lot of years! Honestly, I enjoyed watching just as much as when I first subscribed back in 2013-ish? And honestly stoked that the intro/outro scenes are still the same! I can understand why people are asking about new singleplayer worlds, since the singleplayer has always been what content I enjoyed most, and the gameplay of the season 2 world has shifted so drastically, now that it's in something like a post-post-game content loop. I'd definitely enjoy a new side-series in vanilla MC to see Etho in the early game again! But I also understand why not putting himself into a position to redo a lot of the same or similar farms and concepts is on the mind. Ultimately though, I'm glad Etho is still enjoying the game, and I think that really shows through in the videos! I think that's the priority, over what content I or others miss or want to see. Much love everyone!
40:46 that pathway is by far one of my favourite areas you have built. I love the overgrown nature style, I cant wait till I play minecraft again as I'm definitely going to build a path like that somewhere in my world. glad to see you coming back Ergo, I'm always happy to see a new video just because I know I will spend the next half an hour relaxing and not dyeing in tarkov.
Deep dark city portal theory; through the mouth of the warden is a skulk cave with twists and dives like cave generations. The only material is skulk with sensors and screamers abound. Endless wardens guard the true treasure of the deep. Where water generates in a regular cave the strange fuzzy cloud fills parts of the skulk world. Like powder snow it can be picked and placed with a bucket. A strange thing happened to such an item found in a quiet still place when music is played.
That was the first thing I checked out, too. It's an integral part of my new base. The raw mud and muddy roots goes really well with deepslate and basalt for texturing.
when I found out initially that sculk sensors had redstone functions, I immediately thought of Etho toying with them, didn’t get to see him do so but I know I will soon!
The deep dark is coming out of the "portal" so what I would hope is some new endgame world you can teleport to. Someplace actually dangerous. It all seems to line up. They gave us wings so you can get around easier/fly through the portal. We got upgraded armor and weapons with the netherite. Now we got super speed boots and a whole teaching you how to sneak/showing you why it's important. I'm like 50% sure we'll get a new dimension in 1.20 or 1.21...
Oooohhh, theres a nice idea. Perhaps it could be a dimension that further explores the wardens style of "nearly impossible to fight" so that its much harder or impossible to reach that point of "nothing can hurt me" if a lot of work behind the scenes has been going into this dimension, maybe thats an excuse for the... lacklustre updates.
My girlfriend of five years left me last night. Looking back on it, I realize things had not been perfect for some time, but she just broke up with me suddenly. Never said anything was wrong, just told me that she didn’t love me anymore and had to leave. Anyway I am very surprised and heartbroken, but I am glad to have Etho who is like a longtime friend. Your videos are the only thing I can really keep concentrated on right now. Thank you for doing what you do.
I've never experienced exactly what you have, but I have been in a similar situation. It's fine to just distract yourself from the situation for a while and let your mind and body calm down, then you can think it through later if you need to so that it doesn't keep hurting you from the back of your head. I wish you the best of luck with your future Noah. Take it easy for now.
i took a break from watching etho just because i was so busy. i’m still busy but now i’ve since remembered how much watching these videos helped my mental health so i’m back lol
I really appreciate how Etho shows his approach discovering new things about blocks! It reminds me to hold off on googling immediately and to just test things out. :)
I have 2 theories about the “portal” in the deep dark. the first is that the its going to open a new plane of the overworld, giving you access to hidden stuff in your world, and the second is that it’s a magical machine, giving you access to over-enchant your gear, or maybe they’ll make it the way to get mending because mending is really op.
I'd take a guess and say it's the portal to where the screeching stuff and wardens come from and that's what made the place abandoned as this corruption came out and attacked... more of a lore thing but it makes sense to me
My honest opinion is that they are leaving the deep dark "portal" as an open-ended thing so that if they want to they can go back and add to it later. However, lore wise it seems that it is similar to the end city in the sense that it is a now-abandoned structure with no clear sign of its original owner, now infested with some dangerous creatures. If they do make it into a portal, they would definitely make it different to the existing dimensions as the nether is the incredibly hostile dimension, and the end is supposed to feel alien and strange. It would be interesting if it was a portal to a "peaceful" dimension, with new non-hostile NPCs. It would be interesting to hear your opinions of the "lore" of Minecraft, as I think that everything they add has the same "feel" as all of the previous Minecraft content, even if it is something completely new and different.
i really want to see a Update to the End first because it is such a boring and plain place to go to like how the nether was before they updated it they have to do the same for the End also
leave it like it is until they actually have a good idea what they want with it like when the End was just a dumb boss fight to add an "end" to the game before the 1.0 release but otherwise had no real function until later
I haven't played minecraft in years but I still enjoy watching other people play. I appreciate how etho investigates new updates and tries things out in an easy to understand way
Feel like they need to buff the wardens ability to chase people when they are making sounds. and nerf his ability to find people when not making sounds.. Also really hope there's a new dimension coming, maybe the "Warden" name is a hint? Some kind of prison dimension
Watch matpats video, it came from another dimension. In the files the mini versions of the big structure in the middle are called portals, but Mojane probably won’t make it accessible because 3 dimensions are enough.
I don't think they should nerf him when people aren't making sounds. At least not a lot. This is to promote sneaking around and be silent. Not just a hard mob just because. Now.. if they are close enough, he should "sniff" people out better, yeah
Been watching over 10 years, thank you for everything! Used to watch all the way in elementary school and now im going into medical school next year. Somethings never change, will always be watching Etho
I prefer extra constraints when playing Hardcore. Like a “nomadic” ruleset, where you can only use your inventory and one chest. Or you aren’t allowed to sleep the night away. Minor changes that make the game more interesting in addition to the hardcore aspect.

This is actually my first time watching Etho, and I was really intimidated where to start since this series is very long, though I have decided to join the journey from the latest episode and onwards!
Maybe its just me, but this really felt like a classic Etho let's play episode. I've always been a bigger fan of the multiplayer stuff but something about this one really felt... normal, in a way that almost nothing has in a year or two. Really glad to see you back in the swing of things Ergo!
For the portal, I definitely think it isn’t a new dimension as the creators said they didn’t want to add any new dimensions anytime soon before really fleshing out the already existing ones. I personally think the portal is more lore based instead of being actually functional.

You've come a long way since refusing to harvest that clay etho.
Of that brings one back! 😄
"Those aren't rare anymore" -Etho after pulling five notch apples in one city
I wish they brought back the old recipe although it would be overpowered.
The pure excitement in Ehtos voice when finally getting the book gave me so much joy!
This whole episode was filled with happy Etho.
something i love alot about this series is that i can just watch 1 episode randomly without needing to watch all the episode
I agree with you Etho, I don't really think hardcore adds anything to a normal series. For me, it's actually the opposite, I generally like to see the world evolve over time (like your world has for years), so knowing that it's going to end suddenly make it seem pointless.
True but it gets views
It's why I can't find it in my heart to watch Hermitcraft videos, the knowledge that it will all be lost is too off putting.
@@farshnuke hermitcraft isn't hardcore or am I missing something?
@@boiledegggaming8424 Yeah, Hermitcraft isn't hardcore but if it's at all like the mindcrack servers then each season they start with a different map and all the previous builds are gone
@@boiledegggaming8424 Essentially each season they start in a new world like dying in a hardcore map and having to start over
I really love the sound design of the warden, chills to my spine everytime.
Watching him work through the logic and implications of an update is so satisfying. It’s like a scientific process.
It's crazy how many years some of us have watch your let's play and videos. many of us dosn't even play minecraft anymore and I havn't for a good few years. I'm 27 years old now and I'm still looking foward to your videos. I have been watching your videos for over 10YEARS.... It is crazy how time flies. Thank you for everything.
Etho you are the greatest youtuber to ever live. I’ve been watching over a decade. You got me through some hard times. Thanks.
Man me too. I been watching this dude since I was like 7 or 8. He got me all throughout school and will get me thru college too :)
@@couch3urner428 bout to start college too man. Etho videos got me thru it all. Good luck to you
@@metrowarrior00 man good luck to you too :)
Etho's got one of the most loyal fanbases out there. There's a reason for it.
Same here. Been watching him for over a decade now since elementary school, still watching in college
Finally! Someone actually went to find interesting stuff in this update instead of fiddling with the frogs. And what a huge load of info in this one. You made the update so much more exciting for me. Thank you!
Honestly it's crazy that there used to be llamas walking around sandy city. I have always wondered how he got those llamas to walk around in sandy city.
yeah I always wander how the city gets etho to walk around the llamas.
I realized that I’ve been watching you for years and years now…. Since the days of chocolate island
I’ve been watching your content before I graduated university… before I started my career… before a purchased my first home and before I started my family
Time flies and I really have to express how I am grateful for the DECADE of entertainment you have provided all of us.
The new disc 5 tells us it is a portal indeed. But to a dimension we should never enter. The disc serves as a warning to what's on the opposite side
five apparently depicts the historic setting of "Minecraft Legends", so I wonder if it might actually be a portal to the past…
I think it’s a portal to the past , which would be the ‘4th dimension’…. Time travel would be an exciting addition to the game! The warden could be the ‘protector’ of the gateway.
Kingbdogz made one cool dimension, he can make another, especially when he's not the only one working on it.
@@Anaklusmos42 Why is the disc a clue? I don't actually play a lot of minecraft myself so I'm a bit lost on that!
This is my first Etho video, and needless to say I am definitely sticking around for more. That mud build left me flabbergasted- so simple, yet beautiful in a way. It feels incredibly unique
Just took speedbridging to a whole new level!
Really happy you seem to be having more time for yourself now. Thanks for the amazing content as always, Etho.
oh hey jearelle! (you don't know me I've just seen you on techno streams I think)
@@yolingc6589 I also have seen em in technos comment section lol
@@yolingc6589 Hi! Yes, that would be me :)
Yeah i got that feeling too. Also that mangrove terrain depression was a really neat moment for me.
This, i really enjoy etho unravelling mechanics and thinking about how they can be used
Also you know you're an OG minecraft player when you still call it a patch
Needed this. Etho always posting when needed
fr
@Don't Read My Profile Photo ok
Back in 2020, my dog and cat both died a week apart. But on the day one of them died Etho uploaded an LP and it was just what I needed.
Oh that’s cool, we get to see Etho use the redstone testing room that he built some time ago. Putting that room to good use with 3 test farms
The highlight for me of this is etho visits an ancient city
first imporession: "Where's all the blue stuff?! I was promised blue stuff?!"
etho, after sucesfully spawning a warden: "ohhh, he's making a smell for it."
that packed mud is exactly what you asked for a few episodes ago, you asked for brown sandstone and its pretty close! you could use that for the walls on sandy city?
I think of all the games I’ve played, Terraria has nailed how gui’s work. Being able to interact with the world with items in your inventory is an excellent format
Yeah, terraria can pull off having so many items because there isnt really a hotbar. You can use anything in your inventory really easily without hassle
Idk. I have played terraria 4-5 times and the crafting/inventory system has always confused me. I kind of figured stuff out but was never sure.
@@andrewbieny4564 It was definitely a learning curve for me too.
Even when I figured it out it still felt kind of clunky
GUI that lets you interact with the world while it's open: great
GUI that makes you scroll/click through a list/grid of items that are craftable only using the materials in your inventory while standing next to a specific crafting station: not great
Everytime Etho shows in my notifications my entire day gets a million times better
I think the portal in the ancient city is actually the bezel of a giant flat screen TV.
The Sculk catalyst spreads Sculk around it (similar to how moss works) whenever an entity dies near it.
Love the longer episodes Etho, thank you. I brought snacks!
Great Video, Etho i just wanted to mention there was a weird audio sound at 2:53. hopefully nothing is broken!
watching this while a storm rolls over, the happiest i’ve been in weeks. so grateful to see a new episode of the let’s play. thanks, etho!
WOO 1.19 ETHO LETS GOO
so excited to see etho play with sculk sensors
I like how the first 1.19 thing etho did was play with mud, a feature most don’t care about but he does simply because it’s a pretty block
That was the first thing I checked out, too. It's an integral part of my new base. The raw mud and muddy roots goes really well with deepslate and basalt for texturing.
The giggle and amazement after experiencing the Swift Sneak enchantment put the hugest smile on my face. 😁 Thanks for all you do Etho!
when I found out initially that sculk sensors had redstone functions, I immediately thought of Etho toying with them, didn’t get to see him do so but I know I will soon!
Nothing can make my day more than an Etho video, especially a Let’s Play :D
The deep dark is coming out of the "portal" so what I would hope is some new endgame world you can teleport to. Someplace actually dangerous.
It all seems to line up. They gave us wings so you can get around easier/fly through the portal. We got upgraded armor and weapons with the netherite. Now we got super speed boots and a whole teaching you how to sneak/showing you why it's important.
I'm like 50% sure we'll get a new dimension in 1.20 or 1.21...
Oooohhh, theres a nice idea. Perhaps it could be a dimension that further explores the wardens style of "nearly impossible to fight" so that its much harder or impossible to reach that point of "nothing can hurt me"
if a lot of work behind the scenes has been going into this dimension, maybe thats an excuse for the... lacklustre updates.
Would expect it to be much later. More like 1.24 or 1.25
My girlfriend of five years left me last night.
Big up my man Noah hope ur good
Don't worry scars heal take your time things will get better
Noah keep you head up. It was just a woman. You are you
Relationships are temporary
Ethoslabs is permanent
I've never experienced exactly what you have, but I have been in a similar situation.
It's fine to just distract yourself from the situation for a while and let your mind and body calm down, then you can think it through later if you need to so that it doesn't keep hurting you from the back of your head.
I wish you the best of luck with your future Noah. Take it easy for now.
i took a break from watching etho just because i was so busy. i’m still busy but now i’ve since remembered how much watching these videos helped my mental health so i’m back lol
Was rewatching Project Ozone because I needed my Etho fix and then this popped up! Good stuff, good stuff as Etho often says!
:) I’m in the middle of a walk, but now I have something to look forward to when I get home.
I've literally lost count on how many times I've watched the Project Ozone II series.
@@BonedollPlays I'm on at least 5
I really appreciate how Etho shows his approach discovering new things about blocks! It reminds me to hold off on googling immediately and to just test things out. :)
I have 2 theories about the “portal” in the deep dark. the first is that the its going to open a new plane of the overworld, giving you access to hidden stuff in your world, and the second is that it’s a magical machine, giving you access to over-enchant your gear, or maybe they’ll make it the way to get mending because mending is really op.
They can't go any deeper right? Skylands?
I'd take a guess and say it's the portal to where the screeching stuff and wardens come from and that's what made the place abandoned as this corruption came out and attacked... more of a lore thing but it makes sense to me
@@Xeno-The-Wanderer Love that theory!
I love the detail of the mud moulds and having everything next to the wheat fields! It adds a lot to how realistic the build is, really cool idea!
It would be interesting to hear your opinions of the "lore" of Minecraft, as I think that everything they add has the same "feel" as all of the previous Minecraft content, even if it is something completely new and different.
i really want to see a Update to the End first because it is such a boring and plain place to go to like how the nether was before they updated it they have to do the same for the End also
leave it like it is until they actually have a good idea what they want with it
like when the End was just a dumb boss fight to add an "end" to the game before the 1.0 release but otherwise had no real function until later
I haven't played minecraft in years but I still enjoy watching other people play. I appreciate how etho investigates new updates and tries things out in an easy to understand way
One of my favorite things is when Etho reviews the buildability of the new blocks, like what they go well with and stuff.
An idea for the mud workshop, you could make a mini water wheel to “power” the workshop. Loved the video!
Feel like they need to buff the wardens ability to chase people when they are making sounds. and nerf his ability to find people when not making sounds..
Also really hope there's a new dimension coming, maybe the "Warden" name is a hint? Some kind of prison dimension
That sounds like a perfect change to fit the warden better
Give him a hookshot that slows and/or makes flight impossible.
Watch matpats video, it came from another dimension. In the files the mini versions of the big structure in the middle are called portals, but Mojane probably won’t make it accessible because 3 dimensions are enough.
Make it like the tank in left 4 dead
I don't think they should nerf him when people aren't making sounds. At least not a lot. This is to promote sneaking around and be silent. Not just a hard mob just because. Now.. if they are close enough, he should "sniff" people out better, yeah
I have never been more proud of the evolution of builder etho than I am right now. An aesthetic clay maker shop, perfect!
Been watching over 10 years, thank you for everything! Used to watch all the way in elementary school and now im going into medical school next year. Somethings never change, will always be watching Etho
Got an Etho ‘eh’ and him giggle over setting fires. Good episode. You’re now an even sneakier ninja :)
every time etho uploads my day gets 10 times better
I prefer extra constraints when playing Hardcore. Like a “nomadic” ruleset, where you can only use your inventory and one chest. Or you aren’t allowed to sleep the night away. Minor changes that make the game more interesting in addition to the hardcore aspect.
Only Etho can make 26 minutes of content out of mud
Maybe Primitive Technology too but you get my point lol
12:13 -- Random Thought from a very old viewer! I think you should grow at least one large mangrove tree near Sandy City for added contrast and wow factor. I felt a disturbance in the Von Sway.
This series is amazing, Etho your commitment is astounding!
Everytime there’s an update I’m always so excited to see you explore it. I love seeing you test out and experiment with the new features :) Great episode Etho!
Etho!! Seeing the upload notification always puts a big smile on my face, I’ve been loving the content lately :D
Memento Mori, friend
This is actually my first time watching Etho, and I was really intimidated where to start since this series is very long, though I have decided to join the journey from the latest episode and onwards!
I have a cat on my lap and Etho just uploaded. Perfect timing.
40 minutes, oh mann we're in for a treat, glad you are back and seem to be enjoying playing as much as we enjoy watching you :)
There definitely should've been more sculk in your deep dark, It must've been a generation glitch.
This is 100% minecraft content. Love your old school style.
Can't wait to see what you do with the new mechanics in 1.19
It is really nice that Minecraft updates add features that are wanted from mods and also not found in mods
Was making some midnight noodles and found the perfect video to go with it. Thanks Etho!
Etho really shows how good this update is in this video. So many interesting mechanics and new blocks that fill in needed colors and textures.
I’m glad you ended up sticking with the amplified terrain, it looks so cool
Etho be like a hardcore series is just like a normal series to me just because the fear of losing my old world is always real anyway
Etho's back, you love to see it.
The nether and the end feel pretty flushed out at this point.
Dude has such a pleasant voice to just listen and chill to. And the building style is so *comfortable*.
