You are the most positive RUclipsr I have watched about Soul Hackers 2. Every other JRPG RUclipsr have seen gave this one mediocre average or bad ratings.
So i finished playing Valkyria Chronicles, and while I initially wasn’t a huge fan of it, the gameplay and story grew on me the more I played it and ended up really enjoying the characters and the unique gameplay style. I was left wanting more SRPG’s, and considering that Soul Hackers 2 came out but I couldn’t satisfy my SMT urge cause of having Nintendo stuff, I ended up starting Devil Survivor 2: Record Breaker on the 3ds. I absolutely loved Devil Survivor 1, so the gameplay is already up my alley, now I just have to see how the story develops as I’m still just in day 3. I of course want to play Xenoblade 3, but considering that I just beat 2 and that I’ve yet to actually play torna, I think I’m gonna play that one first and eventually get into playing 3.
My game of the month was Xenoblade 3 and I ended up finishing the main story and doing most of the side content and just a little bit of post game stuff. My final playtime ended up being about 112 hrs and I'm looking forward to the DLC content planned over the upcoming year or so. I also started playing soul hackers 2 after finishing xenoblade 3 and have had an enjoyable time overall. The characters and battle system are definitely the highlights for me as the dungeons and story have been a bit underwhelming if I'm being honest. This month I'm also looking forward to Trails from zero at the end of the month and hopefully wrapping up AI the somnium files nirvana initiative. Thanks for the video!
August was pretty much all Xenoblade 3 for me xD I'm over 80 hours and I'm on Chapter 6, but I keep doing side quests... so I'm not sure when I'll be done, but I want to at least see the end of the story itself soon. As for September, I hope to finish Xenoblade 3, and hopefully finish off some of the other games that got pushed back because it came out, like my close-to-finished playthrough of Final Fantasy X, and clear the pallette somewhat by the time Star Ocean The Divine Force comes out in October.
No J/RPG last august for me, though I mostly spent it finishing off Fatal Frame Maiden of Black Water on Wii U in order to make space to grab Xenoblade Chronicles X's Data Packs so I can properly play it without the constant disc reading noise. I've started it last weekend and I'm already at Chapter 4. Can't wait for every week-end to come in order to continue my playthrough while the rest of the weeks I spent them playing shorter games on 3DS and PS4.
I'm still plodding along with cold steel 2 (playing it right now!). 60 hours so far. Souk hackers 2 was brought day1 and went straight on the back log :D Trails of zero soon, I hope I get cold steel 2 done before that. Add in valkyrie profile 3 and maaaybe deofield, it's gonna be an expensive month
I'm going to get soul hackers 2 when there is a price cut. i cant wait for trails from zero though , it might be my most anticipated Jrpg of the year. great video as always Tara.
Most of my gaming in August was while in a hotel in Parramatta playing Xenoblade Chronicles 2 and Hyrule Warriors on my new Switch. Since I came back home I have been playing Soul Hackers 2. Thinking about TemTem and definitely Trails from Zero.
According to Backloggery, I finished 100%ing Brutal Legend, beat Lara Croft and the Temple of Osiris. Other than that, last month was kinda messy because I got back into Runescape due to a friend and he gifted me a bond(2 weeks of paid membership), so I barely played anything else in that time. According to my Steam account, I at the very least opened Moon Hunters, Battleblock Theater, Overcooked! 2 and such as well, but its hard to tell what I actually played in September because sometimes I open a game and then I change my mind and close it or I open it to factcheck something.
August was primarily new games for me: Xenoblade Chronicles 3, Live a Live, The Legend of Heroes: Trails Before Dawn and Pac-Man World Re-Pac September plans i guess is Splatoon 3, I already played trails from zero and not looking to replay it anytime soon after playing two other trails games in the past month or two
Spent August on Persona 5 Strikers which really surprised me with how well the Persona battle system translated into an action game. Now playing Blue Reflection Second Light. Looking forward to so many upcoming releases Trails, Valkyrie Elysium, Harvestella, DQ Treasures, Neptunia, Gust’s next game. Can’t remember the last time I’ve been hyped for so many games coming so close together. Usually I’m only this heavily interested in 2-3 titles per year.
In August, I blew through Stranger of Paradise and FINALLY got around to playing 13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim! But I had to move and all of my stuff is currently in storage so I've been itching to finish. Since then, I've just been playing Persona 4 Golden on my Vita, trying to wrap up the plat.
I'm behind. Still need to play persona strikers, tales of arise. Trails of cold steel 3 and 4. And I'm interested in soul hackers 2. Currently my time is in horizon forbidden West and dark souls 1.
For me I plays XC3 and Soulhacker 2. It's so funny how in XC3 there is also a class named "Soulhacker" as well. 🤣 I also played and finish XCX which I left on my Wii U for years.
I tried out the Adventure Academia demo on PS5. It wasn't as polished as I had hoped for. Steam reviews also seem pretty bad. I'll wait for your review before deciding to purchase xD
Nice video! August was kinda obvious since how long xenoblade 3 is 😅 I'm a bit sad about soul hacker 2, the game fine and everything but i'm kinda bored with it. For example smt 5 was more interesting to play for me. I don't know why. Since 2 days i play dysney light, it's like animal crossing and free with gamepass. I enjoy it somehow (i was so skeptical at first 🙈).
I finally got Rune Factory 5 last week and am enjoying it at the time being. I honestly have no plans to get Xenoblade Chronicles 3 simply because I don't feel like diving into new franchises that are basically long playthroughs. Only big games I'd be willing to play are from franchises I already adore like Kingdom Hearts. Of course it'll be awhile before 4 comes, but hey I can wait lol. Oh while this is not a JRPG, but an Indie Otome, most of the month I have been playing a game called Our Life: Beginnings and Always, and I became obsessed with it. It's weird how I haven't really watched any coverage of TGS in the past and I should since I prefer games by Japan than any other country with that anime style. Maybe it's because I don't know if there will be any games announced for the west or if there's any English subtitles for any announcements. Do they actually use subtitles?
I think Koei Tecmo was nice enough to provide subtitles to an Atelier stream (perhaps last year?). I feel like Square Enix has before too. But otherwise it depends on the company, so it is easier just to read the coverage from outlets after in a lot of cases. It’s good Japanese practice for me, so I don’t mind sitting through it :) (and trailers tend to speak for themselves ^__^)
I'm sad to admit that I'm really behind on JRPGs. I haven't picked up Soul Hackers 2 or Xenoblade 3 yet. Since I won't have time for both, I'm still deciding which one to get first. Maybe Xenoblade 3.
since you are a JRPG channel i would like to make you aware if you are not already of a kickstarter for armed fantasia and penny blood pretty much wild arms and shadow hearts spiritual successors of course support at own risk but i love shadow hearts so im trying to spread the word
my experience with ps5? ok, i just can say the hardware is a lot better than the last gen's pro edition. BUT sony took away the themes and lot of socialmedia stuff. when i turn on my old ps3 and see what this console has on it, i like to cry. the ps5 has nothung more than the option to play games and get apps like netflix, crunchyroll ect. it is just sad.

Xenoblade 3 was my August time sink. I’m just completely enamored by the characters, story, and setting. Already clocked in 230 hours haha

The Trails from Zero story is pretty solid. It's not until Azure that it gets really good though. But the worldbuilding is spectacular in both!

I'm kind of embarrassed to admit it, but I picked up Disgaea 5 for the switch. It is surprisingly good.
For me I plays XC3 and Soulhacker 2. It's so funny how in XC3 there is also a class named "Soulhacker" as well. 🤣
