    CTK, Consolidated Tool Kit, is the Air Force tool control program, where tool boxes are managed through Shadow inserts in the tool drawers, where when issued and returned, empty slots mean a missing tool. Whenever we jumped the tubes, (jet intake, exhaust inspection) we only had EMPTY pocket uniforms, and cotton coveralls with no pockets. The only thing we could take into the intake was a flashlight and an extendable mirror, and usually we had a ground man at the intake making sure we came back out with the same, although an empty hand was a clue. I still have my intake overalls (30 years later, :-)). My greatest fear when running engines was to do a post inspection and find FOD damage, so we had a full team effort in place. Ran jets for probably 6 years, never blew a motor. If he left a flashlight in the intake, he was not the right person jumping the tube, nor was his ground man or supervisor paying attention. Definitely a team fail.

    Two helicopters were used to portray Airwolf. One that was used for the flight sequences is the one that crashed in Germany on an EMS mission. The other was used for the ground sequences or “the stage” and was the prototype Bell 222. Would love to see a reboot using a Bell 429.

    So this story of the missing fasteners made me laugh. I was flying home from Mexico to Ontario Canada on Air Canada Rouge this past Sunday. It was an airbus 319. I was sitting over the wing and looked out the window well we were waiting for push back and noticed 4 little screws missing out of a trim panel. The person ahead of us heard me mention it to the wife well chuckling. He turned around and said do we say something. I said no it's probably fine looks like just a trim part and there is still 10 screws there. Lol
    I didn't want to get our flight canceled and I was pretty sure it was not a big deal. 🙃

    I was stationed at Eglin AFB (Sep1998-Sep2021) and would cruise Eglin Pkwy that paralleled the runway in hopes of chasing a four ship departure with unlimited climbs. Each one was as you described it Mover. Too bad I was driving to the hospital working 12’s in the ICU. I’m 45 now with my private pilot cert working on instrument then commercial. I love hearing about your Eglin stories. My experience there was much different. Really enjoy your show.

    I suspect the Air France A350 tailstrike guys had the ROW/ROPS warning go off as they started the decel and then carried out a balked landing. ROW/ROPS is a fancy optional extra which Gonky definitely won't have , way fancier than CPDLC. It gives you a warning if your decel rate is not enough for the runway length remaining.
    From what I understand the pitch law in the A350 and NEO Airbus jets is different from the CEO jets during take off rotations. It pitches faster in my experience. Total ball ache when you do V1 cuts , put the same pitch input in (for a ceo A320 jet) and it over pitches (shoots up to 15ish degrees too quickly).
    Combine that with the startle factor of the row/rops warning and being tired at the end of a longhaul flight and this is easily done.

    I think it was Wombat who mentioned cops and dark humor. I’ve been a Deputy Sheriff for 19 years and for sure, humor is a method for grieving. It’s an outlet for what we feel when we see horrible things done to innocent people. It’s how we mentally cope with - and process - what we see and experience. Everyone needs to an outlet for traumatic events they experience; and when one event becomes multiple over time, the “outlet” spigot needs to be open… all the time. Humor is that spigot. It’s just a way to process and grieve.

    • @paulholmes672
      @paulholmes672 7 месяцев назад

      That is incorrect, sir. The plane was called the Lightning 2 as an homage to another famous Lockheed aircraft, the P-38 Lightning, due to it being the first fully designed and legendary Lockheed fighter since the 50's (F-117 was a hush-hush Skunk Works design). The Raptor (F-22) was conceived as a study by General Dynamics and was taken over by Lockheed/Boeing, and was always considered early on as an Eagle air superiority replacement, hence the Bird of Prey moniker.

    Dark humor side--I was in a bank one day and it got robbed. Four police showed up, the guy was gone but someone had a cell phone picture of him. We were standing in a huddle looking at it, trying to see if anyone recognized him. The police supervisor walked in and joined the huddle. He looked at the picture and said "That's Kenny! They always kill Kenny". (South Park reference) ha ha! There was a sense of relief.

  • @theshawnmccown
    @theshawnmccown 7 месяцев назад +1

    Talent is just where passion and practice come together. I remember back in high-school and even after, there would be people saying, "If I had your artistic talents, I'd do -fill in the blank-." And I always told them, "No you wouldn't. You don't have the passion to learn and develop it, let alone do something with it.".
    They think people who are good at something were just born with it, and it's effortless. But, it's passion to do something that develops that part of the brain to where it becomes more natural to learn things related.

    • @theshawnmccown
      @theshawnmccown 7 месяцев назад

      @NoName-zn1sb These aren't people pursuing that field, but people who have zero interest in doing it but want to steer where others go with it. Two of my daughters are excelling in character design, animation and illustration because I convinced them that if they love it, they can do it. Nobody is born with a magical talent. They just have to want it bad enough to practice and develop what they pursue.
      I know people who believed that photography was some artistic skill that you had to be born with. They finally threw that lie aside and are now doing it as a full-time business and loving life.
      But, there are so many who want to tell others what to do with their talents and skills but don't want to pursue that field themselves.

    Speaking about getting the masks off. Since I've seen video of people drowning or burning because they cant work the straps. Each time I fly I make my PAX put the straps on, unbuckle, and do it again and unbuckle while not looking. They have to do that before I strap myself in. (Taking about flying Pipers here). I also have a knife just for straps. It's amazing how many people panic and cant do a simple task. While suffocating it would only be so much worse.

    I said this about the yacht buzzing video when you guys first aired it; that shot is for a Turkish TV series featuring 2 Turkish F-16 pilots.
    Not a very good show and is made by TRT, which is the government's propaganda channel but regardless, they shot that one for real.
    And it's supposed to be a Greek Coast Guard boat (harassing Turkish fishermen), not an oligarch's yacht.
    He's flying that low because a Greek jet is behind him and is trying to get a lock.
