Fellas, any of your patreons ever suggest Highly Suspect? Y'all should check out Bloodfeather. It's a cautionary tale, not to fall for women who belong to the streets basically. That's about as nice as I can put it.
Mr. Scary is a “ neeed to do”! No doubt
Just a fast rocking killer tune -- The musicianship is really good, everyone knows George Lynch (The guys a guitar genius and MONSTER player) but the whole band just ripped on this CD, Mick Browns drumming is really underrated and holds it together, the whole band was tight.... Great song from start to finish and just listen to that "Guitar tone".. That guitar sounds likes its going to explode through the speakers, my goodness what a GREAT Marshall tone!!.. ... Monster track!
Maiden is the original for the galloping riffs!
Dokken🤘🏼🥰🤘🏼
You're absolutely WRONG this time about over the top guitar solo's, this was an era of shredders where they separated the men from the boys. We all love the way Lynch plays
Usually I agree with him about the solos but this time he is wrong. The lead fits really well with the song and not over the top.
Hate Lynch. Go lift some more weights, & bulk up George. And don't forget the tanning bed. A guitar solo should in most every case FIT the groove & vibes of a song. And really "hate" isn't what I meant (just from the hip comment) and shouldn't have gone that far. I'm just not-much of a Dokken fan. Just another 80s "hair metal, pop band like Poison. However this tune is kick ass! Cool riffs & groove. Sorry (NOT sorry) I think Lynch is way, WAY overrated. He's no doubt a good guitarist. Did the solo go on too long? I think so. First part of the guitar solo was cool... but it went on & on too long. George & Ryan are very objective. They certainly didn't dead wrong. And CERTAINLY the "Lynch mob" fans are going to be pissed off. That's all I was responding to. George/Ryan are exceptional in their reviews of heavy Rock & Metal bands. Especially for a couple of guys who're really into Hip Hop and R & B even more so.
@@josefsreba6702 jealous much? Lol
@@CL8ON6 No and never felt jealous of any players. Troll on brother, troll on...
Josef Sreba Nobody is right every time. 90% of the time they are right… this time they missed the boat. George Lynch is great. He and DeMartini were the best of a certain era.
George Lynch is one of the greatest guitar players ever
This was a PERFECT solo. He wasn't needlessly shredding like Malmsteen or that type. Lynch had great melody and taste. I've been playing for 30 years and Lynch is very tasteful and one of my top 5 ever.
Lynch is so underrated in my book…. He’s one of the few that kills it both on rhythm guitar and his solos…… his solos always fit the song perfectly
Lynch is a stud. His stuff has meaning and fits the mood. It takes me places.
agreed. This solo fit the groove and intent of the song. Lynch is a killer player and always seems to nail the solo that the song needs.
Malmsteen very rarely "needlessly shreds". Maybe actually listen to his music instead of regurgitating this npc opinion
Agreed - George's playing was flawless
Nah, George totally served the song well here. It's a banger, and shred is just what it needed. 80's rock was a shoot-out when it came to guitar, and George brought the big guns.
This is probably there best song IMO , Back For The Attack is my favorite Dokken album by far. Lynch is an absolute beast , killer shredding on this and i love the haunting outro licks as the song fades out! P.S. You're spot on about George , have you seen him doing this song with Dokken from last month. He hasn't lost a step and still goes ballistic on this song!
Back when I was listening to a ton of 80s rock/metal, I always thought George Lynch was the best guitarist in any of those bands. Idk if I would still agree with that or not but there's no doubt that he was criminally underrated.
@@mikeg.9238 This album is absolutely badass and not in small part due to Lynch's amazing and unique guitarplaying
@@samskott2344 I think you're correct , i'd put Jake E up there also!
@@Walamonga1313 Yeah that's right , i don't quite think the guys understand that. His playing and going off on these song's is what made them great. He is the cog in the Dokken wheel. Without him they would not have gotten noticed...
when you have a weapon like George Lynch, you gotta let him loose dude...and he's still tearing it up live
This album more than the others really let George off the chain.
@@joebalusikiii5811 yea he's really breaking the chains on this one
Sweet!@@SecretlyStarscream
That solo is epic and perfect!!!!!!
Totally agree!!!!!! Ryan's wrong in this one......
George Lynch -- his style and his tone -- was the best part of Dokken, for me.
"Unchain The Night" is a Dokken MUST hear!
SHITYA'!!!
dream warriors and burning like a flame
Into the fire
They had so many good songs and that’s one of them.
The hunter
George was the most under-appreciated shredder from that era.
Oliva go Brrrrrrrrrr!
He's still sick , did you see him play with Dokken last month , doing this song. He's ridiculous and hasn't lost a step!
quasipseudo1 What are you talking about???? George was never underappreciated. Maybe now, but he made his legend back then. He was all over the guitar mags & hugely influential. He's a titan in the guitar world.
@@inspectorbudget Absolutely correct , the guy who was really underrated and didn't get the recognition he should have was John Sykes as far as i'm concerned!
@@mikeg.9238 Agreed.
That's why its sometimes called GLAM rock/metal. "Over the top" is completely in order for this style of music. Tooth and Nail by Dokken is another great one.
"Tooth and Nail" - #1 song on my workout playlist
I consider them hard rock or metal.
And Breaking The Chains comes to mind..... probably on Tooth and Nail.
Definitely not hair metal...more progressive
@@brianjinglea1 Dokken is a very pure kind of metal. Very under-rated band, I mean they had their
own thing going - one of the best.
Dokken was a “go to” for me for a 5-6 year stretch back in 80’s early 90s
Highly recommend Mr Scary by these guys. George is an amazing guitarist. One of my favs from this era.
Classic track, but they wouldn't get it.
George might like it, Ryan would hate it lol 😆
That over the top guitar is exactly what sold Dokken albums. I was in school when this dropped, and my friends and I couldn't give Lynch our money fast enough!
Doubt that. Their biggest faction was chicks. They usually could care less about solos. And if we're being honest, most guys could care less about solos. I say this as a guitarist.
@@biffbarely7045 I beg to differ concerning Lynch. You may be right concerning bands like Motley or Poison but George definitely commanded some care above other glam bands. As the original poster stated, George was at least half the draw of Dokken.
@@inspectorbudget we cant forget that Dokken style was much more lean toward speed/heavy metal than other glam bands. Back for attack is basically a heavy metal album.
@biffbarely7045 I know a few guys who say that, usually because they lack technical ability, but overall almost every guy I know loves solos. All of us being guitarists.
George is a monster.
He consistently creates solos that are never ostentatious and full of fluff.
His solo for "In My Dreams" was declared by (IIRC) Guitar World magazine as the Best Solo for that year.
"Dream Warriors" solo won the same in Guitar For The Practicing Musician for the corresponding year.
That solo was spot on. Lynch is a master axman.
On the same album George Lynch has a instrumental called "Mr. Scary" that makes this track seem simple in comparison.
Excellent song!
Ryan won’t like it… not his style of shred
Monster tune!!!💪🏻
yes
Badass track
The solo is well constructed. He wasn’t out of control
Ryan you are usually on the money but maybe you could be wrong here, that guitar solo matches the rhythm section nicely IMO
Lynch just violated Ryan so harshly that he couldn't take it
Yeah, rare cold take
If they think Lynch wasn't tasteful and "too much" then they best stay miles away from Malmsteen hahahaha
@@Moveplaylift Quick. Give them Trilogy to listen to. Lmao
Ryan if you think George Lynch is overplaying, would you apply the same standard to Dream Theater songs? IMO they are the poster boys for "showing off" musically. All of them are musical virtuosos but they like to show off their skills , as you stated, to the detriment of the songs.
I thought the overkill solo fit in the song perfectly. It's pretty high energy up to the solo, which is like a climax to that.
Solo is the best part of the song
@@Walamonga1313 the riffs and vocals are pretty good too
This is one of the better Dokken songs, but It's Not Love is probably my favorite, great riffs and catchy chorus. Mr Scary is an instrumental that is one of the best displays of George Lynch
I believe the band admitted this song was about AIDS in an interview back when it was released.
Yea that one is such a great underrated track by dokken
@@Preacher357 Yeah, I remember it being said by someone in the band that it was about AIDS.
Yes, Steve..Check out that song live in Philly in 87 while they opened for Aerosmith .
Yes they need to react to Mr. Scary
"Just Got Lucky" from Dokken is a good one
Dokken's first 4 albums were awesome. Their Dream Warriors music video is kind of hilarious. Was made for Nightmare on Elm Street 3 (One of the best sequels). Which had them scaring off Freddy with their playing to the point where he wakes up and says "What a nightmare. Who were those guys?"
My favourite song from them is Lighting strikes again, a huge heavy metal song
This and that song are killers!
Breaking the Chains is also an excellent tune by them.
@@kl8455 Yep , there's a lot of good songs , too many to name. But also all those albums up to Back For The Attack were good , they got better on every album. Even that live album from Japan was excellent!
Lightning Strikes? That's a terrible song
@@FrancisSawyer No it's not , that's your opinion. It's not the greatest but not horrible either!
These guys are incredibly underrated. Perfect mix of heaviness and melody. Great band.
Daaaaamn I loooooved this. I thought I knew who Dokken was but I'd never heard that one before. My neck hurts from headbanging to that!
Guess you never owned a copy of 1987's "Back for the Attack." Arguably one of Dokken's best albums. Some old schoolers prefer "Under Lock & Key" or "Tooth & Nail", but "Back" was my favorite album. Wasn't a bad song on it and the tracks flowed well from one to the next.
The entire album is excellent.
@@gregd8427 Their best!
Dude, this solo wasn't overtly technical at all, and it fits the song very well, Ryan likes somes solos that are way more "wankery" and not musical like this one. This wasn't just up and down scales, there's melody, cohesion and creativity there for sure.
Exactly
This one flowed quite well, as did the outro lead playing at the end. What I find interesting is near the end its like George and Don Dokken are battling for attention and trying to one up eachother almost. George shreds and Then Don yells in the most controlled skilled mix of singing maybe on the album and then George comes in again and then Don hits the high singing part again. It was like a little duel, which is funny because they were always bumping heads, especially around this time(1987)
PS...
Tesla- Little Suzy or Modern Day Cowboy.
Whitesnake- Still Of The Night
Modern Day Cowboy for sure, that song has great riffs. And Still of the Night is long overdue
Agreed they really need to check out Tesla
Yes🤘🏼🥰🤘🏼
ANYTHING from that white snake album is straight fire!!
I wish I could listen to Dokken for the first time again. Lowkey jealous of what y’all get to do. 😉🤘
Glad i found them two weeks ago. I was looking for similar tunes like van Halen and dokken got recommend on Spotify. I literally got an orgasm listing to this song the first time. That scream in the end was the icing on the top.
WhenI was a senior in high school I went to a concert that was Dokken opening for Dio. It was an amazing pairing of bands. Perfect. Glad you picked up on that
George Lynch is a master. I understand the critique. Hopefully, you’ll seek out some of his other projects to get the full scope of his abilities. Recently, KXM has some really strong stuff. Dokken always struck as marginally talented at best.
I'm usually with you Ryan, but imo, Lynch nailed the hell out of this solo. I think it fits the song well. Dazzling but not overkill.
If Ryan wants to hear a more controlled and melodic George Lynch hit up “Unchain the Night”. Still an excellent song with great riffage. Sometimes it is just hard to contain the Beast!
Exactly!
Dokken-Tooth and Nail live from Beast from the East is one you can't miss. George is the man!
Beast from the East is best listened to after hearing the studio versions of songs enough to notice all the differences and extra flare that George Lynch adds to each song live.
Despite his notoriety among guitar players and enthusiasts George Lynch is way underrated among the average music listeners.
The intro to Paris is Burning is crazy good
Personally, I think Ryan may not be familiar with guitar oriented rock / metal that has extensive solos. Today's music has strongly deemphasized solos.
That is not what he is saying though. The issue is being overly technical when the song does not call for it. It's not prog, it's hair metal.
@@SophiaAphrodite If I recall correctly he didn't like Dream Theater precisely because it was too technical.
@@SophiaAphrodite
It wasn't called 'hair metal' in the 80's.
@@headlibrarian1996 They didn't really like GOAT by Polyphia because it was too technical also.
@@SophiaAphrodite I never understand why people use that term unless you hate the genre. That term was invented by critics when Grunge got big to insult the glam bands. So bizzare that people who claim to be fans use that term.
Goerge lynch is one of the most tasteful guitar playes in the world. If the solo is wild its because the song needed it. Dokken is always glammy on the vocals which make it seem glammy, but george lynch hsa always killed it equally hard. Two dudes that hated each other btw, they have a huge beef. Two bands in one bands. Don dokken is what makes it has its pop appeal
You guys need to react to Tesla Modern day Cowboy, Great White is another great band very underrated House of Broken love has a bluesy undertones and amazing vocals.
For Tesla I think they would LOVE Hang Tough.
And Edison's medicine. Or hang tough. 🤘
Been a Dokken fan since forever and a day. I'd say Back For The Attack is my favorite album of their entire catalog
Absolutely agree
Same, every song is great
Great band don dokken has one of the best vocals in the 80's
My first concert, Judas Priest, with Dokken opening, Turbo tour. Lots of good looking girls were there for Dokken!
Georgie Lynch, Michael Schenker of Michael Schenker Group (MSG) and Criss Oliva of SAVATAGE have this ability to do what I call Lead Riffing.
Where every riff feels like a micro solo that keeps changing and evolving with complexity as the songs progress.
Gungriffen Well put! Totally agree 🤘
SAVATAGE is easily one of the greatest bands of all time and CRISS OLIVA is one of the greatest GUITARISTS of all time. Him and his brother Jon writing songs together is like a metal version of Lennon and McCartney writing songs together. Horrifically underrated band!!
Dave Mustaine and Chuck Schuldiner had that too but in a different sense. Riffs that could've been solos for other bands
A lot of metal fans like vocals like the one you just heard.
Have you guys heard the Japanese metal band called "Loudness"? Their guitarist is totally underrated. #AkiraTakasaki
George Lynch loves him btw!
Met him at a laundry mat in the eighties. Tiny dude! He was washing his outfit (spandex) for that nights show. I think startled him when I yelled out "THAT'S AKIRA TAKASAKI! Of course no one else knew who he was hehe. Hell of a show!
Wow! Blast from the past. Yes! Totally this!
@@clevername1349 EZO is far better than Loudness. Especially live. Loudness SUCKED live.
agreed!
You boys need to check out the Hear n Aid song "Stars" the metal version of "We are the world". That has some of the best solos from the 80's.
The 80's was all about fretboard gymnastics. Satriani, Vai, Malmstien, Rhoads etc.
Lynch was definitely being Mr. Scary on that as well.
People who have problems with this solo, probably should stop listening and evaluating guitar-driven music. Like, RIGHT. NOW.
Wicked Sensation by Lynch Mob for more George Lynch with a blusier singer
LOL, I just heard that song tonight. It is a really great song, I forgot how spicy the lyrics are though 😲
The reason this band broke up was because George and Don both were saying "I'M the star of the show!" That and having to follow Metallica on the Monsters of Rock tour
I Like George's playing
there been stories of those two really not getting along well and would often fight physically. Sadly, Don has a bigger ego.
It's ironic that the band is named after Don Dokken (or is it the other way around?) but its all about Lynch's guitar playing
Imagine back in the late 70’s you had George Lynch, Eddie Van Halen & Randy Rhodes playing all of the local nightclubs. The story goes when the record company came to sign a band George Lynch thought his band at that time exciter was going to be signed but Van Halen got signed instead, exciter broke up and Dokken was formed.
One of my favorite guitar tones of all time on this album and song. It's just so raw and aggressive.
ALONE AGAIN..... Dokken opened for Aerosmith in early 80's. Never heard of them.... they played Alone Again and I was hooked. Don and George were phenomenal that night.
Bravo.... you didn't stop or talk through the Solo. It's like watching a Sunset. Shut tf up and take it in!!
Lucky man! I wish i could see Dokken live in the 80's.
Back for the Attack is one of the greatest albums of the 80's. Tooth and Nail, Under Lock and Key are classics. I even like Erase the Slate with Reb Beach on guitar.
❤Dokken has SO many great songs!! Alone Again is a great love ballad by them. Dream Worriors was the song on Nightmare on Elm Street 3. It's Not Love, In My Dreams, Into The Fire and so many more!!! A great rabbit hole to get into!!!!❤ I totally agree about some guitarist just trying to play fast as possible or being technical and loosing keeping up with the melody of the song. But because the guitar solo is only in a small part of the song, I can set it aside IF the rest of the song is amazing. ❤😉
Love that you chose Dokken! Thank you!
Lynch is a beast! However, if you're looking for a phenomenal vocalist and some killer guitar play...
David Coverdale and Whitesnake - Still of the Night
Extreme (Nuno Bettencourt and Gary Cherone on guitar and vocals respectively) - Get the Funk Out (Play with Me would be a close 2nd)
Mr Big (with Paul Gilbert and Billy Sheehan (bass)) - Daddy, Brother, Lover, Little Boy / Alive and Kicking
The riffs and transitions in Still of the Night are awesome
@@stevekozlowski5963 yeah, I reckon they're going to dig all the transitions since they love them so much. 😊
Whitesnake’s Still Of The Night is one of my fav songs and videos of all times!! The video is 🔥🔥🔥!! John Sykes was a great guitarist !!
Your metal license has been revoked
@@chellj8175 was quite disappointed that they actually didn't end up liking the song, like WTF?! 🤣
The way Ryan feels about feels about solos is how I feel about some fast rappers
One of the few hair bands that I really liked. Also Tesla and Great White!
Dokken Rocks 🔥🔥🔥🔥!! The 80’s were so awesome!! Great time to be in your 20’s!!
Ryan, you are killing me with your guitar solo impersonation. Laughed my ass off.
I’m gonna say that Don Dokken’s voice represents a good contrast. Sometimes you can have chocolate with peanut butter. A gritty singer on this song would not fit the style and tone. Haunting romance is not about dirt, which is why Metallica can’t do songs like this. Most people who like Dokken understand and appreciate the contrast which allows them to handle different subjects than Metallica would. It’s good to have both.
Shredding was a part of the formula back in the day.
Just a fast rocking killer tune -- The musicianship is really good, everyone knows George Lynch (The guys a guitar genius and MONSTER player) but the whole band just ripped on this CD, Mick Browns drumming is really underrated and holds it together, the whole band was tight.... Great sounding album for them. Tooth And Nail, has some great songs, too. Great live band back then. And yeah, going off was normal and expected for Dokken. Lynch was a beast. He has his own style and sound. Monster's Of Rock, with Kingdom Come, Metallica, Scorpions, Van Halen, great show. $25
Rice Stadium Houston 1988.
Kingdom Come showed up at the bar we went to after the show and played another set.
Good point Ryan. But, back in the day, these bands were structured to play solos like this. Guitarists were always trying to "one-up" each other with each new album. That is what made this era so much fun. You never really knew what was coming next, and surprised when you heard it for the first time!
Thanks for sharing this video finally! You guys just mentioned this in the recent Megadeth video and it got me curious about this song reaction
Would love to see them react to some of George’s more simplistic solos. “It’s not love” would be a great one. Groove is filthy too
What about In My Dreams? That's one of his best solos imo and less shreddy than the one here
Thank you guys for listening to Dokken and especially this song !! George Lynch is in my top 5 favorite guitarist. Please check out Savatage “Hall of the Mountain King”
I believe Dokken took the best of both, guitar solos and 80s hair metal screaming and perfected the sound to where it was enjoyable and it was great in an arena or rocking in your car smoking a fat one that's what we did in the 80s
Hey man the lead is what makes this song.Really listen to the leads and the rhythm combined together it is damn amazing.
Hey you want to clown GEORGE pick up your guitar and do what he is doing.
George Lynch is the most underrated guitarist of all time.
Oliva go brrrrrrrrrrrr!
Just because you like them does not make them underrated FFS. Lynch is one of the most regarded metal guitarist. Get over yourself.
No he’s not. He’s considered a metal guitar legend.
YOOOOO I clicked so fast. I was literally listening to this song earlier. Dokken absolutely rocks, Lynch's solos are so good. People sleep on them
Stoked to seen Dokken on here. My favorite of the era. They also did the soundtrack for Nightmare on Elm St. 3 “Dream Warriors”
He actually is the star of that show. The rest of the band members are studs too but Lynch was a guitar god of the 80s and 90s. He was a big reason for their success.
I'm still requesting Muse - Knights of Cydonia, not for this marathon, but the next!
They did muse recently and I saw ur recent comments and I seen you saw the vid lol
Oddly enough....that style of bass drum playing is known as "galloping bass"
Also, this is a opening song. Imagine seeing them live and this opens the show. Live this will get you out of your seat.
I saw them live many times during the 80's , once opening for Priest, Can't remember which tour it was though , Rob came up from below the stage , and i think they had some kind of spaceship or rocket? Much of that decade is a blur , too much partying and went by to fast....
Drum is not galloping, the guitar and bass are.
Oh no no no Ryan! Back in the day, we lived for the solo! lol The Lynch solo fits this song entirely. It is one of those solos that you need to listen to multiple times to get it. He's in the pocket and it's not always easy to connect the notes, but you will once it settles in. It never gets old.
I almost jumped through the screen when you said Dooken!! HAHA, Well Played Fellas
I wouldn't call Don Dokken's vocals "operatic" but just typical Hair Metal vocals, which then went on to be the vocal style of most Power Metal bands into the modern age. They are of course "high pitched" and clean, as opposed to low, scratchy or growling Thrash Metal vocals.
Not all thrash bands are low or scratchy with vocals, Toxik is a good example, so is Agent Steel.
Don was more melodic than most 80s metal singers. He’s closer to Klaus Meine than Dio or DT.
Melodic. That’s what I would call Don’s voice. His voice is damn good. Even today
@@SeanHiruki eh not really. His voice is totally shot now
I’ve never heard a thrash band with low growls. Most thrash bands are clean tbh, just raspy and shouting
Regarding Ryan’s solo comment.... at the time, guitarists were purposefully trying to out do one another... there were SO MANY that they were like Gunslingers.
You guys rock!! Thank you. Plus both of you are awesome. You luv music!!! Yeah
LMAO how George worked in the Bonanza sound track!!! 😂😂😂😂😂
The Lynch solo was completely in touch with the build up of the song. It's raw and full of emotion. This isn't another style of music that's all about keeping one rhythm. My .02
That shred fits perfect
omg you guys never get old to me, brilliant
If you watch closely you can visually witness Ryan be physically crushed by the amount of notes George Lynch is pouring onto him in the outro.
You guys probably weren't alive in the 80s but pretty much every lead guitar player in rock was a shredder back then. It was just what they did. It was like a competition to see who could out-shred the next guy. Just check out "We're Starz" by Hear 'n Aid and "Boys Are Gonna Rock" by Vinnie Vincent Invasion, and you'll see some examples of what I mean.
Prog Rock Marathon next, fellas? Rush, early-Genesis, Yes, stuff like that.
Chuck Howard That would be awesome! Needs to happen soon 👌
I've been wanting to see them do a reaction to Firth of Fifth by Genesis for soooo long. That guitar solo is so good. Probably one of the best in prog rock history.
"Tooth and Nail" & "When Heaven Comes Down" are two more you should check out. George gas such an evil tone when he plays, my favorite guitarist!
20+ years ago I got to play bass with George at a clinic in my home town. Nicest rock star you could imagine. Took a moment to chat before and after, remembered some of the things I played, and was one of the cleanest players I've ever heard live. Awesome dude and I don't listen to much Dokken as, imho, George's playing is the only thing that has really aged well so was glad to come across this. I probably listened to the live version of this on Beast From The East a bazillion times when I was a kid. Haven't heard the studio version since I was in like 5th grade.
Goeroge lynch wasn't one that overplayed. Listen to his solos again, they always are melodic and go with the songs.
I think Queensrÿche has the perfect guitarists, that keep the playing and solos within the song, and yet still sound amazing.
Their solos sound so mapped out & safe. I mean they fit the song but there's no spontaneity or fire to me.
Too tame for me. The guitarist is great but yeah like guy above said there's no surprise, no spontaneity. To me what keeps guitar interesting is unique scales, unique phrasing, surprise bursts when you least expect, etc
@@Walamonga1313 I agree with you, but Queensrÿche guitarists are tailor made for the bald guy here. I’m personally a big fan of shredding creative guitarists, and I love George Lynch guitar solos in Dokken. He’s one of the best.
Telling George not to shred is like telling him not to breathe.
This solo went with this song perfectly! And this is what 80’s hard rock bands did on all of there songs!
Joe Satriani - Summer Song
Steve Vai - For the Love of God
La crème de la crème...
Or Flying in a Blue Dream by Satch!
Dokken - Into The Fire
You may have heard Dokken once before if you watched the movie "Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors". Dokken performed the song "Dream Warriors" on that soundtrack.
Top 5 of my favorite bands! Great song too!
The discussion about the guitar technicality makes perfect sense, and overplaying is definitely common. But sometimes it sounds like over playing because it can sound alien to a listener who just doesn't get what's going on.
Exactly. It sometimes sounds downright confusing or even nonsense to the virgin ear. For example Megadeth's Loved To Deth sounded like a mess to me first time I heard it. It was so chaotic and fast I couldn't make anything of it. But the more I listened and understood what was happening, I loved it. And even more so if you play guitar. Same thing happens with guitar solos. Lynch's solo here is absolutely amazing to me because of his phrasing and note choices, but I can see how it may sound too weird to new listeners
If you like the music and not exactly the singing, try Mr Scary from the same album. Instrumental.
Oh! You got into the good stuff!
I love ❤ this song. It always reminds me of one gal I used to run with she had the kiss of death. She put me in a spell. nostalgic love Don Dokkens voice ❤
