I love how the show portrays the contrast of the dynamic between young men and women with their parents. The show does a realistic job on how different young men and women were treated. The young women practically have no say in what happens to them while the men can go about their business and do as they please. Larry has always been respectful to Betha until this point. Gladys could never tell her mom "this is how it's going to be and you just have to deal with it".I'm really enjoying your reviews. I started watching the Gilded Age because I saw your documentary on some of the real life characters. Thanks for all of your work
I'm with you. I think that this show does a good job of showing just how different life was for young men vs young women. Adult women were treated like children. I'm so glad that you are watching the show now! Thank you for watching my content too.
I also love the relationship between Gladys and her Father. She gets that he really wants what is best for her, and she can count on him. Oscar ,Oscar, Oscar…Lol..Last season Mr Russel had concerns that he was interested in Gladys for her money, and Mrs Russel made it clear that Oscar wasn’t what she wanted for Gladys. Oscar proposal was dishonest and manipulative. As for Mr Russels “GENTLE” let down. Lol…I think he knew that Oscar was marrying for money and he wasn’t happy about his manipulating Gladys into marrying him. The part where she told her Dad that Oscar said, she could get away from her mother probably didn’t sit well with him at all. I think he just wanted him to get the picture and get out and true to form Mr Russel didn’t mince words. Maybe to him it was gentle because he could of really said what he thought of him. Lol…Now for Larry situation. I hate, hate, hate this woman. She is the big trouble. I agree with you. She ditched her poor deceased husband A-LOT! That certainly doesn’t speak well of her character and she seems to have a stalker way about her and she is loose. Not great qualities Larry. FYI. His mother was absolutely correct on this one. Let’s talk Turner. She is now above Gladys. She is in and probably accepted with the old money and has a box at the academy. Ms Turner was very spiteful last season and is now in a position to really cause problems. I wouldn’t be surprised if Ms Turner hits on George again. Her husband is old and she still might be in love with him.
I LOVE your comment! You're right. "Gentle" for Mr. Russell is not necessarily going to be "gentle" for us. LOL! I'm glad that he put Oscar in his place. His intentions were horrible.
Hi linlee! Thank you for your well wishes. I'm trying to get well so that I can review last night's episode. It was so good! I'm so glad that you like my commentary. Thank you for giving my channel a try and subscribing.
I hope you feel better soon! Thanks for the recaps ! I love George, he don’t be playing when it comes to hud family especially Gladys and Bertha. I love how he talked to Gladys as an adult, and encouraged her to married for love not status! I do think he knows Oscar is gay, and his real intentions for wanting to marry her!
Hi April! Thank you. I'm working on getting well. You're welcome for the recaps. Thank YOU for watching. I love George too and I love how he handled Oscar.
I think George is the type of man that will try to be at least two steps ahead of people he is doing business with and people who are trying to be part of his family. I think he knows Oscar is gay. I wouldn't be surprised if he hired someone to keep an eye out on Oscar. Who knows.. that guy he met in the bar could have been hired by George. I think George knows Oscar is just trying to use Gladys for appearances.
Ooh! That is something I never thought about! George does have the means to hire someone to follow Oscar. I'm going to have to put your comment in an upcoming video.
Thank YOU for watching my videos! I'm so glad that you like my style. Thank you for that. Maybe it's because we're in the same state. I'm sending love right back to you from Tejas!
Last night, Turner really flew to close to the sun. She thinks she has the upper hand on Bertha with what happened with George. But the mistake she is making is underestimating the power of patriarchy. If George exposes her as a harlot/seductress AND a lady’s maid, society is going to met out harsher social consequences for HER, not the Russells. She better watch herself and just be happy that she moved up in life. She needs to let go of whatever resentment she has towards Bertha.
I love a good Icarus reference. You're right. Turner is going to get put back into her proper place. I think that George will figure out the way to handle her. Last night's episode was good. I'm trying to get well so that I can review it.
I agree with that you that Mrs. Blain seduced Larry too fast. I don't believe relationships like that, happened that fast, in those days. Larry meets Mrs. Blain, Day 1. Day 2, they sleep with each other. There was still propriety, and decorum!
That's not what I'm saying at all. That definitely could have happened in those days. Those people were just as scandalous back then as people are today. They just hid it better.
This week your voice sounds better. I hope you get much better soon🥰. Love this weeks episode and love the father daughter relationship it reminds me of the bond I had with my dad who passed away last year.
I'm going to have it out by Friday at the LATEST. I'm hoping to have it out tomorrow. I'm sick and having a hard time getting these out. My voice is done after 20 minutes.
@@TisHotMessHistory no rush. Just wondering if you were on a weekly schedule so I could make a mental note to keep an eye out. Thank you 🙏🏼 feel better soon
@_VICK_ ideally, I will be on a weekly schedule. My goal is to give you a few videos about each episode every week. I think that after this week I should be able to get on track. I got sick almost right after the first episode. Thank you for your well wishes! ❤️
That makes so much sense. Someone else commented that George would have put an investigator on his tail. I didn't even think about that until I read the comment.
6:45 - Not the ringlet of hair beind shaken out of place! 😂💀 I screamed lmao
I have to present the facts. LMAO!
Liked your recap. I can hardly wait for episode 3.
Thank you. Your wait is over! I hope that you're enjoying episode 3.
I laughed when Bertha was yelling at Larry to not yell at her and I'm like girl...projecting much?
Hahahaha! I'm so glad that somebody said this. Yes. Bertha was definitely projecting.
Girl, the way that woman hopped on Larry! I hope you noticed the shade she was giving Mariam…I was dead! 😵
She was OVER Marian! She's like "Oh, you again" Hahaha!

The “ringlet” being shook out of place took me out of 😆. Hope you feel better soon!
You know that you mean what you're saying when your hair shakes like that.
Thank you! I'm trying my best to get well.
I think George has a feeling Oscar is gay. I think you’re right! He definitely knows he doesn’t want his daughter for love.
You're right. He definitely knows that Oscar does not love her.
Thank you for your videos Ms.Ti I really enjoy your style. Love from Tejas.

Not Larry's ringlet of hair
😳 😅🤣
The angry ringlet!
He knows...
I would not be surprised.

Hello Ti and replay chat❤

George definitely would've at least hired a PI to sniff around
That makes so much sense. Someone else commented that George would have put an investigator on his tail. I didn't even think about that until I read the comment.
