The USB is great, even the usb slots. But I think the front power switch is a terrible idea. The Prusa mini is absolutely silent when fully cooled, so might as well leave it on.

Just finished installing all the upgrades! Amazing how much less of a footprint it takes on my desk now. Ended up with the exact same cut on my left hand!
This is amazing. I hope that this becomes an option to order with the mini in the future (perhaps another thing to add to your injection molding line like the faceplates).
Have a happy mini currently and am ready to buy another one if this base comes as a prebuilt option. If there were an option with pre-installed octo + wifi I'd easily pay $1500 for that setup. Prusa proved their reliability and i'm ready trust them with more premium purchase.
@@tigertalar I don't know about $1500, that seems a bit high for a mini. I have an MK3, Mini + and 3 ender 3's and I think that worked out to around $1500. But on the other hand, let me know if you want a pre built mini with legs and Octo print I have a deal for $1,499 ;-)
Love the design! Gives off strong Eiffel tower vibes, and seems incredibly functional at the same time. I especially like how the spool holder is beneath the printer, and can still rotate securely. Now if only I had a Mini...
It looks so nice and clean on the desk. Was sold by that filament holder design that I ordered myself a Prusa MINI+ along with all the necessary parts to making this!
@@benkec123 Been printing all the included gcode and yes - it’s the best I’ve seen! I just hope it’ll print other models (sliced by me) at the same quality. It’s crazy how consistent the prints are. The only thing I had issues with is silencing the extruder when retracting, but was finally able to make it silent by pushing the gears apart from each other while tightening the stepper motor and adding some thick grease (thick grease “sticks” and removes the clicking noise).
Love the Design aesthetically and functionality, GREAT job, it answers so many questions. I bet many people don't have a clue on how many revs this took. The redesign of the control board case is next.

Super dope mod team Prusa // ** Question ** In terms of harmonics (vibration) does this increase movement of the printer in the forward backward & size to side or XY dimensions ? Also does the filament spool spin on a bearing/ sleeve or other low friction mount into the spool ? Does increasing the length of the Bowden feed input tube cause any technical issues with jamming ?
I also really agree with the cool design and new compact design. I also have the same concerns with vibrations and transferring harmonics. It appears to be very stable. How are you supporting the filament and altering it to spin? I may have missed it in the video. Thank you and keep up the great work Prusa team "tattoo arms".
I am still waiting for my mini kit .......🐌 From March ........still loading......🐌 Till it gets in my hands will appear other machines and upgrades........ Still nice work done on that mini 👍 You could go with a mini enclosure for that role underneath the machine😉 it's getting heat from the bed also.
Nice design, the overall non-compactness of the mini on a desk was the reason I switched to i3MK3s. The only downside I see in this mod is that the underside spool holder will be specific only for some spool types and sizes, so I imagine that with a lot of spools you end up using the separate desk spool stand anyway.
@@TGWMS yes, but it still won't be very universal, which is what I usually desire, I usually have a variety of spools around. Also, extending your logic further, I can build myself a completely different printer if I don't like this one, but it should not be a universal argument to dismiss any reasonably constructive critique.
@@PetrHosek of cause. We are Prusa and we have Prusament. if someone use something different then remix it for other brands of filament. It is never possible in this design to make it completely universal. Some spools are wider some small. Others need only samples of a few grams, others have big ones 2-5 kg.
@@TGWMS Sure, I was just pointing it out as something to keep in mind when going into this mod. I guess that making a microwave-style rotating dish for the spool could be more universal, but would also come with its own limitations, mainly increased height requirements.
Love the mod, but it needs a Prusa Orange collar around the original power switch location... If for nothing else than to help cushion the wires (and add more 'pop')
The Mini is my 4th printer over the years. Also have an MK2.5s The Mini is giving my fits though calibrating first layer. Traced the problem to the hot end. Hope to have it resolved so I can print this super cool upgrade. Wish the hole for the USB looked a bit cleaner
I actually used a top mount spool holder and printed the drawer for underneath the base. Lots of storage and looks cool. Minis a great printer, but not a fan of the extruder. Put on a bondtech/BMG clone and that takes this printer to new heights.
Wow.. Amazing. The only problem for me it requires to disassemble several parts and I'm afraid something could be out of alignment after reassemble or something like that and the printer starts to have issues in the prints
I wish Prusa would use the Mini for for some of their own fabs. That would help them identify and fix some of the print consistency issues that owners have been experiencing with this model. It a good printer for sure, but it could be so much better.
I can not recommend the MINI+. By far too many problems on my side and support says do this and do that. After 60 hours of testing and changing stuff it’s just too much.
I’m considering doing this upgrade, but has anyone done it? If so, have you noticed any less sound? Personally, I think the printer can get a bit loud and I am considering making some modifications to quiet it down, but I would rather do this instead.
I Love that! Although I got a different power brick. Mine was one of the firsts mini+ shipped. I hope someone makes a version for older style power bricks as well!
Very ingenious! I have two questions. 1. Does the printer still fits under the Ikea Lack table with this combined new height? 2. Some filament reels are wider, in particular the 1Kg ones. Do they fit in this filament holder? Thank you and nice work

My only concern is if this will work with other filament company's spools, might need to keep the old filament holder around just in case.

I build my own printers, and i have a few of them, including one Voron 2.4, and 5 Prusa Bear clones, but this video made me buy a Prusa Mini.

No vibrations, spool rotate perfectly just on print.

I just made one, slight design flaw on the non screen side. If you press inward both legs collapse. Perhaps adding a sturdier top lip would help.

I moved the power switch on my Ender 3 V2 to the front, also. One of the best and cheapest mods.
