I love the ending with you and your husband sitting down to the meal, I feel like I'm right there with you! This past May I had the pleasure of eating Sunday roast with Yorkshire pudding, IN YORKSHIRE! I met my childhood penpal and her family and this was one of the lovely meals she served us🇺🇸🇬🇧🇨🇦
I so enjoy watching you cook. My husband's family comes from Newfound land. His cousins live in Canada. One of his cousin that lives in USA goes back to Newfound land every 2 years she orders food from there from people she knows. One is capelins'. Not sure of the spelling. It is a very smelling fish. I will be ordering your cook book.
Hi Faith: Thank you so much for your lovely message, I'm sorry that my reply is late but I don't get all the notices at once. Also thank you for letting me know about your family, i'm glad you do have some Newfoundland food. Caplin is very smelly and not everyone like it but its nice smoked and fried. I do have a video on here for Caplin Time ruclips.net/video/rNteLiiteZc/видео.html and Pan fried Caplin ruclips.net/video/wFRN9C8y37o/видео.html if you wish to check it out. Happy New Year Bonita & family!Your Christmas cake & date bars were such a hit with everyone.Thank you for your delicious recipes.I wish you & your family a wonderful healthy New Year.
Oh my goodness that looks great! I will think up a reason to fix a nice prime rib and Yorkshire pudding with vegetables! That gravy looked delicious and full of flavor! Thanks for sharing how to do all this. I've never made Yorkshire pudding but I'm going to try it.
Bonita you are adorable! I’m from Halifax but in Edmonton now and miss this type of cooking and accents, love it all! Prime rib is my favourite too Edit- I failed miserably on first and only Yorkshire pudding, haven’t tried again yet but I thought I did all the steps correctly
How nice to hear, I love your accent please tell me what it is. I cook so much like John Kirkwood have you seen his videos? I am sure you would love them x
Omgoodness! I'm so excited to make this dinner!! Looks absolutely wonderful! Have never had yorkshire pudding. My favorite veg is rutabaga and it's nice to see you use it in several meals. I've only made it at Thanksgiving or whenever I make a turkey dinner. Now I'll make it more often. I always mash it like potato and add butter, salt and pepper. Thank you so much for sharing! Hugs from Ohio ☺
Hi Cathy, You are very welcome and thank you for sharing where you are from, welcome. I'm so glad you enjoyed our video today and recipe. This is by far one of my favourite meals, the Yorkshire can be made and froze if you can't eat them in one sitting. Enjoy and have a lovely day. :) Bonita
haha that is so sweet and they are so easy to make and good to have with anything. I'm glad you enjoyed this video and have a Happy New Year as well. :) Bonita
Looks wonderful, I will be cooking a 7 lb. Prime Ribb on new years day. All the best to and your family, I starting watching your videos a few days ago they are great. I've told a lot of people about you! Happy New Year
Thank you so much for subscribing to our channel, I'm so glad you are enjoying our recipes and videos, and thank you for telling people about our channel. Enjoy and Happy New Year..Bonita
We love pot roast as well and I can remember it well, but its nice to create new traditions and enjoy them with your family. Happy New Year to you and your family...Bonita
Bonita. I grew up in UK but I have never been able to make Yorkshire pud. I'll follow your tips. I watched how you made boiled ham. Have you ever scored the fat and made cracklin instead of cutting the fat off before roasting?
If you parboil the potatoes and carrots, then coat them in oil (and whatever herbs you like), you can roast them with the beef, but you have to leave out the broth. I've never tried it, but, I think the turnip (rutabaga), or squash could be treated the same way. Roast the vegs for 60-75 minutes. If you want to make a roasting pan easy to clean, make gravy in it!
Hi Das: Thank you so much for message and for visiting my channel, I have a lovely recipe for flipper pie. But the seal is only available in the spring and thats when we usually take our vacation. I can share with you my recipe and maybe one day I will whip one up for you. :) Bonita
@@frsknsld ; This is the recipe and don't forget to subscribe to my channel and each time I post a new recipe you will get a notification. :) Enjoy Seal Flipper with Pastry: 1-2 Flippers 1/4 Cup Flour 1/2 Tsp sea Salt 1 Cup Chopped fat pork 1 Chopped onion Gravy: Pinch Gravy Browning or Worcestershire sauce 2 Cups water 1/4 Cup Flour 1/2 Tsp Black Pepper 1 Soak flippers in cold water and baking soda for 45 minutes, then trim all fat from flipper. 2 In a large bowl add sea salt and flour, then roll the flipper into that mixture. Then place into a large roaster with lid. 3 In a large frying pan on medium heat, add chopped fat pork and chopped onion, black pepper then fry until it starts to get a light brown. 4 Then add 1/4 cup flour mixture stir around, after a pinch of gravy browning or Worcestershire sause, then add 2 cups water keep mixing until it starts to thicken. 5 Pour all gravy over the flipper cover, place in a 350° oven for 3 1/2 hours. 6 After it have cooked for 3 hours remove from heat and put your pastry over the top, follow recipe below. 7 Place back into the oven uncovered for 30 minutes on a 400° oven until golden brown. Pastry: 2 cup white or wheat flour 1/2 cup Cold Butter 1/2 tsp salt 1/2 cup cold water 1 piece wax paper 1 Mix flour, butter ( chop in pieces) and salt together in bowl mix with your hand or food processor when mixed add water mix until it shapes into a ball then remove from bowl/mixer. 2 Put a piece of parchment paper on the counter and sprinkle with flour then cut the ball into two pieces then put your pastry ball on top of it then roll until all even. Double the recipe if you like to make more then one pie pastry and if you are using salted butter, don't add salt. Please note: Half way through cooking of your flipper check it to make sure there is still lots of gravy, if it's lower then what you started with add more water just to top it up. Then mix it around in the roaster to equally have liquid, then place back into the oven until the 3 hours is up. If you need more cooking time after that cover and place back for another half hour before you had the pastry. Enjoy from Bonita's Kitchen
Roast potatoes would be great with this, especially if you use goose fat. I also use goose fat in the Yorkshire pudding tins. If you roast your beef dry in a steel pan (no water), the juices will caramelise and darken and give a greater depth of flavour to the gravy.
That sounds lovely Eileen I haven't tried goose fat before in this meal but it do sound lovely. Having that oil flavour really adds to the taste for sure. Thank you for stopping by and have a lovely day. :) Bonita
