  • Raynham Hall is one of the oldest in Norfolk, built more than 100 years before the foundations of Holkham Hall were laid.
It was the first in England to be heavily influenced by European architecture, built in an entirely new style following the Italian form with a more contemporary red brick design.
This magnificent 17th Century hall near Fakenham, has been home to the Townshend family for more than 300 years.

Ive worked on the estate multiple times and its always been an absolute pleasure, the trees are spectacular across the grounds and in the outlying villages and side roads, really worth a look in on the way up to Walsingham Abbey.

It was wonderful meeting Lord Townsend when he was in Palm Beach Florida several years ago!

Glorious treat. Thank you, Lord and Lady T for your modesty and welcome to a house not enough known about. And for putting a positive Kent virus! He got everywhere!

Nice house and Estate. There are many public roads across the Estate, most are minor roads with wide verges. Sadly the Estate owners mow the whole of the verge, 3 or 4 times during spring, summer and autumn, destroying wildlife habitat in a very intensely farmed area.

Not a jott on the ghost that Resides there¿? I do think that the ghost added so fame to this beautiful building. Never mind champagne Charlie, Where's Dorathy?
I'd love to hear from Charles & Alice's experiences, I'm sure they'd have at least one story 👍

I came to this video because of the resident 'Brown Lady'. that haunts the place.

A fake old photograph is irrelevant amidst all this beauty.

Does the music have to be so darn loud? It’s annoying having to turn the volume up and down constantly.

Hi Kimberly - thanks for taking the time to add a comment - and I will look at the volumes in future edited episodes. It is a shame for any viewer if the sound is distracting from the story of the stately home.

@ 3:46 That lady in the brown dress looks out of place. Is she a time period actress?

Gorgeous and opulent homes, built on the blood, sweat and tears of slaves and peasants.
