Wow, it's amazing to see how much they have changed! Switching from "Bad Boys" to "Good Boys" is a great move. I'm proud of the gang leaders for speaking up about the issues in Cape Town and showing that they are not just troublemakers but community builders. It's cool to see them making a positive difference. Keep it up, guys!
Great podcast. I serve in a rehab here in CPT where most of the guys are gang or ex-gang members. Some are former hitmen in that life as well. Once these guys open up and share you can really see the toll the life has taken on them. Especially once the drugs wear off and they have to face the emotions. Sadly fatherlessness is truly the common issue between them, I say respectfully. I have such a respect uncle Andy for his work and such a great role model. We need more father figures like him in the community.
Thank you for serving in the rehab and no doubt being a father figure there to many - well done you. What a brilliant way to give back. Again, thank you 🙏
Okes freestyle was on point yo, better than i thought it would be. Many peeps go "im a rapper"..then they rap kak. This oke actually got bars! Hopefully gets discovered for his music
Love what you are doing with this Podcast Josh. Showing real stories of real people. It's very easy for me to sit here and curse at how ruthless they are, but for some people, this is the only life they know. This is how they were groomed from age 13! It's interesting to listen to this stories. I pray they see a different way of life
Thanks for letting me know! One of my goals since I started this podcast was that the main focus would be real stories from real people and I’ll keep on doing that!
This is the second episode I've watched on this podcast and decided to subscribe after this. Great work Josh. Uncle Andy is doing some amazing work. The guy who is light skinned is very smart and I'm sure he is definitely going to turn his life around. He has a strong sense of why, which is his son.
Guys amazing show again. Thank you uncle Andy for reaching out to my people, sometimes we just need a nudge in the right direction. I wish you guys well, and my brother can rap ne, he's got a story to tell, all the best rappers have a story to tell. Good luck guys
I've met andie still in my school years when i was in grade 11 what a brilliant human being he is such a wonderful human he changed my life for taking the gospel and seeking god and now i am a better person to respect and love all around me thank you Andie
Vernon my friend - you literally have me in tears. Such wonderful memories of our times together - and of the incredible young man you were (and are!) I would so love to see you again soon. Thank you for your overly kind words
I’m a music producer in the UK, from Cape Town originally. Put the guy in the green shirt in touch if he’s interested in putting his vocals down over some beats.
your podcast is an inspiration, im also an addict in Cape Town, role models are rare, hard to find in our society. Cape Town is a strange place full of hope and strength
Please call this guys again next year for a follow up. We want to see the progress. Please also ask them to be prepared to share their progress so that they can work from that immediately. This guys they can make a huge change in their community.
I am so inspired by you guys and I am praying for you guys for a better lifestyle and I hope and pray that you all achieve your dreams. All the best, God is in control.
Thank you for doing what you do. I can't imagine that this is easy...I even feared for your life at some point. Thank you for giving voices to the hidden gems of our country. Please remember to be safe though...we need more of these moments and the community can only benefit from your contributions
Three Grown Men, that can think for themselves. Raised by strong Women, and blame the absence of fatherhood. I can point out one issue here, Choice and false perception is the root to where they are right now. I am praying for these Guys, so God can be their true Father.
I Really Enjoyed this Episode. Very interesting & informative💚 Respect to those 3 Young Men. I can see you 3 doing a lot of Good in your communities. Walk in faith. Brother in the Green, I especially see Great things happening for you. Your rap skills are DOPE 🤯BTW. I wish you all the Best Guys✊ MUCH RESPECT. CAPE TOWN IS A GREAT TOWN💪😎👍
This is deep man shuuuu, when he said if there's fathers involved in they lives they would have been different without feeling void of not being fatherless :( We need a planet of present Fathers and Mothers this is crucial.
All of them have fathers who are currently in their lives, I know them all the one in the middle said "fuck God" when he saw people coming from church. The one in green is soft and totally relies on ice and Dylan and how do there dockets get lost is because Dylan's mother is a police bed And as for peace whenever the community rises up against them they run. Our kids go to school everyday they respect meand that's why I can say this we already had a talk
You know I was kinda vibing when the man started rapping, then started tearing up, he has so much talent, potential and you can tell how much he is passionate by it. The system really is such a failure to it's citizens
I believe that if the interview had been conducted in Afrikaans, their native language, it would have allowed them to respond to questions properly and in more detail, and it would have allowed them to express themselves in their mother tongue. But it was interesting to watch. Good work
Broer you are brave to take this chance to interview this gents I was so scared the whole entire video hoping none of them get triggered or offended by any question!
Brilliant podcast. These guys are not bad people they just need opportunity. Josh you very concerned about the mic. Don't worry we can hear loud and clear 😂
Entire comment section praising Josh. My condolences to the family's that's lost loved ones because these guys felt like it. I Pray that the young girls and women they have violated and traumatized can find a way to heal in this country that glorifies Criminals.
When the guy in the Green T-shirt responded to the 'world's nicest prison' question, and said he had seen something like that on a show called 'World's toughest Prisons', you interrupted him and said no it's not that...He was actually referring to an episode on World's Toughest Prisons where they went to a Scandinavian prison where it looks like a hotel. So next time hear people out first, and don't just assume and jump to correct them, because it comes across as patronizing.
I have a friend who went down a very similiar path in his life. One day I asked him why did you make these choices? He responded that he never had a father or male figure to tell him that he was disappointed in him for making such poor choices. So here I am telling all three of you , Riaan included that I am very disappointed with you guys. I love you guys .I care about you and I care about your eternity. Make better choices. You can still get out. I know many people who got out (Riaan also knows them) and there life is much better now and they are actually a good example to the young people in the communities where they live. All three of you are talented and intelligent, don't throw your life away on nonsense. You know where this ends up. Graveyard, hospital or jail. The peace on the Cape Flats never lasts, we all know that.
Uncle Andy is what religious leaders should be! No judgement, all LOVE and action. This was a joy to watch, thanks Josh!
2:44 'do you guys think you woud be doing this forever' , 'No, we would not be sitting here today' >> Powerful...
