Anticipation, follow through, and recovery. Nameless King may have more keys to his attack animations then most the Elden cast. Before anyone tries to force an opinion on me, Nameless was THE spectacle fight in DS3 and final challenge. He received more polish. That is not a statement on the objective or subjective nature of either game.
Man that fight with Radahn was insane!!! I for sure thought he was gonna end it before second phase with how many times he was staggered!!! That was a close one, I didn’t expect any bosses from Dark Souls to do that well!
to be fair the ds3 system has way higher poise, get rid of his ability to just tank through every attack without getting staggered like his opponents were and he'd be dinner for half the bosses. It was pretty skewed in his favor until the end game where they just pure stat checked him even through being posture broken every other hit lol
I was so sure when the godskin apostle re-summoned the noble that the king was gonna lose, but to see him dodge and swiftly dispatch them both was awesome. Also that dash right at the start of malikeths second phase was dope as hell and gideon getting absolutely bullied were my other highlights
The thing with the nameless king is that lore-wise, he probably stands a pretty good chance, but in gameplay, while he most often has the damage needed, he lacks the speed of elden ring bosses. All his attacks have windups that take forever.

@@Unwritten_MemoryTo be fair him fighting them at all has the unfair advantage where nameless kings stagger was way harder to do than elden ring since it wasn't designed around that. If both had similar staggers then nameless king would be getting folded, he just super armored everything
Seeing the nameless king walk right through the tree sentinel felt sooo good. Also the fight between him and Radahn was legendary in both their right but when Radahn came back as a meteor I was like I don’t think the king knows…Even still.. They went to the end like him and Melania.
That was one of the only complaints I had against ER. The damage in the late game is way beyond anything in the rest of the FromSoft games. Kind of felt like an artificial difficulty, I'd rather them just be faster or have longer combos or more mix ups. It's fine if it's like one boss who hits particularly hard for lore reasons or something, but it was even certain mobs in the late game that just hit like a semi truck.
3:01 - that moment where he walks towards her, their silhouettes against the moon in the background, was awesome. If he had struck her down with that one attack, it would have been even more epic. 4:20 - the kill was so brutal, they had to censor it with bushes and shrubs. LOL. 5:17 - Guess even the Nameless King can't withstand a falling star. 7:38 - Fire Giant: Instead of running away, you're coming right to me? Nameless King: I can't beat the sh*t out of you without getting closer. 13:57 - Destined Death claims all. 18:25 - Okay, that was just plain cool. 20:12 - Hey batter batter swing... and a miss. 25:44 - No snappy comment. This fight ends exactly how we all know it does.
Let's be honest here, the fact that the Nameless King did so well in spite of Dark Souls' much lower damage numbers is a testament to how strong a boss he is. Lest we all forget how little health you needed to get through Dark Souls 3 vs Elden Ring, and how much lower the damage numbers in that game as a whole are.
That's why ER's boss design failed against DS: if you want the boss fights to be more focused on the skill and less about equipment or player's preparation, reduce the maximum damage output of everything, maintaining the minimum. In this way there couldn't be any OP or oneshot build for everything and you encourage the player to understand properly the fights.
@@matteopizzi9073 eldenring is a much longer/larger game. If they kept the hp values similar to previous titles then they couldn't let you leveling up nearly as much. Inflated hp is a design choice to compensate for more levels and stagger mechanic. It balances out as about the the same in the end. Enemy stats and player stats are balanced at the same time in game development and the ability to pick your battles is why a boss seems oppressive to one player and easy to someone else. The openworld is the real issue here.
Yes if you scaled him with his moveset according to elden ring he wouldnt have lasted as long at all. Dudes poise and stagger was faaar higher than any elden ring boss. If you removed that retarded stagger he would die by almost all the bosses, even if yoy gave him more hp.
If the King of Storms pre-phase of Nameless King was included, a lot of the close ones wouldnt have had a shot. Mightve even made a major difference in others too
The king of Storms phase is quite lackluster in boss Vs boss encounters to my knowledge. I don't even think Storm King works properly outside of his own arena, not even is Dark Souls 3, much less another game. If someone did manage to make him work, though, that would prolong the fights drastically and probably give Nameless and edge when he gets down, because while the dragon has low health and is easy to stagger, it can also enable the drive-by lightning and drop-in attacks, and the drop-in at least deals decent damage.

@@zarucarshaDark Souls 3 in general felt alot more Delicately crafted in it's Details to Animations and World-Building lore. But that's to be expected cause ER is open world, so they obviously can't put that same detail to a much MUCH bigger game.
It’s something I immediately noticed when trying out ds3 after elden ring. Sound design and animations in ds3 feel so much more powerful.
This aged like fine wine
I love how lore accurate the Placidusax battle was, His weapon and lighting was specifically designed to absolutely destroy dragons.
@@ragegaze3482 To be fair if he had as much health and damage output as them they would dinner against him so that argument goes both ways.
I wish fights that were so close would be done again. I feel like NK would win the second time around.
I was so sure when the godskin apostle re-summoned the noble that the king was gonna lose, but to see him dodge and swiftly dispatch them both was awesome. Also that dash right at the start of malikeths second phase was dope as hell and gideon getting absolutely bullied were my other highlights
It's because the biggest issue with those bosses is their knockback.
8:26 love that slow walk to the flame
The thing with the nameless king is that lore-wise, he probably stands a pretty good chance, but in gameplay, while he most often has the damage needed, he lacks the speed of elden ring bosses. All his attacks have windups that take forever.
Lore wise he probably cleans house lol. Especially with his king of storms phase. He's the god of war. Master strategist etc.
@@tacticalmattress but aren’t Radagon, Elden Beast and Malenia under the influence of the power of external extra terrestrial forces? Whereas NK is simply a strong warrior like Godfrey.
Not to mention, maliketh literally is the grim reaper lol
@@HeevaEgo and you as the Tarnished are powerful enough to extinguish those forces? Cant be too god-like in power now can they if a lowly tarnished can defeat them by simply powering up over time. Strategy also often beats overwhelming power. As stated, god of war, master tactician/strategist. To be named a god of war is usually synonymous with god-killing abilities.
@@HeevaEgo and in souls they are revered as gods. Some which literally are so powerful that they are able to alter the confines of reality/time/space, or create seemingly real illusions.
@@tacticalmattress And in Dark Souls you can beat him? Same logic.

Nameless king: This may be your boss arena but this is my homefield
At 7:38 that slow walk towards the giant into him dashing behind the giant and knocking him down in one hit is so cold
It would be insane if you managed to get the King of Storms in there too. Would help the Nameless King during battles with much larger, higher DPS enemies.
Yeah, kinda unfair not putting him in, cause the Nameless King is a two phase bossfight
@@Unwritten_Memory though second phase is the real deal
King of storms against the dragon bosses would be insane but I imagine he’d have to be buffed to match Elden rings dragons, especially placidusax and fortisax.
@@Unwritten_MemoryTo be fair him fighting them at all has the unfair advantage where nameless kings stagger was way harder to do than elden ring since it wasn't designed around that. If both had similar staggers then nameless king would be getting folded, he just super armored everything
@@ragegaze3482well yeah cos every other stat in er is like double that of dark souls
Seeing the nameless king walk right through the tree sentinel felt sooo good. Also the fight between him and Radahn was legendary in both their right but when Radahn came back as a meteor I was like I don’t think the king knows…Even still.. They went to the end like him and Melania.

That fight with the godskin duo was fantastic 😍

Damn, that fight between him and godskin duo was incredibly epic. He staggered them at all the right moments.
He killed them by himself. My respect for him has never been so high.
The God Skin Duo: Give us your skin!
the nameless king: If they want it, then they will have to come and take it, but I guess they already knew that
Definitely feels like a major damage difference once he got to the later bosses.
Yeah people says elden ring easier because they fight only beginner bosses with farmed accounts but use mimic at end bosses.
Bro was just warning us about the future inbound 💀

Fire Giant: This is what you call a shockwave? Watch this!
"get staggered lol"
i saw it as a little sign of respect before a bloodbath ahaha. like a fistbump before a boxing match
The shot of him walking towards Renala with the moon in the background is downright cinematic.
Bro had a vision
Jeez, even without life steal, Malenia beat him before reaching phase 2. That boss is really crazy
Yeah her first waterfowl dance obliterated like a third of his health
To be fair he has 60% less health than Malenia in just her first phase alone.
Yeah, Namelss King has 7,100hp Vs bosses well over 20k and Malenia having 33k hp
NK is a stagger machine in Elden Ring
Nameless King heard the call and went official
@@bluethunderbolt9631 No to mention his thrust attack off its back, and God forbid the King of the Storm land his fire breath attack while airborne.
Reminder that the Nameless King is hollow, not even close to his prime 💀
He was the god of war for a reason
Now go faram, make us proud
Basically every Dark Souls boss is in it's lowest point ever. So yeah...
He's consumed by the ages, not hollow, and this led him to lose much of his power. But he's fully aware.
