    Bilateral swimming has made my strokes more symmetrical, more efficient and I don’t have an aching neck anymore. I’m able to focus better and it has improved my balance.

    Bilateral breathing is a skill that should be learned so that way you can be able to swim even if you just have one side that is stronger than the other.

    Hi Mandy, I breathe to my right side fine, but often when I breathe to the left everything falls apart… I can’t figure out why there is this difference! I wonder if you’ve discovered what the main reasons are for people who find this big discrepancy? Great channel & inspirational technique BTW!

    My left side is not as intuitive as my right side. I have been practicing every 3rd and every 4th (taking turns on both sides) since July (6 or 7 days a week). It was frustrating because I couldn’t duplicate the rhythm and feeling on my left side. Breathing was hard and labored; stark contrast to my right side breathing. But I knew I had to practice to get it right. This week I finally was able to breathe and swim better on my left side with some consistency. My time and effort is seeing payoff.

    Do we hold the breath or blow bubbles during the stroke ?

    • @SWIMVICE
      @SWIMVICE  2 года назад +2

      It is a combination of both. The bulk of the exhalation happens on the roll right before breathing in ✅. I have this outlined in my breathing series program launching August 5th. However, I do have another YT video explaining the sequence for every two strokes here: ruclips.net/video/f_gy0Yjw_Es/видео.html

    Do you think the advantages of bilateral breathing outweigh the time you spend not breathing?

    • @SWIMVICE
      @SWIMVICE  2 года назад +1

      Yes you are correct! Depending on how I feel in open water, I will breathe either every 3 or every 2-2-4. It is a preference but as you said, the goal is to be able to confidently breathe on both sides. Symmetry is 🔑🙌🏼✅.

      Stay tuned! It will be in a new video soon. There are many factors that cause this but for one, it has to do with rotating too far to breathe. Key is to not over rotate when breathing. 🙌🏼✅ -CM

    I have never been able to swim more than 100 yards while breathing on every 3rd arm stroke. I run out of air. This is far more common with men than women. One coach said that women metabolize oxygen and lactic acid differently than men. You should take a look and compare Katie Ledecky and Arierne Titmus and their breathing styles. For me, I breathe on one side on one length, and then on the other side on the next length.

    It is much a question of relaxation on the wrong side to avoid disrupting of the stroke and gasping. I say this having proved myself: at times no problem on the wrong side, at time much problem. 80% of swimming tech in my experience is relaxation:forget your head is sunk in an unfamiliar mean, forget you need take your mouth out every some stroke. Very similar to yoga concept to be relaxed and tense at the same time, selectively.

    On one side I can swim in open water for 2.5K (1.45-1.50/100) without too much fatigue. But when I try both sides at the first 300 meters I am out of breath and I think I am going to drawn. How can I fix this?

    • @SWIMVICE
      @SWIMVICE  2 года назад +3

      For distance, can you breath every 2 strokes on either side?
      The main objective is to be evenly comfortable breathing both sides. The reason why you feel out of breath and exhausted breathing every 3, is your rate of exhale is too excessive during the in between strokes before taking a breath so you are left with an empty tank. It’s a different rhythm of exhale versus every two strokes. There’s a way to achieve breath control for every three and it is in my community platform launching August 5th! 📲 www.swimvice.com/community
      Hope this helps clarify. Nothing wrong with breathing every two, just be sure to practice both sides. 🙌🏼✅ -Coach Mandy

      Yes sir, It’s definitely my right! Everyone has a favored breathing side to a certain extent, but it’s not to the point of dependency. However, I do prefer breathing every three when swimming distance and then switch to 2.2.4 throughout. Enjoy your practice Sam! ✅🙌🏼 -Coach Mandy
