I see lots of posts all over RUclips fitness videos from men min-60's and older. I will be 66 next month and all these exercises that you present here are core to my program. I do Spenga 3 days a week as well as walking for 20 min or more several times a day. I think old dudes like us realize the value of fitness and keeping a strong and functional body. In fact, I try to set the example in my Spenga classes for men and women 40 years younger than me. For me, it's about breaking old ideas about who we are and what our limitations are. As an old Marine Corps officer, I have been taught to lead by example and thats what fitness helps older men do - lead by example to a younger generation.
I've been doing this for 9 months now and got amazing results and i'm 37! Its never too late to get started, people want training to be rocket science, just keep in simple and consistent with the few big exercises. The difficult part is maintaining a good diet consistently.
@@jrich9674 I am trying to stick to a carnivor diet, its hard when its very bland. The biggest thing i think keeps people from getting in shape is way to long exercise programs. I spend around an hour on mine so its much easier to get over it.
This is what I call relative strength. There's no wonder why. The military special forces tests running, swimming, push ups and pulls ups. Its an important form of strength.
Love the simplicity of your workout. I'm 65 and just started something similar, and I can see results even at my age. Want to stay fit. Keep the videos coming
This is a great reminder brother J Rich of how important the basics are. We forget and think we all need these fancy machines and movements when these 5 exercises cover just about the whole body. Plus; it takes real strength to perform strict pull ups and dips for reps. Thanks for posting, Peace, Sal 💪🏻
Better than weights, you build real world strength and functional muscles. There is a reason why the Romans didn’t consider Jacked muscle athletes recruits as good soldier candidates that could March 50 miles, survive the toughest climates, no food for days with a hundred pounds of gear and jump into battle with little notice.
That’s a sweet setup you built there my bro. I’m currently working on my pull ups and dips. I’m at 7 pull ups on my first set of three, 9 chin-ups on my first set of three, and 11 dips on my first set of three. Slow grinding over here! Keep up the motivation!
Calisthenics is mandatory, discipline made "easy". Dont gotta drive to the gym, can be done at home or outdoors in peace, can take 10 minutes or an hour, up to you. Easy recovery and can be done (near)daily.
Your exercise regime is similar to mine except I generally separate my upper and leg workouts. I also perform those chest pulls, but I'll touch the handles to my chest. I find those to be as hard as a full pull-up. And I use boulders for the squats. To hell with gains…you keep doing this routine, you'll be a superman well into old age. Throw in some wind sprints and you have it covered. Good form J! Cheers!
Amazing land with pull up bars. I'm starting to do pullups 5x a week. Max I did was around 24 in a row. Now around 15 since haven't been doing them as much. I'm trying to escape to the country soon away from the mess of societies
Very good video. I have lifted most of my life, been in the Marine Corps, did many calisthenics. Had several accidents in the past, now I'm not sure that I can continue barbell squats and deadlifts. I will continue to lift, but I want want to shift, more geared towards calisthenic's. BTW liked and subscribed 💪👍.
Bar work is the real challenge it takes more mental focus and no matter how strong u are if u can't control it own body weight on a bar ur strength is limited to me I also love Calisthenics bcuz it allows u to get creative wit ur workouts grey video 💪🏽no disrespect to weight lifters
Hi, I think you can take this basically already as a (his?) whole routine. If you do a few rounds of pullups, dips, squats, rows + pushups you're well on your way I believe, just leave some reps in the tank on each exercise, take a breather or two if you need it and try to go at a slow but consistent pace for a few rounds (3?). I think your gains will be awesome! Just my 2c. Great Video btw. & greetings from Germany!
Nice video, sort of an introduction. I like your combo dip bar pull-up bar, haven't seen that done before. Can you or do you do horizontal pulls on that or was it just an easy way to get dip bars? Or as in video do you just use the swingset bar and rings? Concrete blocks like that come in a lot of different sizes, one hole, two hole and different lengths, weights, sizes so there is some opportunity to have a selection of weights. They do work for goblet squats quite well and weighted dips and chins and overhead press...They don't cost much per pound and they don't rust. Some exercises, some, can be done by adding rope handles... and yes...an old pipe can be slid through holes like a barbell... for some uses, some...but, people underestimate what bodyweight exercises can do for them to a large degree. I agree with that sentiment. Also, just because a persons kids have moved on don't get rid of your swingset! There is a lot of ring and TRX/suspension trainer type stuff you can do on them.
Fantastic mate !!... thats been my work out for the last 2 months seeing results to 🙏 my pull up bar is low though i have to cross my legs a so they dont touch the floor would you say thats ok? ...thanks for the content mate great channel ❤
@@Eneergy for the last 7 weeks I’ve been doing 40 pull-ups, 40, dips, 100 pushups and 100 squats each day, that’s 280 pullups a week which is more than enough for crazy strength.
