Thanks again for all the effort with the videos and this one yet again excellent. I was unaware how to "save" the bottom section of the scan which is picked up when selecting and deleting the bottom plane. One thing I learned just yesterday is that if using the black cloth bag, as supplied with the kit, under the object on the table it doesn't pick it up so no bottom layer to remove! I also used a lazy Susan, as it was a bigger area, and hand scanned with the same black cloth bag underneath and it produced excellent results, just by rotating the table slowly by hand. Have a good Xmas.

Haha yup I accidentally figured this out while filming about adding a black surface to the table as it won't detect and therefore nothing to really clean up before processing. I'll definitely have to do a quick tip video on this!

A+ on the content here, this helped answer some questions I was having on cleanup efforts prior to aligning or processing

As always you made an excellent tutorial, i really like them.
I have two suggestions, the first with the aligned, most of the time automatic alignment worked well for half the model, because of the reference scan. You could auto aligned all, manually aligned only one failed to the reference scan and then use it as a new reference to auto aligned only the failed scan, hiding the correct. In that way you will save time and effort.
The second refer to delating the ground. The selection plane always select some part of the model, instead of trying to follow the contours of the model, you could rotate the model horizontally, use the lazo selection, start select from the rightmost part and end to the left. The lazo will automatically join the two ends with an horizontal line.
hope i was helpful and clear to you and the community.

I use hand scanning with the turntable most of the time too, i've found slapping some black duct tape on the top makes it even better.

This is something I have discovered too while filming this video and I want to do a video as a quick tip about it. But basically the fact that it does not handle blacks well can be used to your advantage as you can put something black under the object which it won't detect meaning you don't have to bother with deleting unwanted table geometry.

Good video, I really hope the auto align improves, that would transform the scanning process and make it more usable.
