But there is a huge difference between non-contact and full-contact games. Soccer is where players pretend to get hurt when not touched, while rugby players pretend not to be hurt when having bones broken. Rugby is played by warriors while soccer is played by worriers. 😎

Different origins, different ball, different rules, different scoring, different goal posts. Even the term 'pitch' is more about English terminology. Here in Aus we use the term 'field' for rugby rather than pitch. But other than that, I guess they are almost identical...🤓

Just one of those once in a generation talents.

That's when I became a fan , when our university started a team when I was in college, we sucked, but finally got good. Whenever it's on TV, I'll watch, it's hard to find thought . Spots fans here love the flashy helmets and uniforms, but there is something about going out and tackling and having fun like we did as kids . I played High school football rill my sophomore year, but the guys would get together and play without pads, which was more like rugby. What a great sport. The NFL doesn't want that competition.

One of the reasons in my opinion why rugby never became more popular in the US (through no fault of the Americans) was because the "governing rugby union'' never allowed rugby to become professional. It took until the early 90s before it did. I've always thought it was a shame America was never part of the top end of international rugby and wondered what it would be like if it was so. America in the rugby world is regarded as the sleeping giant. I have no doubts the US will eventually get there. But they won't be from the NFL pool (respectfully) it will be from a generation of American kids or players raised on rugby (who are actually there now) it's like I know rugby players will never never dominate or even be on par with top football players. The hats (properly called a 'scrum cap") that some choose to wear are only there to stop ears getting torn off during the 'scrum'. They don't really do much else. They might save you a bruise or two but if you're getting your head taken off they're pretty useless.
The referees are usually a good reference point, but what gets lost in these videos is just how big these guys are in real life compared to "normal" people. These are 6"3 to to 6"9 professional ATHLETES getting tossed about like ragdolls by these people. You and I wouldn't stand a chance.

Lots of grey area so you have to read the referee. South Africa tend to use a technique that starts low and drives up, which they seem to get away with, but is inherently dangerous.
The thing that you are not aware of, is they are running and playing for 80 minutes. And the only thing that you can say is, that "he" could make so much money in the NFL. These are men and they want to play rugby.

All the breaks, timeouts, commercial breaks. A guy ran for 57 yards, then took himself out for a play bc he was tired. I just shook my head, that happens all the time. It's the forward passing , helmet (which are cool btw) that gives a Mystique. But as far as play goes, it's getting pretty boring

sorry buddy but you missed the Great Rugby ERA. The sport changed after Samoans, Tongans, Fijians, and Maori took over. Its now a sport of Hot potatoe passing...and in the case of Argentina and Wales... its about hiding cycling or biking steroid use.
