Thanks for this video, you seem to be the only person on the net that knows how to manually drain this model of dishwasher

I was about to buy a pump and then this video said "lets just pull this ... um ..float" and it activates the drain pump. Eureka. AWESOME. Thank you very very much.

Same here! What a help! I removed and cleaned out the filter and still had sitting water. I was fully prepared to remove parts and look for a clog. Thanks to this video that wasn't necessary!

Many thanks. Your helpful tip allowed us to quickly determine that the pump worked, how fast the flow should be and it also helped in finding which section of the drain path was clogged without disassembly of the dishwasher. In our case it the clog was further down stream.

Wish I saw your video before I replaced the pump. And I still have standing water. Pulling the float activated the pump but it just spun the water around. Back to the drawing board. Thanks for the tip!

Maybe a clogged drain line, then?

Thank you so much for showing this. We have had so much trouble with this dishwasher. This first time I tried this the water would not drain, so I ran a brush a few times down the pump inlet and tried it again. This time it worked.

TLDR: That “floater” that you lifted up worked to help unclog a drain that was causing water leakage... I originally solved this on my own by accidentally lifting “the floater” up after cleaning the filter/traps/screens. When I lifted “the floater” the drain mechanism went on and the clogged/leaking problem finally fixed it’s self... Afterwards I was trying to figure out what I did and I found this nice video that explains it to me so now I can feel more confident that the leakage problem is properly fixed, so thank you very much for the video.
    Long Story version:
Hello fellow Bosch dishwasher owners. I have the Bosch SHE3ARF5UC/08 model and it was leaking water very badly through the upstairs kitchen floor and through the roof of a bedroom below it.
So I unscrewed the filter and completely cleaned out the fine-filter/object-trap/micro-screens that were very clogged with guck that was caked onto the screens. Afterwards I purchased a dishwasher cleanser and ran it (with an empty load) on the heaviest setting and it still leaked through the floor.
I then decided to run it one more time, but with a dish load, just to see if it would work better after cleaning the filter and using the dishwasher-cleanser and it leaked a bit less, but was still coming through the floor.
I then went back upstairs and unloaded the dishwasher and I started to look for leakage areas on the gaskets and elsewhere when I noticed “that floater thing” that is next to the screened-fine-filter/object-trap/micro-filter (which I had already thoroughly removed and cleaned) and I was wondering what it was and if I could also unscrew and remove that “floater” to clean it also.
So as I was trying to unscrew it (the floater) and pull it up and out... the “floater” started to make a noise and I wasn’t sure what it was doing... but it seemed to drain the last bit of water and I could hear it drain the clogged drain (similar to the sound a garbage disposal makes when the sink is full of water and it drains the tub)... so I ran another load of dishes to test if it had fixed the problem and IT FINALLY DIDN’T LEAK!
And so far I’ve washed about 5 more dish loads and not once has it leaked, so I think my problem was solved by cleaning out the filter/trap/screens and then lifting that floater to help drain whatever was caught in there.
It seems like this “floater” and the draining mechanism should have been in the manual in the Care and Maintenance section.
Anyway, nice video that I wish I had found earlier... I was lucky to find this on my own, and I was about to call a plumber who would have probably overcharged me.
I was still worried about further leakages until I found this video and now I think the combo of cleaning the screens, using the dishwasher cleanser, and lifting this floater up to unclog the rest of the drain is all I needed to do... so I am glad that I didn’t have to waste more money on a new dishwasher or a plumber... or go through the hassle of removing the dishwasher and replacing hoses and water inlet valves and other parts as most of the online help will suggests that you do when there is a water leak.

Ouf, thanks for the trick, I found my sink was clogged preventing the dishwasher from draining, stalling the mashine!

What a great fix, unfortunately, our Bosch doesn't have that, yet throws error e24, I think it was the pump going out, I keep checking for clogs and always clear.

I tried pulling up that float and it doesn't work. I can hear a noise that it's trying to do something with noises as if some small rocks or sand was being slightly crushed. Sometimes it stops and there's a more normal sound but water still doesn't drain...

Pulled the float up, pump activates shortly but does not force out water. What could that be?
