Great interview. I had an opportunity to meet
Erlin when visiting Merida. I stopped at the Starbucks and there was a man who started following and harassing me. Erlin protected me. He walked me to the cab and made sure that the guy didn’t harass me. The guy continued and tried to convince Erlin that he knew me and that we were together. I was very scared. I will be forever grateful for his kindness.

Not all Mexico is hot. Oaxaca, Queretaro, Mexico city, and many more other cities have a great climate that doesn't go higher than 80 during summer time. I live in Merida right niw, but I can not deal with the heat. It's way too much my heart can handle. But, I am not moving out of Mexico. I am moving out of Merida to Queretaro or Mexico city, where the climate is very nice all year. I believe Merida is on the top list about hot places in Mexico. If you and your husband really like Mexico, do your research. There are many other cities in Mexico with great climate all year. Before moving to Mexico, I visited 14 countries in Africa. I chose Mexico for many reasons. I still love Africa. I will still go visit and probably one day live there part time, but Mexico will be my home.

I'm a disabled 100% VA-rated military retired MSGT. With my retired pay ($1800), my SS ($875), and my 100% VA-rated pay ($5000) monthly, I don't need to worry about an income. With today's exchange rate that is close to 131920.28 Mexican Pesos. If things go bad in the Philippines because of China going after Taiwan, I'll run to Mexico! The only problem I expect is to sell my home and ship my cars and household goods. This brings up the question of the RAM I've seen you driving, did you pay any import tax to the Mexican customs or did you buy it in Mexico?

I could sell them at almost the same price I paid when they were new. I don't believe there are none of these in the Americas! A Toyota Fortuner SUV, 4-wheel drive, and a Hyundai Starex van.

I see the price of lots go up after this video, because he said, " they ONLY ask for 70k". This is lot of money for the Mexican market. Most Mexican here cannot afford that. This is why houses and lands keep going up in Merida, because of Expats making comments like this. Thry use the work cm" cheap" here. Right now, Merida has become one of the most expensive cities in Mexico

    • @JoseArteagaTravels
      @JoseArteagaTravels  Год назад +1

Again if you watch my videos you will see that most of the people buying and moving to Merida are other Mexicans. Also if you watch my videos and know the actual market you will quickly see there are still many homes and land priced below costs. There are many variables at play here and the reality is that if you are afraid of prices continuing to go up then just plan accordingly and you will be fine.

Going in a big ass circle..im on every housing waiting list since the pandemic ...I'm tired of getting hopeful 😢 only to loose or see no progression. Loosing my van has been bitter sweet ..as I have been watching your videos for the last 2 months ..When you said if I was in the states I'd be a bum sleeping in my car ...I giggled and relate ..and as a woman safety is a real concern ...as I been doing van life aka digital nomad
..Jose I have sOOO many questions and I'm so tempted to hop on a grayhound with just a little over 300 yet I don't even have my passport.can you help me leave California and get to paradise 😂 ...no but seriously. . I'm trying to be not so impulsive but what's a girl to do ..and going to skid row out in LA is an absolute No for me !
The " "help " out here is nothing more than an illusion. And as a independent woman who works for myself all I need is affordable living ...I am bilingual. Do no issues there. Got the gift of Gab ..I believe I'd do quiet well in Mexico ...love the food .love the culture ...I even flip my tortillas on the stove 😂😂😂 lol I have to get there ASAP! I'm praying that God will help me find my way to meet you and the Mrs ❤ im trying to stay optimistic watching your videos really help and I do want to buy a consultation with you but I'm trying to save for my ticket ..lol bruhhh lol . But on a serious note this whole interview is helping me ..today I'll visit the post office to ask about passport .

My advice to you since you are in Southern California and only have a few bucks to your name is to go to San Diego and get a job there and then find housing in Tijuana and basically travel back and fourth everyday. Many people do this and have been doing this for years/decades. You can even cross legally back and fourth with just some basic ID until you get your passport. That would be my advice to you after learning so much while living out here in Mexico. You can find affordable housing in Tijuana and Make US Dollars in San Diego and that should help you get back on your feet in no time. You can use the land bridge to walk back and fourth in case you do not have a vehicle. Don't lose hope. It's not going to be easy. It wasn't for me either, but you can do it and get yourself out of the hole you are in and once you have your passport and some money saved up you can go and explore other parts of Mexico. Hope this information helps. Good luck with everything! You can do it!

That's how life should be ..I know there are others who do what you do right here at the YT but no one makes feel like the possibilities are endless the whole knowing you can go to somewhere else and not just feel but be a millionaire in another country is always so inspiring ..after all what's a millionaire any way ... ?? Some one who basically can #1 afford a quality life ! With a little bit of gllitz and glam if they so chose ! Not every millionaire is all shiny and show offy but I had been around a few enough to know they ALL have one thing in common thier quality of life live in a safer area , access to medical , dentistry , schools and education, even better access to a potential good partnerc and over all good mental spiritual and physical well being..... Lord knows I want THAT ! So I ain't gave up just yet ! Yes I get sad , angry , and ask GOD why sometimes . But today I'll trust that all things are working out in my favor....and since it was back history month 😅 I'll leave with this quote ..,
Sometimes you dint have to see the whole staircase to know exactly what's ahead just take one step at a time and you'll eventually reach destiny"

Merida is not for everyone! I think many popular areas of Mexico are too Cold for my liking. We all have a preference. Me and Erlin love the tropical heat and everything that comes with it as do many others. Thanks for sharing and good luck to you on your adventures elsewhere.

I have been to MERIDA many moons ago and I thoroughly enjoyed my stay there. I was sent there by the company (FALCO ELECTRONICS) I worked for back then. The people were very nice and accommodating. I am from India and my wife is from Cuba and with me learning and speaking 6 languages (Spanish and Haitian Patoi included) I was able to navigate the day to to day activities all by myself. I still live in Florida but never took the opportunity to move to Merida when my boss asked us to move there lock-stock-and-barrel. My kids were too little and were in different grades levels and I did not want to disrupt their education. But MERIDA is a very safe town and I was told that back then they left their doors unlocked.

Do you recommend taking a Uber at the border by the San Diego to get to Merida if I want to visit? What can I do with my budget? I probably visit for few days since I have a limited budget

Good video your friend seems like a good laid back guy. However always remember not to bring that US colonial attitude called the ugly american that I see now and then in asia, because the police are not like in the states. I saw an american get beaten up and dragged out of a bar lik a dog in thailand by the police. I wanted to assist being an American myself, but the thais held me back and told me the police would give me the same treatment. This also applies in mexico. Be respectful of the people and culture like you guys are doing and you will live well and safe. I know you understand Jose, because you speak the language and understand the culture, that's one reason I enjoy your videos that are honest, helpful and educational. I"m just adding my experiences of my travels to support your videos. Felicidad y buen salud.

I’ve never heard that Mexican schools are better?! I’ve always read differently. That’s not true at all. However, I’m sure some inner city schools could be equivalent to another shitty school system.

    • @JoseArteagaTravels

Again it all depends on what you the parent want your child to be taught. In my opinion the schools in Mexico are much better as they promote critical thinking instead of only indoctrination into the system
