12:00 Not quite. Tentaces can easily strech for 20 m, and are obvs underwater. Been stung couple times in Açores without any bladder in sight. Only spotted afterwards :/ Great videos on your channel - loved the one on white sharks
I found a Portuguese man of war on Llandudno beach in 1965. As I child I told my father who told someone who came and cordoned it off.. it was terrifying, ,huge.
Unsure what species but in Devon Summer 2022, around a period of very warm weather, there were lots of jellyfish. Hailing from the nw, it's very rare to even see one washed up on our beaches up north
They are washing up on beaches along the Texas coast in the US this year also. I have seen them before, but it's been a long time and Texas water is warm most of the year. So water temp probably isn't the main reason.
I was an ocean rescue guard for years in N.E. Florida. We get them when the winds are heavy out of the southeast. They blow in from The Gulf Stream. I've poured plenty of vinegar with treezers pulling tentacles off. I also surf, and I moved to Hawaii for four years. The winds are predominately easterly traded winds. The best waves are on the beaches where the winds are blowing off the beach, which keeps man-O-war from entering the swimming/surfing zone. But.... Sometimes, the only waves are wind generated waves on the eastern shores. Once ..... These waves were GREAT. But there were hundreds and hundreds of man-O-war. Uniquely..... the bladders were only about the size of a grape with just a single tentacle. It wasn't a problem paddle out or getting into position. But.... Once you start paddling fast to catch the wave, you're paddling too fast to see them or avoid them. Every wave you caught, the first 3-5 seconds of the ride was spent pulling off a mini man-O-war. After about an hour and a half, and 20-25 stings..... My fingers started having spastic twitches. That was about the time my buddies and I had had "ENOUGH !" and we went in. The place is called Goat Island. When it's good, it is a magical wave. Nice clip. I gave it and the Great White clip thumbs ups 👍 to feed the algorithm monsters.
I counted 250 man o wars at Mullranny in Co Mayo in the west of Ireland. In June 2023,over the period of 1 week. It was during the 'heatwave'🏴🌊🌅🏴.
@@MarineEmpires, it was a good days fishing cut very short. Its not the best but am hoping its not as bad this year. Its an area where there's a lot of surfing and watersport holidays resorts being promoted for the tourism trade. At 62 years old it was my second time seeing them. The last time was in the Clyde around 1976. 🏴🌅🌊🏴
Portuguese Man O' War have been on our south coast beaches for decades... i saw hundreds of them washed ashore on Bognor Regis beac over 40 years ago. This Not a new phenomena!
Rip headphone users, i can hear you taliking in 1 ear in stead of both. Can you fix that? In youre video about sharks visiting the UK the audio whas good
The man of war is a metaphor for our societies really. A hive mind of collaboration unable to move at the will of any single person, it’s deadly to those that defy it. That said it dies or lives depending on how willing it is to survive, and no member gets left behind. Should be a lesson to England and all her former colonies that everyone in a society is important, not just people the state deems worthy.
When i was young we had loads of Man O'war on the beaches of Cornwall. 1976 during the Mirror world sailing comp at Llandudno in Wales, the entire bay had so many Jelly fish you could hardly sail. This is nothing new imo.
You're used to venomous animals in Stralia. Of course you think it's not problem. British people haven't seen a little caiman, let alone a saltwater crocodile. Even the snakes in Britain aren't venomous. I accidentally killed a baby snake with my bicycle once. Snakes in the UK are more afraid of cats than people are afraid of snakes in Britain.

Very interesting but hard to watch. Your voice is stuck on the left side audio while your music and title screens are stereo sound.

There not a jellyfish but at 04:10 it says they are... in the newspaper article 🙄
Yeah they always get incorrectly reported as jellyfish by the papers

Seen then often on the North coast of Cornwall

2024 is an el nino year.
they don't swim. they exist.
Love the content, but my right ear felt very lonely watching this
🤣 yep seems like I made a mistake somewhere!
Scary jellyfish
If you stung by this just wash it by your own urine..
Does that work? There's a lot of myths about survival.
It’s a myth. It just makes it worse
