you are a genius, im 77 years young , and you bring back so many memorys , you can almost smell the steam and ash, and not forgetting the soot, wonderful
Thanks for the update, I love the sounds of the trains and the scenery, I love the whole package, I do remember the steam trains, we used to call them Puffing Billies.
As always Lewis, wonderful wonderful! I cannot think of another model railway which is more inspiring, and make one want to have their own railway. It’s fabulous! Thank you.
Morning Lewis, brilliant yet again, nice storyline like the passenger train had to wait to clear the coal train before it could proceed. When the coal train passed below the footbridge you've got fantastic shots, those wagons are very effective with the weathering. Really enjoyed the session thank you. Eddy xx
Well that was a delightful 11 minutes, the loco sounds were great listening through the headphones...............real powerful stuff. As someone else mentioned their best scene, then mine was the Grange pulling into the station, were you had the camera almost on the footbridge................Nice. Thankyou Lewis a wonderful video. All the best Dave.
Thanks Lewis, another fine video! The 4F helps to make evocative scenes. I recently saw a new "old stock" example of 4F 44044 at my local model shop at a reasonable price - it looked an excellent model, a very detailed and atmospheric loco, and with tender pick ups too. One of Bachmann's unsung masterpieces I think. I'm tempted, but it's out of area for my East/North Yorks modelling - unless I can find photos of 4F's on seaside excursions of course - which is something that often saves me from just buying anyway and invoking rule 1. Thanks!
For a moment i thought you connected the new station/ layout(have you😁? To Ponden and Buckdale line, then i remembered that the videos were made look seamless with the distance travelled end to end. Great coverage of the distance especially the black gold train and the passenger consist towards end of video appreciate the "over the bridge" birdeye view. Thanks for another splendid delivery of railtraffic on YDMR. Was thoroughly enjoyed😃
Hi Lewis, as always a great video with a different opening and a few camera angles I have not seen before, all back up with excellent sound. Cheers Greg
Good evening Mouldy R’, Thank you so much for a 11 beautiful moments of freedom. As others mentioned, the pulling away shot from the bridge was true work of genius getting the camera panning at what I’m guessing was a scaled speed in itself My little bit was at the very beginning in the coal yard with the pallet leaning against the wall. I’ve said it before but you are a true artist and craftsman
Excellent photography. So much better than the 'trained seagull with a camera' type. Your photography sets the 'camera man' in plausible locations that could actually be reached by him (or her). The sound makes the whole scene come alive too. Regards, Paul.
And being a lad from the South Wales Valleys, I was spoilt today with a GWR Grange AND a coal train! For someone who is way too young to remember mainline steam (even I only remember the odd steam engine shunting at the local collieries) you capture the "spirit of the steam age" so perfectly.
Wow, that was a fantastic job on the coal wagons and beautiful running session as always! The overpass/bridge shot was particular sharp... but we quibble among perfections! Cheers, Lewis... all the best to you and yours!
You should procure the right-of-way, then just build the line from your residence to your parent's! Much easier than packing whole consists and driving to and fro! The way you detail your railway adds a lotto how we see it. There is a lot to see in front of and near the tracks, drawing the eye in. The occasional glimpse of rafters, or through a tunnel are nearly unnoticeable, unless one is looking for them! Have you taken classes on composing scenes tor photography or motion pictures? You are a master!
Thanks Steven, that’s very kind of you! I’ve never taken a class, but I guess filming these most weeks for a few years allows for plenty of practise at this point!
Let me guess : a chartered holiday train from Bristol to the Dales for the Grange class. That would fit the scenario with ease. And I really loved the hardcore British coal train with a 4F and a mix of steel construction wagons in tow. It's really Northeastern style, my favorite ! Especially with the iconic British freight engine that is every 0-6-0 tender. Well, A J27 would have been more "in the mood", but a LMS 4F is also suited for the job in this area. You can guess this one is in to deliver her cargo into LMS territory from any coal field of the Northeast.
@@MouldyRaspberry I've got one, and it is a nice puller and a good looking engine. Oxford Rail had manage to sell her at a decent price, you can bet on her.
Llanvair Grange and a 4F, nice mix. Just curious, regarding the length of the goods trains on your railway, how many wagons can a 4F tender engine haul unaided?
Lewis, great shot from the bridge in the opening scene looking over the fence. Always enjoy these. Have you got any tips on creating bushes and general scatter foliage, you seem to place everything so well. I've tried to do this on the layout but it just looks like I dropped it by accident 😆 I've got myself an airbrush now btw and trying to learn that by watching your tutorials, but great to watch your running sessions
Thanks Ande! I like to use the woodland Scenics polyfibre for bushes - I tease it out so it’s quite thin, spray it with hairspray, then sprinkle woodland Scenics light green coarse turf on it, then it goes straight on the layout over the static grass. I reckon placing them where you’d expect a bush to actually grow helps too, like in dips in the landscape, up against fences and walls etc
@@MouldyRaspberry thanks Lewis. I'll try that out. My son's just turned to me whilst watching and said "when you build another layout make it like this..." ...ahhhh thats some benchmark to give me ...ouch! Lol 🤣
Hi Ross. I’ve just brought all the classes I like regardless of what make/brand they are, but Hornby, Bachmann (and Dapol) tend to make all the locos, coaches and wagons I need.
Very nice close up shots of your layout. It really highlights the attention to detail you've put into it. Do you have plans to do more "how to" / "how I did" tutorials?
"FIRST" ...Greetings to UK and thanks for surely nice 11 minutes now! ...CHEERS and "👍up" from Olli alias the crazy boy with the little dirty z-scale toys :-))

Thanks John, glad you enjoyed it!
I am crazy about steam locomotives, for whistling, heavy smoke and puffing.
You take me a century back.
Thank you sir. (India)
Thanks for watching!
What a pleasant surprise!! A Grange in Yorkshire!! Bit off the beaten track, lol 🤣 👍👍👍👍

Superb, just superb. The sights & sounds of the Yorkshire dales. The views ,the scenery the banter. Excellent. Thank you Lewis.

That was so great, Lewis. The only thing missing was the smell of a coal burning locomotive. Thanks for sharing!🇨🇦
Thanks. You can’t beat that smell!

Favourite Railway, plus favourite loco. (just bought my third Grange). Result? Perfection. Also a 4F hauling coal, chucked in as well. Terrific!
Thanks Peter. Bet you can’t wait to see the real one - I think it’s meant to steam this year isn’t it?

Thanks Steve. I’d definitely recommend it, it’s one of my favourites. Totally agree that it’s one of Bachmann’s most underrated steam locos.
In books I have I've seen pictures of 4Fs on specials from Derby to Scarborough 👍
Lovely

Hello Mouldy,
It’s me again!
Just a general question, but, what make of model would you tend to purchase?
Hi Ross. I’ve just brought all the classes I like regardless of what make/brand they are, but Hornby, Bachmann (and Dapol) tend to make all the locos, coaches and wagons I need.
