This video is so helpful! I purchased the awning and I have the Sherpa roof rack as well. I was wondering what hardware you used (washers/bolts) that weren't provided with the awning?
Got mine on too driver side and waiting for delivery.. only concern is installing the mounts/brackets on my prinsu rack but will see. Your rig looks good. #love4runner
@@malimo5233 just make sure you let it hang out off the side enough. I noticed I put a bit of a dent in my hatch from it hitting on the side. Completely my fault for not putting it out more but just an fyi.
Hey Blake - This really helped me plan out how to mount the awning. Quick question for that if you don't mind - on the 'L' bracket, do you know the *vertical* spacing distance between the mounting holes on the side that attachs to the awning? I've tried to looking up the specs on their website but no beuno. Or maybe easier - the distance between the slots on the awning itself?
@@jeffkarp3049 they don’t really matter on spacing because the carriage bolt just slides in the awning track so it can basically go anywhere besides the notched part where they enter.
Got that which is great! And I think I worded my question poorly. I’m actually not going to use the L brackets they provide. Going to mount it directly onto vertical rack posts. So wondering about the distance between the slots from top to bottom? Guessing this means you’d have to throw a measuring tape on it to know that and if so I *really* appreciate the effort!
I absolutely love it. It’s super easy and quick to deploy. I never feel like it’s a hassle or a burden and I love it for shade when I’m out on a trail or if I pull up next to a lake. It’s just those things it’s really nice to use when you got it.
Anybody else having issues closing the awning? The bag on the hinges end does not want to wrap around the awning so the zipper doesn't want to close all the way. Any help is welcomed! I live in the PNW and rain is getting in my awning, I need to close it.

Hey @emckee1143
I have a Sherpa rack and the open road awning. Unfortunately it doesn’t not come with the t slot bolts for the roof rack rails.
@@FanTexon4-Runnerthanks for the reply and the info. Just bought some from Sherpa! Now to plan my next mod while waiting on them!
are you here local in sac I feel like I have seen you and your rig at prairie city for a few events
Sherpa makes awning brackets. I wonder if it will work for this awning as well
Awning and rig setup looks great!
Thanks Spencer! I’m loving it works so good and quick to deploy.

Thinking of purchasing one, is it a good investment?

Just bought 1 i hope it handles wind.
I mean it can but I recommend if it’s windy to pack it in so you don’t screw it up. Definitely put down the legs if the wind is acting up.
Mine came with no mounting hardware. Like zero nuts or bolts
Dang well I’d email them or DM them on IG and see if they can send them out to you.
