John Ireland (1879-1962) - Ballade of London Nights
The manuscript to John Ireland's Ballade of London Nights was discovered among the composer's papers after his death. It is believed to have been composed in 1930. Alan Rowlands gave the first public performance of the piece on July 30th 1966 in the BBC Music Programme and the title is thought to come from the poet Arthur Symons, someone who Ireland admired and his 1895 collection titled London Nights.
This is an unedited recording I made on a slightly out of tune piano but I thought I would share anyway...
