❤ Thank you for this video and yes, bought the mushroom blend! 😊 2025 is my year for taking my own advice and products that I create rather than caring for others before myself. I baked various sourdough breads today and froze some for summer eating, but plan to strain tinctures Friday once my dishwasher’s repaired (deep cleaning jars).
Hot water causes the metal ring to expand away from the glass. It works if the ring rust hasn't fused to the glass. I use the hot water method and tap the ring (lightly) on the cupboard to cause the lid to decompress.
Grow it just as you grow ginger. You can actually raise either fairly successfully in cloth containers. You won't get huge yields...but you can easily produce enough for your needs. Search "how to grow ginger".
David, I have old stor bought turmeric root that is starting to dry out. Can I use that to grow sprouts of new root growth. If yes, what time of year. And what process. Is the sprouts better to consume than the new full-grown turmeric? Is growing turmeric and ginger exactly the same, or is there best practices for unique turmeric?
I want to start slow with just maybe 1 or 2 hives. Do you have a video on how to start being a small beekeeper and what’s involved? If not could you do that? Like a process from A-Z and how to do things holistically with bees?
Hi. What was the temperature in your area to allow the bees to be that active? Your apiary looks really nice in the fenced in area. Are you planning any early mite treatments? I am a bit further north than you. I checked my apiary, yesterday, but the temperature was only about 35 degrees F. A few of the hives were in the direct sun when I looked at them, and I did see a few bees at the entrance crawling around. There is still snow on the ground. All last week the temps were around zero degrees F. My bees have been clustered in the hives since about Thanksgiving. The forecast for Wednesday is 50 degrees F in my area, so I may get to observe active hives then.
It was mid 40s but felt warmer today. I plan to heavy split my colonies in spring. I'll do a mite check, but I'm working on an experiment using herbs instead of mite treatments. So far so good!
I didn't realise they dropped them away from the hives.. I have seen other videos where keepers let their chickens roam around the apiary eating the dead bees from beneath the hives. Does this behaviour vary?
Thank you! Your videos inspired me to become a beekeeper 🐝
I also signed up for your herbal class 🤩
💛💛💛
As a beekeeper myself it so cool to see what you are seeing in the middle of an Illinois winter. They are amazing creatures.

Hello friend! This was a fun one , enjoyed it , kept it real ! Nice film ❤!😊😊
Back in the day, I had a pen pal in Flint, Michigan.
I have fond memories of that.

Thank goodness I just ordered but with a subscription.
I can't believe melting snow and flying bee's!! Here in Northern Michigan we've had over 10 feet of snow, we've got a lot to melt through. 😂
Awesome video thank you
Video request submission "How to grow turmeric." All the sweetest details

I’ve heard that if you have a double row fencing, that deer will not jump the fence, I don’t know you may want to check into that.
❤❤❤ was talking to the cat about this yesterday lol
Where did you get your bee veil? I love it! Is it homemade?? Do you have a tutorial? Thanks! 🐝

@@TheHoneysteadwill you keep us posted on your herbal treatment experiment? I would love to learn what you find out💚

ah so so cool i will try this homemade honey mustard recipe
I want to order from the mushroom blend but i am in Canada 😭
Are brown mustard sprouting seeds the same as the seed you’re using here?
Where do you get your bee vails?
Random thought moment! Have you experimented with Birch tree tea stuff...chaga comes from it....once could plant birch trees for a long term plan 🤔
I love Chaga! I don't see it in my area too much... but up north is where it's at!!
@@TheHoneysteadI love wild crafting Chaga! I have it everywhere in Alaska.
Do you ever lose all your bees in winter? Do you have to spray chemicals for mites?
I did my very first year.. I have since focused on bee gut health and do not treat my bees!
😍🐝😍
Tell us about irrigation options you'll consider.

Do you have to burp the mustard?
Are you using brown mustard seed? All seeds i see are light brown… thx 🥰
I am!
That is wax paper.
I think bees actually vibrate the plates on their body to create heat. In a tight cluster I don't think they can flap their wings.
Vibrate is a better word... vibrate their wings💛
