I'd give anything to be the one roaming around this empty mall just watching this, and i have feelings of nostalgia thriving all over me, especially when entering into the arcade. I miss those times of being a kid
This really invoked that nostalgia in me that not many backrooms videos do. Probably because I was born in the 80s and this reminded me a lot about those times. You really captured the essence of liminal space. I appreciate this work! As much as I did like Kane's work as well, I feel like THIS is what it should be when I think of liminal spaces and at some point people lost site of that with silly monsters and yellow suits. I think as long as you keep it more of a sense of being followed instead of showing it, and keep the research company in more of the background, you really have something different and eerie when it comes to liminal space psychological horror
"...THIS is what it should be when I think of liminal spaces and at some point people lost site of that with silly monsters and yellow suits." - Yes, 100%. So many creative possibilities offered by the entire 'Backrooms' concept. This channel is at least prepared to go and take a look...
@@philipford6183 "So many creative possibilities".....you mean different varieties of empty rooms yes? I'm amused by you kinds of people who complain about entities being added....and then still have the nerve to talk about "tHe MaNy PoSsIbIlTiEs" when in reality you should just say what you really mean, which is "the possibilities that I approve of."
Nothing is wrong with the entity concept. Sure some of them are purely comedic gags....and then lets not even talk about the stupid dancing videos.... But entities when done properly, add to the backrooms. Backrooms WILL NOT last for much longer if people like you get your way who want it to remain endless empty spaces and rooms forever. I'm half convinced your type has this weird "mine mine" elitist nonsensical attitude and would rather the Backrooms vanish altogether than change in any way, shape, or form, which is will HAVE TO DO if it's to last more than another year or so. Remember when it vanished for a time? Guess what brought it back? Kane Pixels and his inclusion of entities. But sure, go ahead and deny it. I'm sure you're already priming you're response ready to "prove" you know something I don't.
What I like about this series is that the backroom sections seem to be based on this protagonist's personal nostalgia and sentimental spots (Christmas decorations, a mall, Neon Arcade, and now a Diner). Makes it all the more unsettling since these supposedly homely landmarks still reflect the cold, eeriness of the backrooms themselves.
Those diner menu posters look like they're made with an AI art generator, what with the garbled words and not-quite-accurate depictions of the meals. It's surprisingly fitting for the Backrooms. Having music playing in the mall complex adds tension because you can never tell where it's coming from (or why). Amazing work overall!
This is FINEST dreamcore! I can't wait for the next episode! You gave me goosebumps, I've just returned from a shopping mall with arcades everywhere and dreamed a lot about being lost or locked in alone as a kid in an empty mall. I think this is the best addition to the backrooms since the poolrooms!
Another outstanding piece! I LOVED this! Was so cool to finally see the Arcades Section, and boy did the food images make me feel hungry! Would be pretty cool to see a Found Footage where the Wanderer actually finds food and drink, keeping them alive to keep venturing further into the Backrooms :)
What can I say to convey how much your content stands out from 90% of the other Backrooms videos out there? I just REALLY feel like your places are real. That quiet walk through the areas at the end were just stunning. Man, I wanted it to last so much longer. God bless you friend, you make worlds.
A very good recreation of what i presume is level 40, though the entrance to the level isn't located within a mall , but i digress its not really that important. Its actually a safe level (class 1 difficulty) its also secure with minimal entities, you'll find an occasional Faceling (entity 9) playing one of the arcade machines, but they possess the "level 11 effect" and are completely harmless. The level 11 effect originates from level 11 (obviously) but it makes any entities who are affected, passive and even friendly, for example Facelings will behave and interact with wanderers as normal pedestrians would and hounds (entity 8) will behave like a normal domesticated dog from the frontrooms (our reality) would behave and so on. Resources are seemingly plentiful and the food is safe to consume, except anything that's with a "glowing" lime colored substance called "General Starflare's Universal Sauce" and you should be good. The games are playable for the most part, many are actual games from the frontrooms and some games aren't.
Gate Sync is officially in my top 3 favorite Liminal Space/Backrooms/Vaporwave whatever you wanna call it RUclipsrs now. Up there with Donnabit and Paranormal Found Footage. Kane may have inspired many but I prefer these others new challengers.
Can't imagine the work this takes to put together, but the attention to detail speaks for itself. Great design, beautiful, eriee spaces. The essence of 'Backrooms' distilled.
4:43 Foles.. and something that looks like brown fingers on a bun.. Garza and above that.. A sliced mini pumpkin on top of ... Spaghetti? This is wild. None of those items have prices either. it looks LIKE a menu but it's nonsense, this is a great detail GSR. This would definitely fit my A.I. theory. The "Menu" next to it has what looks like a Slug with grass on the top. 😂 It looks as you told someone what it looks like that has never seen food before. Next to that we have RERUS : i think i'll get two WHOLE UNCOOKED EGGS (still in the shell) with what looks like an Omelet, a Grilled cheese Sandwich, Spaghetti again with Broccoli (then above that a Triangle of meat, a Cup O' Noodles with a bent spoon then above that looks like 3 Italian dishes (cept for the plate of Grass with Tomato sauce on it. )
An interesting set of assets, but I often feel as though people who didn't live through the 1980s never really understand the 1980s. This captures the vibe pretty well.
The only thing thats missing is the floor wouldn't be tile, it was always that faded dark purple or grey thin carpet or something. The linoleum wasn't really a thing until the early to mid 90s
These are the best backrooms tapes i've ever seen! They're very atmospheric, looking ABSOLUTELY INSANE GOOD, and they are not made to scare you away with tons of stupid entities! Thank you:3
Would be cool to hear some kind of human intervention i.e some noise or reaction from Dr Richard behind the camera - I feel like that would make it even more absorbing and add to the strange/scary absurdity of it all. These videos are amazing though. Massive respect. The long wavy corridor at the end with the darkness/drop off on the right gave me chills
It's super awesome and I love it!!! Please have mercy on us your followers and make a demo, video game or something similar. I wanna be there!!! Please!!!
Just finding this channel like a lot of you. Gate Sync is going to have a lot of subscribers soon if he keeps this up, or fizzle out if he slow down. Regardless, thanks for the amazing content! I'm here as long as this lasts.
I love your work! Your series has a eerie creepy feeling that has a nostalgic aesthetic coupled with the music makes for a fun adventure. I used to really love arcades as a child. I remember seeing tons of cabinet arcades, bumper cars, ticket arcades, PIZZA!, overly colorful carpet and neon lights everywhere. Are you using blender? I'd love to try my attempt at a backrooms themed adventure.
So very awesome, interesting and inspiring video, I really liked and enjoyed it. Great job and well done, keep up the great work, I got a lot of inspiration for the Backrooms inspired liminal space exploration story/series I’m working on writing.
I've had so many dreams that take place in arcade rooms. They're sometimes dirty though like a car someone doesn't clean, with candy wrappers and papers on the blue carpet floor and arcade chairs from time to time. The bathrooms are always all blue in my dream, with random sinks, toilets, and even bathtubs in a messed up arrangement. Many years ago, I used to talk about the Backrooms and dreams with people. I've even had dreams in the Backrooms themselves, and I once got out too, past the perimeter security hallway which looked like a Home Depot. On the outside, there were rusted maintenance machines under a corrugated steel roof on a concrete patio. Beyond that, under the cut open chain link fence, was a misty woodland, which looked something like the Dead Swamps from LotR mixed with the terrain of Metal Gear Solid 3. It may just be my mind filling the gaps with local shopping malls, but I feel like I'm not supposed to talk about the secrets of using the elevator. I've wanted to get around to making art or something about my Backrooms dreams but never had the time.
Seeing that arcade with all those lovely neon lights, that brought back memories! Then it's off to the food court....the very spacious food court. Do they have an Orange Julious at this mall?
looks like the interior of the Pizzaplex from the (controversial) game Security breach... i wish that game plays more with the liminal feel and unsettling side these kind of environments with neon would give us. however i also love how some retake that style of just plain cool architecture. nice video, that was like a good visit
Its like if you stay in the arcade at a mall until closing and you're all alone until a clerk taps you on the back saying the mall is closing in 10 minutes
How do yall make these videos? Are they made on a computer or do people film abandoned locations or something sorry if that's a stupid question. Great job by the way looks awsome to me.
The arcade may be a fun place to play some games here, but I wouldn't recommend you stay here for any reasons, because it's still not normal as the ones back in our world, the backrooms is still a hostile environment.
Perhaps a dead mall and arcade that ended up noclipping out of the frontrooms like a few known levels have done before it. This is remarkably liminal in nature, well done.
I'd give anything to be the one roaming around this empty mall just watching this, and i have feelings of nostalgia thriving all over me, especially when entering into the arcade. I miss those times of being a kid
The attention to detail in your series is astounding, man, including the sound design! Some the most realistic, ever. 10/10, as always. 🏆

This is how the backrooms could have trapped me forever in the 90s. Great job creating a place that I would still love to visit IRL.

must be really profound for you then considering you had related dreams.
Un clásico de los 80s .
It would be really scary if the arcade was just all claw machines. Seriously, fuck those things.
Love the introductory screen/sounds, and the overall presentation as well.
That moment, when the wanderer stares at the fully dark mall hallway proves how unsettling can the Backrooms be without ANY entities. Good Job.
The colors at the opening made me think of the 1980s film, Night of the Comet. The arcade made me think of Flynn's from Tron.
