Becky, we receive farm fresh produce from farmers that have extra. As senior citizens it is a blessing. I did not have to purchase any zucchini, lettuce or eating tomatoes (I did purchase canning tomatoes but at a great price of $5.99 for 25 lbs). Thank you for giving to both seniors and families! Hug.
Aw I love that!
@@AcreHomesteadWe are big fans of most any green as well as most every recipe from the Mediterranean/Middle Eastern cuisines. Our love for global dishes were a welcome addition to the long list of Appalachian & family staples that I was raised eating & adoring (not so much my hubby, but he quickly realized that butter, farm fresh eggs & garden anything was superior 😂). We had grown Arugula & cucumbers over one of our cattle panel arches for a few years until I heard Tipper Pressley mention 'Malabar Spinach' here on YT & it’s amazing lifespan! It truly is a garden workhorse & can be used in multitudes of ways from early spring through hard frost. We highly recommend watching one of her videos or simply giving it a try. Sending hugs, love & prayers that you all may enjoy a wonderful & blessed remainder of this weekend 🤗💜🙏🏻.
Becky. I also am a senior citizen, and I’ve been trying to find where I can find fresh produce from? How were you able to get your extra from the farmers? Would I just call around?
@@annwheeler1658 ….. look for a facility that does senior commodities, there is a government program that subsidizes people 65 and older in Ohio. Each month they give out boxes with canned goods, canned meat, peanut butter, beans, cereals, boxed milk and powdered milk, spaghetti noodles, pasta sauce and a block of cheese. Farmers give extra produce and they bag it up for the seniors…….
When we grew cantaloupes, my husband made a big mound of dirt and then planted several seeds a few inches apart at the top of the mound. The vines and leaves just went their own way and produced soooo many cantaloupes. When we harvested them, my daughter would come home from work and see our harvest and say, “Oh no…not MORE cantaloupes!!!!) She got so sick of them🤣🤣
Recap New home, massive home changes, had a baby, redid the whole back yard for the the most amazing gardens, WINNER WINNER!! Your attitude and grace is AMAZING!!
I agree! I get tired just watching. 🤣🤣🥰🥰
She's amazing
So happy that you have a mic on Becky , much improvement to the sound of your wonderful videos . Always great to give to the needy , good on you.... Your garden is so great ...
Amen! I've been watching her older ones a lot more because the sound was so 😊 good. Thank You Becky!!!❤
At last, I am so glad she's eventually decided to use a mic, I've been asking her for a while to do it. I always had to turn her videos up so high then whenever the adverts came on they were extremely loud. This will make a huge difference to her videos now.
I am so glad to hear you and your mother-in-law found a local place to donate your harvest. :) As you know, our community (and surrounding areas) can use as much help as they can get. Bless you both for your generosity.
When you opened that corn I yelled “yay”. My husband looked at me like I was the strangest thing. I’m happy that you are able to have a corn harvest this year.
If you harvest the ripe pumpkins now, the plant will have more energy to ripen the others. You might be able to get some of them to ripen on the vine.
Please film the rest of the harvest and garden cleanup! Your garden is mesmerizing! It's so abundant!
Yes! I love watching her clean the plants up out of the beds.
@@hnhardin1217 I enjoy clean ups too.
I agree. I save up episodes, then binge watch them on my rare days off (which is what happens when you manage a start-up reference lab - limited time off!). Having a bunch of Becky videos to relax with is just about my favorite thing for my days off!
I do the same thing! Especially when you lets you know what recipes you can use all the things for. @@bethhelminiak5063
Hi Becky, I’ve been watching you from the beginning, and I still to this day think you should get a wagon. Lol it’s seems silly I know but girl, you can fit so much in a wagon and you can take it with you from bed to bed instead of setting things down everywhere then going back to pick them up. I have back issues and my wagon has been a life saver!
i love my wagon
She has a side by side. Wonder why she doesn't use it?
I think she had a gorilla cart at the last house, didn’t she?
Nice to be young, Enthusiastic and energetic like Becky.
I just take my wheelbarrow out. So handy!
Our local food bank is always grateful for fresh produce. And yes, overcrowding your garden definitely impacts your harvest.
New drinking game: Take a shot every time Becky finds a new zucchini!
Or says oh my goodness friends!! 😂
😂
So adorable
We would all be dead. 😂😂😂
Or says, “massive” or “ton of”.
Thank you for mentioning your dad's devotional channel a few videos back, I have been so blessed by his lives. They are just what I need lately. Your mom is so encouraging in the chat too. 🥰
Mind sharing the channel here so I can check it out as well?! Thank you!!
Hi Becky, I’m a veggie gardener in Wyoming and I love to watch your channel! Powdery mildew is omnipresent in the soil/air, and many if not most cucurbits get it later in the season. The best way to avoid it is to give the plant more room to grow, hence more airflow around the leaves. I also look for seed varieties that are PM resistant. I heard a master gardener once say “90% of the success of a plant happens before the seeds ever go in the ground. Seed genetics and soil health.” Words I’ve lived by!
Lucky you..the deer always ate my garden before I could
That is excellent information! I had the same problem, but mine were grown indoors as i was not allowed to have them on my balcony! THanks so much for sharing, will have to keep my eye out for the brands you suggested!
Hi Becky! I think a garden wagon would be such a benefit to you! You have such a wonderful haul so often, it just seems like it would be helpful on your back!!❤ I know you are young now but from experience I now regret no taking those things into consideration 😮
And baby Acre can ride in it to the garden too!
Helpful tip: when you plant to close together they compete for the same sun, water, air and nutrients in the soil. When plants are young it may seem like it is not a problem as you want to maximize every square inch but at harvest time it is a real problem. The space between plants should be considered just as you would consider soil nutrients a must. Slow down and take time to do it right the first time and you will be a master in no time at all. You did have an abundant harvest but imagine the possibilities. Also harvest time is so pretty and when things are crowded so tightly that joy of "seeing" the plant lessens as well. Hope that makes sense.
Wow thanks so much!
Hey BECKY! A suggestion for your trellis. A Chinese wisteria vine. They r beautiful and they make great shade. I have one that is over 15 years old and it's just lovely. When it blooms the purple blooms look like bunches of grapes. Google it. I'm not sure how well it would grow where u r. 😊
I have been a gardener for over 40 years and still struggle to remember how huge plants will be once they mature.
I was just about to share the same tip. A lot of heavy eaters are in the same bed, so I can see why the plants are impacted as they mature. Gardening is such a huge learning experience.
I think that's been commented on here before. Less is more. Plant less and get more....more healthier and nutritious produce. Quality over quantity. Mindful planting Becky. Regardless you did produce lovely veg this year.
Thank you for using a microphone!!! I am so excited for you with your beautiful garden harvest.
Hallelujah!!!!
THANK YOU FOR GETTING A MIROPHONE!!! I thought it was my phone just not being able to pick up your audio but the microphone was what it was so thank you now I can watch your videos and actually hear!
I think your corn might be a lil tightly planted for germination. The top is where the pollen is, and it needs to be able to fall into the rest of the plans to produce the seeds (corn)
When we had a small garden, we hilled our corn...put them on a row of hill and used the valley to water them....sort of the way cornfields watered with irrigation pipes...but with our garden hose. More professional gardeners could tell you if that might have helped your corn grow bigger. But first time getting corn...awesome girl!
If you're not going to get your green house built next year, have you thought of maybe using that plot to grow corn so you can get a little extra and have more room to grow them?
Yeah, corn is wind-pollinated, and needs space. You can seed it closely, but it needs to be thinned 12-18” apart.
🌹🏵🌻Don't forget you can freeze dry your flowers for fall and winter bouquets! It's great incentive to grow ALL the colors 🌻🌺🥀🌹🏵
I grew the Musquee de Provence pumpkins here in MN last year. Some of the best pie pumpkins I have ever tasted! I had to let them sit a couple months after harvest because they were a little green. Beautiful dark orange flesh and dense. I spot fertilized in each transplant hole with worm castings and azomite dust. I had two that were 70 lbs each! They are a slower growing pumpkin, so I will seed start them 3 weeks earlier than other squash seeds next year.
Your Zinnias and Cinderella pumpkins are BEAUTIFUL!
Here is an idea on helping to minimize being overwhelmed by your garden tasks: ZONE YOUR GARDEN
You have 20 raised beds. You might split the beds say into 5 zones (4 beds in each zone) my idea is is that you could take maybe 20-30 (more or less depending upon the tasks) minutes each day in 1 zone. Monday zone 1, Tuesday zone 2, Wednesday zone 3 & so on. Whatever needs addressed in that zone you do, weather it be planting in spring, weed maintenance during the growing season or harvesting. Just an idea to minimize being overwhelmed. Thank you for bringing us along in your garden & kitchen.
I am in zone 5 - my cantaloupes were a bust. My butternut, Long Island cheese, and Cinderella pumpkins were great. Zephyr squash and zucchini were great - I was able to share cucumbers and zucchini with friends and family.
I love growing winter squash! I am so glad yours did well!
Zephyr’s are my absolute favorite summer squash.
@lindaedwards9756 I'm new to gardening. I'm just wondering what type of zucchini is a Zephyr? (I rescued a Papillion dog years ago and he came with the name Zephyr!)
@@robertlavigne6560 Zephyr is a hybrid summer squash that is both yellow and some green. It is very prolific here and survives squash bug and squash borer pressure better than most. Has a thin skin and a nutty taste. Cook like you would any other summer squash. Not all seed companies carry it. Mine came from David’s Seeds. I live in SC zone 7. It’s a rock star in my garden.
I don't know how much corn you eat throughout the year. My opinion, till another garden plot, in your yard (that is about the size of 3 of your beds), Plant corn in the ground and place a fence around it. You can use your gardening box for something else that you need to watch closer than your corn. That way you can harvest more corn. Just a suggestion! 😊❤
Hi, Becky. The little cabbages are great in stir-fry. If you cut broccoli & cauliflower low on the stem, they will grow mini florets around the harvested cut. Maybe next year, you may want to grow bok choy to add to your stir fry dishes.
You’re garden is always so beautiful!
Thank you so much!
Those overgrown zucchini make a great mock apple pie filling! My daughter’s friend is allergic to fruit, and it was wonderful to be able to make an “apple” crisp for her when she visited.
I saw that recently! Interesting.
Becky, those are cabbage sprouts on the cabbage that you cut earlier. They are great to eat. I grew up on a farm and we used to let them grow on our cut cabbage and ate them. You can freeze and can them also . Taste like regular cabbage. Just wanted you to know.
Neem for the squash bugs. The squash rugs might be the problem with your winter squash foliage.
PS Huge Tomatoes!! My goodness. Beautiful.
Im so glad that you got a mic .. 😊😊
Another RUclipsr I watched planted loofa seeds in her arched trellis.. it looked so cool with all the “fruit “ hanging down.
I love how excited you get! Watching reminds me of my childhood. Im 62, and we had 1/2 acre of garden as a kid, and i was the one they knew would harvest stuff properly, lol. So rewarding!❤
Wow the harvest season has been abundant this year!👏
So happy for your big harvest given the rough start! Can’t wait to see the garden next year.

Hello lovely lady! :D
I just finished sorting through over 80 pounds of tomatoes today and I chopped up another 12 pounds to go into the freezer for cooking down this winter.
Then my handsome husband and I harvested three baskets full of sweet and spicy peppers. Abundant harvests, all around. God's blessings abound. Amen! :D
God bless you and your wonderful family. Have an awesome day my fabulous friend! :D
