Thanks for sharing your greenstalks with us! Just an idea that I did this past summer here is Oz...I made a kitchen garden for my balcony which is closest to my kitchen...all my herbs went into the pots. It was such a great idea that some of my friends did it too, even the ones with no garden, who just had a balcony in an apartment! All we have to do is step outside and snip off what we want. I've now planted some lettuce in a mini lightweight greenhouse out there and just snip off the leaves for a salad. My veggie patch is further away from my kitchen so this worked so well for convenience! Happy planting!

I love crockpots for easy dinners. I don't usually do lasagna in one, because I prefer the consistency of and depth in a pan in the oven. I DO have a casserole crockpot though which is great if I want to do a casserole especially for a party or buffet meal. Enchiladas turn out great. In a regular crockpot use any of your freezer meal meat marinades you have posted recently. My family's favorite favorite meal in the crockpot is one called Key West Ribs from Pillsbury. Been making. It for probably 20 years at least. 2 1/2
    lb country-style pork loin ribs
    1/4
    cup finely chopped onion
    1/4
    cup barbecue sauce
    1
    teaspoon grated lime peel
    2
    tablespoons lime juice
    1
    teaspoon grated orange peel
    1/4
    cup orange juice
    1/2
    teaspoon salt
In 3 1/2- to 4-quart slow cooker, place pork ribs. In small bowl, mix remaining ingredients. Pour over ribs.
    2
Cover; cook on Low heat setting 7 to 9 hours. Spoon sauce over ribs.
Serve with rice and black beans, and a sprinkle of cilantro, and lime.

Beautiful! The lobelia was on sale because it's a cooler weather plant. It will probably languish if your temps get into the 90s. They will probably be beautiful for you for a good while. I love them, but here in my Texas zone 8 garden they won't last long. I think you're also zone 6 or 7, but probably don't get quite as hot as we do.

*Question- What kind of "cherry" or small tomatoes would you recommend planting in the Green Stalk? I bought my mom a GS and she wants to fill it with tomatoes, Strawberries and flowers! 🍅🍓🌷

I love my greenstalks. But my experience has taught me to keep the drain hose leading off the concrete because when I fertilized the plants , the excess fertilizer that drained out etched our patio.

Wow your mom's view & Koi pond is beautiful. She seems so fun to be around. Now I see where you get it from 😁You've inspired me to give the greenstalks a try. Been wanting to grow herbs & simple flowers. I have smaller yard so these would be perfect space wise & seem very beginner friendly.

Since you went into detail about how you did not add lemon juice to your tomato sauce, according to the "USDA Complete Guide to Home Canning" on page 3-5 it says you need add acidification to tomato products whether you water bath can "or" pressure can. Under standard tomato sauce it is in bold to add acitification. Pressure canning does not changethe need to add acitification. Just thought you would want to know since people watch your canning videos.

I may be wrong and don’t have the time at the moment to go back and watch the video (I’m back in from lunch) but I believe she said she added onions to the tomato mixture which are high in acidity if I’m not mistaken.

    • @sherylh4780
      @sherylh4780 Год назад +3

@@suzetteblair8419 If i am wrong I apologize. Using the direction in the USDA Complete Guide to Home Canning for tomato juice or vegetable juice with onions you still have to add acitification. Stewed Tomatoes with onions require acitification. Again, if I am wrong I apologize. I will still be putting lemon juice in my canned tomato products. It is just to easy to put in a little sugar in if it is to tart. I know she said she didn't want to put sugar in it.

Oh my goodness, your green stalks are going to be beautiful! I have one green stalk with various things in it. But I made a mistake and had to go back and correct, by not lining up the holes in the watering trays in between each layer. I just wasn’t paying attention and stuck them on without lining them up, which I realized afterward and fixed. Can’t wait to see yours all blooming!

Her barn had rows of hanging flowers and big pots and baskets full of every kind of flowers and plants! Lavender was my wife's favorite!
