Thanks for joining me and my dad in the garden for this harvest! I hope you all have a fantastic day! My dad's daily devotional channel is here - www.youtube.com/@bewithjesus365
Omg 😱 😂I see - dried apples, apple sauce, preserved apples, apple butter, apple crumble, apple cake , pears as well . Plus maybe apple cider ??? Apple cider vinegar ?? How fabulous xxx Plus I see preserved potatoes, chips, roasted, mashed, and even soup xxxx
Also, pears are usually picked unripe from the tree as they ripen from the inside out. They are need cold storage before ripening. Learned this after many years of our prolifically producing pear tree giving us unusable pears. Turns out it was our fault, not the trees:)
After you cut up your apples for pie filling, hand pies, crisps, applesauce etc, nobody will be able to tell that you cut off a sun spot, bruise or bug damage. They will only know delicious! The perfect ones are good for storage. Remember to save some for stuffing your turkey and for pork roasts. They sweeten the meat in the best ways and keep them moist.
It would take too long to tell you how my dad and I planted potatoes when my girls were little. It was magical. Thanks for the memories. It really is buried treasure. 35 years later and my daughters still remember the excitement. ❤️
Before next year’s potato harvest, get a Potato Fork (a.k.a. Garden or Spading fork). The tines are much broader and less damaging than the narrow tines of a Pitchfork, designed for “pitching” straw or hay.
I was just ready to mention that! Lucky I scrolled down to find your post. We always used a potato fork to harvest out potatoes. The hay forks are not meant to use with dirt like a shovel.
I love your Dad's devotional channel. Be with Jesus 365. It's been a real blessing watching it everyday. I recommend it to everyone out there.❤ Great harvest Becky.👍❤
Becky I ordered the canning book you recommended in your last video. I got it today and oh my word! I started flipping through it before work. My husband found me on the floor with my dog flipping through pages like a little kid. I haven't been this excited to try new recipes since my last book purchase 2 years ago. Thank you so much.
@mtblondie0036 🤣 we have 6 dogs. 5 of them are young boxers. If I had the boxers with me on the floor, there wouldn't be much flipping either. But my senior pittie loves hanging out doing chill things with me. He loves when I lay there and talk to him or read to him.
I was born and raised in Oregon and we had 25 acres of apple trees. You can wrap them in newspaper and put in cardboard boxes in a cool garage they will last until spring. We canned applesauce, pie filling, dehydrated, juiced apples and gifted the area w apples.
Awesome harvest! I recommend that you prune those apple trees this fall, it doesn't look like they've been pruned in awhile. One way that I prep my beds for winter is to spread alfalfa hay across the top of the beds and let it rot over the winter, then I turn it under before spring planting. It is great fertilizer, prevents weeds, and when you turn in under it helps your soil retain moisture through the summer months..
I love seeing your parents help in the garden! The smile on your dad's face is so contagious! Harvesting potatoes is so satisfying and rewarding! I am grateful that you are willing to take us along while you learn to be a better gardener and I am doing what I can to become a better one as well. I admire your motivation to provide your family with delicious fresh foods! I hope your fall garden is everything that you have been dreaming of!
Nothing boring about growing potatoes! I actually find the harvesting part quite addictive: once I start it’s pretty much impossible to stop, so they better all be ready! Love seeing you working with your mum and dad, they’re both naturals on the camera. Will be growing russets next season here in Tasmania!
There is a picking tool for high branches we use in new England It's a pole, with a small basket/lid. The fruit falls into the basket. Its really nice because no ladder is needed!
I love your dad's daily devotionals. Your parents are the sweetest people, and so loving and kind. I wish everyone could feel the love they have for one another. You are truly blessed! Love your YT channel. I have learned so much. Thank you!
I love seeing you spend time with your dad . I lost my dad when he was 50 yrs old hes been gone 43 years ago it hurts like it just happened. Cherish your parents my mom is still with us she just turned 91. ❤️.
Becky! How sweet that your Dad has a devotional channel. I definitely signed up. Will start in the morning when I wake. So glad your potato harvest went well!
When I see your dad jumping in to help, it brings tears (of joy) to my eyes. That was my dad. He passed away 3 years ago and this video reminds me to appreciate how lucky I was!
You are so blessed to have your Dad, he is such a great help as you know. My father has been gone over 20 years now and I still miss him everyday. The harvest was enormous...so happy for your family.
The correct way to pick apples. You turn the eye of the apple to the sky the apple will break off the tree. The eye is on the bottom of the Apple. If you just pull the apple down you can damage the branch of the tree. Amazing harvest. 👏👍
Really enjoyed watching your dad's excitement as he harvested potatoes. I also appreciate the bond between you and your parents. My dad and I were extremely close and did many things together. Miss him every day!
Sweet parents❤ you should be so pleased with your first year garden at this house. Congratulations on a job well done. I plan to listen to your dads devotional channel. You are an inspiration as are your parents. Thanks for sharing.
I am watching your dad help you really missing my grandpa he used to help me all the time with anything I needed. You are blessed to have family that loves and helps you!!❤
It's amazing that you take advantage of all the food you have available and share it, too. I don't have any fruit trees and it saddens me to see some trees full of fruit in my area that people do not eat or give away. The fruit just falls off the branches and rots. Your generosity is rewarded. It seems like the more you share the better harvest you get. Very well deserved.
This makes me sad too. We have a new-ish neighbor and I just found out that he cut down the pear tree in his backyard because last year they fell off the tree and he had a ton of bugs. I’m like, I would have happily come over and picked them all off the tree! 😢
A far as the apples are concerned most sunspots and small damage can be cut away and the rest of the apple should still be ok, me and my foster mother used to even pick them off the ground , cutting out the bad spots and making apple sauce and canning chunked for pies and such. Awesome harvest! Stuffed zucchini boats are so delicious! I have frozen a bunch in the past as well for stir-fries.
I’m moving soon and will have a garden for the first time since I was a child. You’ve inspired me to grow some produce. I’m definitely going to grow some russet potatoes. I’m going to get me a garden diary to tell me when to plant seeds and baby plants. I’m planning a start in January. Can’t wait. xx
Hi Becky’s dad. You win father of the year. Harvesting memories stay with you for a life time. Whenever I’m in the soil memories of harvesting with my grandmother just come back like it happened yesterday & that was over 50 years ago.
Loved this video with your Dad helping. I enjoy his You tube channel Be With Jesus 365! Very encouraging. Yay on your fruit and potato harvest. Im so happy for you. God bless you for sharing your knowledge and your wealth of abundance!
Maybe you could pick some of the damaged fruit and put them on the boundary of your property for the wildlife to eat, instead of it rotting on the trees.
Apple seeds do contain just the tiniest amount of cyanide, the chickens would have to eat a huge truckload of seeds every day to even start feeling sick. In short, no problem even for humans if you accidentally swallow a seed.
How awesome that you have your parents close by to help. I am addicted to watching all your videos. Those apples would make some amazing Applebutter jam. Russet potatoes are pretty much what we eat! I am encouraged to look into gardening in the spring. Not as big as yours but small enough to start and find what we like to grow and eat ! We love homemade salsa so veggies for that is a must! Loving all the canning tips!
Becky thank you so much. I used to harvest with my Dad. I could smell the freshly turned soil right throught the video! The excitement that you and your Dad have is so joyful!!! What a great apple and pear harvest! And wow was there alot of potatoes!! So fun. Hugs.
Gnocchis, French fries, mashed potatoes, baked potatoes, potatoes and eggs, potato soup, one potato two potato Awesome garden! Lots of luck with your harvest, very impressive 😊

Hey Becky! Quick question, can you link the apron you wear in your kitchen while cooking, with the crisscross back please? 😊
I can't find your dad link can you put in please Thank you!😊
Hi Becky, hey friends, my son just yelled from his room. Becky dropped a video. Met me in the living.😂❤😂
So glad it came back on. Love videos with your parents. What a blessing for you and us.
I hope u all to
Damaged apples or pears = cider, brandy, pie filling, sauce, vinegar and so many other yummy things. Don't stress over a little damage from the sun. 😊
Yes Becky has done most of these in previous apple harvests so talented 😁💕
I love how your parents are so helpful & enjoy spending time with you.
Absolutely. Wish my parents did! It’s such a treasure. It makes me happy seeing a happy family together.
Also they probably get to see the baby 😊
I suspect they get to cuddle a very special family member as a result xxx
Omg 😱 😂I see - dried apples, apple sauce, preserved apples, apple butter, apple crumble, apple cake , pears as well . Plus maybe apple cider ??? Apple cider vinegar ?? How fabulous xxx Plus I see preserved potatoes, chips, roasted, mashed, and even soup xxxx
I am so happy for you, that your harvest is so greatly
Also, pears are usually picked unripe from the tree as they ripen from the inside out. They are need cold storage before ripening. Learned this after many years of our prolifically producing pear tree giving us unusable pears. Turns out it was our fault, not the trees:)
That’s what I was told to do, and was thinking about it all tgrough the segment. Pears that ripen fully on the tree are generally quite mushy.
I love the excitement your dad has digging potatoes 😊
Treasure hunt😂 ❤❤
I lost my dad a year ago and I gotta say this is super comforting to watch you two together. Definitely memories to last y’all a lifetime!
Agreed ❤
I love that your dad is so willing to help you. I watch your dad’s devotional pretty regularly and love the encouragement.
Does your father have a RUclips channel?
@@jessicavelzy2108he does. I dont recall the name though. Maybe reply to the person who regularly watches him.
Did I miss the link to Dad’s daily devotional?

I do the same thing lol but my three dogs usually don't allow me to do much flipping lol
Wonderful! That makes me so happy!
I bought it too! It is awesome!

I got the new book also and I’m the little sister but I’m teaching my big sister how to can so i ordered one for her too
Humble plants have fed this nation! Apples, pears, russets. Amazing harvest, Becky!!
How blessed you are to spend time with your dad making a memory together. Enjoy these times, they go by quickly.
You have a lovely Mom but your Dad reminds me of my Pop and I miss him SO MUCH! Enjoy them and I know that you do.❤
Ah I just recently lost my dad and watching this reminds me of some of the projects we used to do together , treasure your time together.
My condolences, so sorry for your loss ❤
I'm so sorry. Rest gently...😢
What a blessing to live where you can have such wonderful Apple and Pear trees!
A Dad vlog? YES! He is such a character and I love seeing your family.
I was born and raised in Oregon and we had 25 acres of apple trees. You can wrap them in newspaper and put in cardboard boxes in a cool garage they will last until spring. We canned applesauce, pie filling, dehydrated, juiced apples and gifted the area w apples.
You Dad is such a solid guy. Great harvest on the second round of potatoes. Your garden is blessed. Great job!
It's so lovely how your dad & mom,are always there to help you on those labour intensive days,& share the joy of harvesting your own produce.💚
I love that your Dad comes over to help you. How nice to work side by side to do good things! He seems like a great guy. Enjoy him while you have him

This is the most beautiful apple harvest
So enjoyed you and your dad harvesting potatoes and apples ! 👏👏
That’s what us dads and grandpa’s like me are for. We know things and fix stuff. Always rely on our experience.
When I see your dad jumping in to help, it brings tears (of joy) to my eyes. That was my dad. He passed away 3 years ago and this video reminds me to appreciate how lucky I was!
Becky you need to twist the apples in your hand a little and then pull slowly down. This will be less damage to the branches.
What an amazing harvest season you're having!!
You are so blessed to have your Dad, he is such a great help as you know. My father has been gone over 20 years now and I still miss him everyday. The harvest was enormous...so happy for your family.
I love your dad's daily devotions! They helped me through an extremely difficult time this last fall and winter.
I love seeing your sweet dad helping you in the garden! So sweet!

New Gardner in Ohio: You are so Blessed to have parents who enjoy helping you in the Garden. I love seeing them.
Wonderful harvest and quality time with your dad. You could not ask for a better dad date. Becky you are precious!
Great video. Tip, I you turn thr Apple upside down and give a little twist when picking they come off the tree much easier with no damage to the tree

Didn't know about 😢sun burns in apples....
I was smiling through out the video as if I'm doing the harvest with my dad.. ❤❤❤
There are food banks that except harvest from growers. What a blessing that would be to families that have never had home grown fruits/vegetables 🙌.
I'm so happy to see your dad on your channel again! I enjoy seeing him and your mom helping you out in the garden. It makes my heart smile. 😊🤗

You need to provide it with extra water during the hot summer months.
Your dad is such a joy to watch, as he helps you in the garden...digging for "buried treasure". I also love his channel.
Maybe you could pick some of the damaged fruit and put them on the boundary of your property for the wildlife to eat, instead of it rotting on the trees.
If you pick up all the fallen apples and pears (chicken feed?), the wasp problem will lessen. Great harvest! Thanks for sharing.
I've read that apples are fine for chickens...just not the seeds. Is that true?
Apple seeds do contain just the tiniest amount of cyanide, the chickens would have to eat a huge truckload of seeds every day to even start feeling sick. In short, no problem even for humans if you accidentally swallow a seed.
How awesome that you have your parents close by to help.

If you turn off the water one week before harvest, your potatoes will be easier to dig and will be dryer.
I wish my parents lived close I know my dad would be helping me on my yard and garden. He loves this stuff. Mom would help with cooking the food
My mom would just cut the bad part off and use the other half of a piece of fruit
I think what I love the most is how genuinely delighted you are to reap the fruits - and tubers - of your labours. Congratulations on a successful harvest.

What a huge blessing to have your dad’s help and your harvest!!
You can still eat the sunburned apple.
How helpful your parents are and they always exude the joy and love of Christ!
Will you rake the ground to move the downed apples to a star outside the fence for the deer to enjoy?
Also, will you at the proper time top the fruit trees to make harvesting next season more manageable ? No ladder climbing.
