It's crazy. This is the only place I could get some clue as to how to replace that wire pin behind the manual switch. Once you remove that manual switch, that metal wire just barely shown pops out. I did not know how to get it back in. After some trial and error I finally got it, thanks to this video. Even though you don't discuss it particularly. Many thanks!
I really appreciated your video, learned how it works, and found the same issue with the worn out part. I have replaced the Intermatic timer with a digital timer for $12.
Excellent informative presentation. Could not determine why the the pool would not turn off and viewing this presentation solved the mystery. Have ordered a new T104 switch. Thank you.
You CAN fix this problem (and without replacement parts). If your lever switch looks worn (as in the video - and it was on mine), notice that the wear is only on the 'front side' (toward the camera). The little protrusion of the 'ON' pin is 'slipping off' the front of the lever switch. Take the 'ON' pin, and identify the leg with the special protrusion. Now take that leg (and ONLY that leg) and bend it 'down' (away from the thumb screw) about 1/8 to 1/4 inch. Now the protrusion will extend far enough to engage what is 'left of' the lever switch (don't bend it too far or it will also hit the gears). Note: If you aren't comfortable making 'warranty-voiding modifications', don't do this. The bent pin worked for me. It took two minutes, and the timer should last a few more years...
I did exactly what you said to do and I heard it turn on this morning! With this video and your fix I hope to get a couple more years before I have to get a new one. Thanks so much!!🥰
Thank you thank you!!! It worked for me too. I was going out of town, had bought a new "pin" thinking that was the issue, no go. Thought about just leaving the pool pump on for 24/7, but $$. This worked like a charm!
Thank you for this video. I had the exact same issue with the T104 model for my pool. Will replace with a new one from Home Depot as there is not a way to repair the worn down metal piece.
this is the ONLY video that solved my problem! the screw on the front dial of mine was a small torx (don't know the number) but once off there was the problem!!! TY! TY! TY! TY!
This doesn’t explain why your pool timer would turn off at all.. unless if you are saying you manually turned the switch “on” at what would be 10 minutes before your off timer was set. This video explains why one of your pins (in this case, the on pin) would not be able to engage the switch because the lever mechanism that the pin touches is no longer there…
T101 10 years, and now worn out. Looked at a lot of fix videos, but this is the only one I found with the right diagnosis. I like how it abruptly ends - basically saying, get a new timer. Are the newer models designed differently to prevent this?
It could be in your case, the other end is bad, in my case, the lever upper side is bad, yours could be the lower side,. If none of that, check the 2 little triggers ,
Waste of time for me watching this as you have no solution. You either need the part that's broken (which you can't find), or just replace the whole dang timer.
I think he is explaining why the timer switch is not working! Other videos show the other common problems. Some people would like to understand the problem. Some things can be fixed and some times they can't. Now you know!
Lol this video is ironically provided to prevent the possible waste of time. Some people are spending money and time troubleshooting and replacing pins when the issue does not reside with the pins.. it’s the part the pins interact with.. would you rather the video just say “replace your timer?” … I’d be curious what your comment would be on a video that does only that

I cannot tell you how helpful this video was, really helped me understand the mechanics of this timer😊
No B.S. on and on. Straight to the point! Saved me much time. Thank You!
Could not figure out what exactly was wrong until I watched your video. Thank you so much!
your clip should be on the top of list for diagnoses of pool timers. Thank you

Great video Arnold, great clarity on the visual and you just answered every question I had about the timer!
Bro, great video thank you for this video. I searched everywhere to see what was wrong with mine and I couldn’t find any video
You were right on the money. Thanks for saving me time.
Cheers! More detail inside and no frills, GREAT VIDEO!!!
Thank you. Same here. I just hesitated to take it that far apart. I'll be doing that this week.

Great detailed video - thank you. now I know what the problem is.
Thought that might be my problem and now I know it is ------ thank you so much !!
That was a great video! Now I understand why my pool pump turns OFF after like 10mins ‘coz of that worn out metal...

Thank you man this is exactly what was happening to my security lights.
Finally an answer to my problem. Thank you!
gonna check it out excellent video Arnold thanks you
Man that’s just my problem. Thank you

Very helpful, thank you very much sir!!!
My "On" clamp was crooked and jamming the gear preventing it from turning - see you take the dial off helped - thanks
Great info.
Thanks.
How do you fix the timer arm getting stuck on the tripper and not turning the pump on?
thanks for the knowledge.
Man that’s just my problem thank you
I cant get the gear off to test it
must be corroded locked in the shaft. try some WD40 or similar
My question is if I'm turning it off and on manually then it gets jammed as I try n turn it back on...why would it get stuck

One of my pins was bent I’ll place it back and then see if it works thanks.
thx u
My exact problem and this was only video to explain it! Except there’s no fix?
Has anyone found a replacement part? Or do I need to buy a whole new timer?
unfortunately I did not find, i dont know other people....
@@fly4fun24 I was actually able to just replace the whole timer for $55 from Amazon. Very easy. Only took 5 minutes
That is my problem. I will try a bit of JB Weld to build up the worn out part.
@@andrewoneill5003 I have this problem too. Just wondering whether the JB Weld worked?
