I'd never heard this well-known piece played on the organ but I really like this arrangement.

Our Maestro never disappoints!!! I didn't expect this piece played on the organ. Nice 1st class arrangement.
Thanks for so many great moments during your concerts in Germany. Greetings to you both and good luck at Proms on Saturday.❤

I had actually completely eliminated this piece from my repertoire since my piano lessons (5 decades ago). But now that I've heard and seen Jonathan's unique performance here, I think I'll play Beethoven's Elise again soon. Brilliant!

Ah, the A Minor Bagatelle! It comes complete with a mystery: who was Elise? There are theories; we will likely never know who the Lady was.
Jonathan's beautiful transcription is a perfect encore to what must have been a spectacular concert: a familiar piece, yet fresh and unexpected in an arrangement both true to the spirit of the original and idiomatic to the pipe organ! Brilliantly played and just beautiful!
As usual, Dr. Tom provided the best visuals and sound: a joy for the eyes and ears!
Whoever Elise was, thanks to the Brothers Scott, Herr Beethoven's mystery Lady received a tribute worthy of a queen!

    • @Fragrance8331
      @Fragrance8331 21 день назад

      I know who Elise is.
Elise was a mistranslation for für Elise and was actually supposed to be Theresa. Theresa was one of Beethoven's students and so Beethoven decided to create a song that she can play. Beethoven had a massive crush on Theresa but Theresa was married already so in anger Beethoven made the middle and that other part so she couldn't play it

Thank you so much for the relief from looking at torrential rain/thunderstorms and really gusty winds. We are in the midst of a tropical storm that likes the Carolinas so much she has decided to camp just offshore. Her forward progress is slower than this 73 year old with two hip replacements can walk. Hopefully she will be out of here by the weekend. This performance has been a real respite from the bad weather and I truly appreciate your sharing!

Im closing on 60 and have had two hip joints installed. Its getting routine not to have any medicine at all when they bolt them on these days. Nothing.
The organ music is very well done. However the place is getting empty and hardly any young folks around.
I hate to have the thought in a generation this place will be quiet again. I hope there are many Scotts who will carry this forward.

Love how the decay or almost vibrer comes through on the pedal notes. Don't know if that's the instrument or acoustics or both coming through on the recording but is wonderful feeling into the music unique to it being played on the organ. Thanks Jonathan & Tom

Here's an idea: a Moonlit Concert, if Jonathan has at some point time to prepare it, with Dr. Tom at the piano:
"Casta Diva" from Bellini's opera "Norma"
"Měsicku na nebi hlubokěm" from Rimsky-Korsakow's "Rusalka"
Jonathan's arrangement of "Claire de Lune"
Beethoven's Sonata Quasi Una Fantasia, the "Moonlight Sonata"
There are other works as well, I am sure.
Organ and piano for all of these would be heavenly!😊

I truly enjoy your videos. My comment is that you seem to following the trend with so many organists. I find the tempo of the tunes getting faster and faster as time flows. This video I believed demonstrated playing the piece slightly faster than intended to show off your skills at the manual.

Very nice! Just like Alfred Brendl, you give the piece its time. Unfortunately, many just want to show how virtuoso they are, and play it at a crazy tempo.

It’s so beautiful and traditional it’s not modern for falcon. Those times it was fantastic modern music. I love to mix the modern music with today’s music and innovation so we can move forward in music. However, I do appreciate this kind of music since I started classically I do think the modern music is amazing but not commercial music no.

The arrangement and performance - of course! Wonderful. Still, to me 'Fur Elise' is intimate and meditative - almost wistful - and really needs the smaller sound scale of a piano. According to my ear, anyhow. Your ear may hear different!
