This absolutely works!! I do this every day with the Maybelline lash sensational in waterproof because it's a thin formula that lightly coats the lashes. Follow up with whatever regular mascara you like. Amazing even on my short, straight lashes!!
Heather Carter do you know the reason to switch to regular mascara for the second coat?
Flawed and Beautiful personally, I do it because it's easier to remove than using all waterproof. And I get better volume from regular mascara...it seems to build up better for me.

If you heat it up with a hair dryer, then all you'll need is 10 seconds. Once. Then apply the waterproof to the base of the lashes and the regular mascara to the rest. Voilá! I am so used to it now, that I get irritated if my lashes aren't curled 'properly'. It makes such a difference. They look so beautiful all day long!! I, now prefer not to spend time on much eye shadow but do this step properly instead. Worth it! x

i do exactly the same. I find that curling the wand gives my eyelashes a much better holding curl. And in combination with the waterproof mascara its brilliant. dont even need eyeshadow with my everyday makeup anymore. p.s. the lancome doll eyes waterproof mascara works best for me.
He does say some funny things in his videos I like watching him because the way he pronounces some of the words he uses. And I do like and have tried some of his tips!

Hi this comment has nothing to do with what ur doing right now. I've only started looking at u tube a few days ago!! I'm 52. Look 42. I have very good skin. Spent my life covering it up thinking I was ugly as sin. But thankfully I'm starting to see myself as others do. I know every manner of applying makeup but what I want now is the barest of makeup but it needs to hold up for the day. Can you do something like that. Ps I love ur honesty and straight forwardness 😊
I do this, but I reverse the waterproof and regular. My eyelids are sooo oily !

D Lish waterproof mascara definitely makes a huge difference! Without it my lashes won't hold a curl at all

Try L’Oréal Paradise lash mascara. It’s not waterproof but it has the same dry formulation so it doesn’t weigh down the curl and it gives such gorgeous feathery volumous lashes!

I actually use the L'Oreal Lash Paradise in the waterproof, haven't tried the regular formula though. Even if I didn't care about holding a curl I would still use the waterproof for it's staying power
I'm a server & it's the only mascara that literally doesn't budge at all even after a 12 hour shift running around sweating. And it easily comes off with coconut oil or waterproof micellar water

Yessss! I use a lighter. Because we use a hot curling iron for our hair, same thing for eyelashes!!
I have tried the following for special occasions; I heat my lash curler with a blow dryer, I test it on my hand so it's not to hot, then I appy mascara. While it is still wet I hit it again with the blow dryer but on cold burst, just like on my hair.
It takes a little extra time but when I do this they I don't need false lashes and they stay curled!
Just like how hot tools are damaging to your hair, a heated lash curler is damaging to eyelashes.

I do this every day, with one addition.....before I curl for the second time, I put a slight dusting of loose powder over the waterproof mascara, that way my lashes won't stick to the curler and pull out. When my lashes grew back after chemo they fall out super easy, just rubbing my eyes I will have 3 to 5 lashes on my cheeks! As always, luv ur videos, you are brilliant! 😚💖

Estee Lauder makes The. Best. Eye makeup remover on the planet. It's in a blue bottle.
Nutrogena has a dupe that works great at $5.79 for 5.5 oz. So does the Equate (Walmart) brand - $3.87 for 5.5 oz. I use both of these brands even on waterproof mascara - just put it on a cotton pad and hold it over your eye for awhile. I started many years ago with Lancome - the price has gone from $10 dollars to $30 for 4.2 oz.! TOTAL RIP-OFF! P.S. They are ALL in blue bottles because the Lancome original comes in a blue bottle. Lancome used to have a top that had a small hole. Then, hoping you'd spill more than you need, they changed tops and just had a screw-on top, which, when you took it off, left a gaping hole that would pour out all over the place! It's really disheartening to realize what lengths companies will go to in order to sell more...
Yes I've noticed since using waterproof mascara my eyelashes stay curled for longer, and mine are very straight. I have to use waterproof as my eyes water a lot.

OMG I have such straight eyelashes that won't stay curled. I have tried every trick that has been shared by many beauty influencers on RUclips but nothing has worked until I tried your idea. WOW it worked like a charm! THANKS!!

I wish I could get mascara to work but I can't even get my lashes to curl with a curler. My eyes are so hooded that I can't get all my lashes into the curler. I tried one of those smaller half size curlers too but that didn't work either. It's especially hard in the outer corners of my eyes where my lashes really grow straight down and almost into my eye itself. I end up never wearing mascara because it weighs down my lashes even more and highlight the fact that they are growing downwards like the 'teeth' on a Venus Fly Trap. What makes it even worse is having dry eye and having to use prescription drops every two hours every single day. Instant raccoon eyes!
Wayne, I have the same problem you do with straight lashes that grow down. I have been using MAYBELINE waterproof mascara's since I realized 2 COATS OF MAYBELINE WATERPROOF was the ONLY thing that worked to keep a curl!!! I have about 15 years on you. trust me when I tell you it's no big secret, and expensive mascara's don't work (ALL OF THOSE "CONDITIONERS" STRAIGHTEN THEM OUT DIRECTLY)...it only takes a little oil on a cotton ball to remove it, and unlike regular mascara, it is not overly drying out the lashes...some I just give a quick shot with the hairdryer to speed things up...if you use a heated curler (carefully) then you REALLY will be surprised.....I tried EVERY TRICK THERE IS!

This works! I use the IT Tightline - QVC - TWO for $30 + 3.00 S&H. However, this much curling really messes up my eyeliner. I usually apply eyeliner AFTER and it's really a clumsy thing to try to do. HELP!

Good tip. Have to say L'Oréal Voluminous Telescopic is my favorite to use first, It get's right down into the root of the lashes.After it dries come back with the second coat as our man, Mr. Goss does with the L'Oréal Voluminous in Carbon Black. Fabulous lashes that look great all day.

I just use a water proof mascara and that works for me. Normal mascara never hold the curl. Thanks for the video

I've never been one to make a lot of comments on your videos...didn't want to be aggravating....but I learned a bit ago that receiving comments was positive for a RUclipsr's channel. I'm really not into social media, but love the RUclips venue....and I just want to tell you that I have received more awesome tricks from you than I could have ever expected to learn from one person. I have this. I blow dry the wand. Curl for 25. Repeat 2xs so 3 curls each eye. And bam !! I heat it tho. I also (don’t hate me) use a safety pin to separate them. Ha. Thanks Wayne

Great video! ☺️ Why is everyone so obsessed with the Maybelline Voluminous mascara? I bought it last week, tried it a couple of times and was disappointed as throughout the day it transferred to both my lid and the skin below my eyes. This never happened to me with any other mascara (not counting when I was crying) and I had primed and set my eyes.. yet a lot of youtubers seem to love it

Thanks for the tip! I roughly follow a similar routine (but two coatings of same mascara) after many trial and error with my stick-straight lashes. But typically I leave mascara application to the last minute so I tend to skip the 30 seconds clamp down :)....it's no wonder that my lashes uncurl shortly after.

Thanks Wayne. It Worked!!!!!! I am Asian, so my lashes are really straight and flat and thick. I usually steer away from mascara because my lashes drooled and it smeared my face in a few hours. But after trying your tip. My lashes stay UP. Thanks!
I don't understand -I have used an eyelash curler for 40 years(!!) and have never had them lose the curl. I currently use the Shu Uemura curler. I use many different types of mascara, but have never had this happen. I use your method of curling.

Hi Wayne! This is exactly how I apply my mascara, but the trick I use is it warm up my eyelash curlers first to get an amazing curl, then apply waterproof mascara above and below lashes. Best technique, I get so many comments on my lashes!

You are so darn cute! I've never worn makeup .. occasional mascara but...I have freckles so never found stuff to work well. I'm now 58 an my eye brows are fading an ya know old age stuff so I'm just now learning how to do eye brows an eye lashes...omg they are turning white. Wayne, will this technique work using a lash primer instead of waterproof mascara?
My lashes are very long but so heavy that are straight down. I use the eyelash curler before eyeshadow (just like Charlotte Tilbury) and I put my hand up a little bit while is curling for a second just to give an extra curve. Then after eyeshadow I put mascara (I found out that even the worst works on my lashes with this technique on me) and I'm perfect
I only use waterproof mascara because my lashes don’t like to stay curled. Because t it is SO hard to remove! So I am going to try this tip and hopefully I can get the same results and it not be AS hard to remove in the end... fingers crossed 🤞 thanks!!!

Wanna know what else works (because I do it every day)? Heat the eyelash curler with your blow dryer for about 7 seconds then curl. Your eyelashes will stay curled all. day. long. Always check the curler before applying to make sure it's not too hot (you won't be able to use it if it is anyway because of natural reflexes).
Can you apply waterproof mascara for the second coat? I have a hard time with flaking and transfer if I don't use waterproof. I have oily and/or sweaty eyelids but dry skin.
Is there any reason we would or would not use a waterproof mascara instead of the regular mascara in this routine? Would it still keep the curl if it was waterproof on waterproof? As in using the same mascara. I do understand that the base needs to be waterproof. I'm hoping you can answer. I recently had a daughter bride who had me in tears of happiness, love and joy but was thinking that not using waterproof in both the base and top coat of mascara would've been a teary black undereye mess. Also for swimming? Swimming pool splashes? I guess if I get no answer I can experiment. Hoping someone knows. Might be better to go without mascara in some cases but my lashes are so short. I'd love to always have lashes, rain or shine. Swimming as well as being splashed. P.S. I definitely rub my eyes a lot in chlorine water too.

Wow what a difference, you see it all the more with only one eye done. I can only wear waterproof mascara, would this still be ok. If I wear normal mascara it ends up all under my eyes. I’ve been like this all my life and I’ll be 60 this year. Any idea why I this would happen please?

good tip. I curl, apply mascara then I have a paper towel or tissue and I fold it in half and spay it with hair spray, put my index fingers from both hands under it and push it up so it pushes up my lashes and I count to 30. pull away the paper towel/tissue and done. It is like curling your hair and setting it with hair spray. AND no i don't get it it in my eye or anything

My thing is when I curl my lashes they curl but it looks like it starts at the root of my lash then goes straight up. I do move the eyelash curler but I feel like I have to move down half of my lash or it will do this. Any advice on this please let me know. 😚
Japanese plastic eyelash curlers are amazing. No mascara, my lashes can be curly all day
