- Turn up the volume and find out if hydroponic carrots can be grown with the Kratky method.
Details of the grow:
4 bulb 4 ft T5 Milliard grow light 216 watts 6500k
14 hours on 10 off
Nutrients
1 gallon water
2 grams MasterBlend Tomato 4-18-38
2 grams Calcium Nitrate 15.5-0-0
1 gram Epsom Salt (Magnesium Sulfate)
3 Gallon Tote was topped off with fresh water or nutrient solution based on color of new growth (light green = nutrient, dark green = water)
This is the place where we get to have fun growing the plants and trying new things!

Hmmm could be surprisingly difficult. Somehow I doubt it though.

Hi Jeb, could be worth trying a mesh type set garlic on top of the mesh, supported some how, i have been thinking on it, but have not come up with a support for cloves . keep up the goodly work ;).

They grow much easier outdoors in soil, but watch out for nematodes and carrot fly!

I've always wondered if it were possible to grow root crops using Kratky method. Though perhaps not optimal it definitely is possible and you made your video very entertaining while I learned something new. GREAT JOB!!

Jeb Gardener that would be great, I'd love to do basil and know what the mixture is. These are interesting, I had never heard of the Kratky method.
I did basil with the same mixture. Grows great in a quart jar!

Inspirational! I have only been growing large amounts of Butter Crunch and Romaine. Now that you showed me it works I am going to try it. Funny thing is you only harvested like 8 carrots in 60+ days. LOL! I bet they were awesome tho. Thanks Jeb!

How interesting that I began watching your fun and informative Kratky video while my own stereo was playing a movement in the background. Now to see how well your radishes did: Dies Irae, perhaps? :)

Yes you can use shop lights or daylight bulbs from the grocery store too
