  • Jeb would like to show you how to grow your own hydroponic cilantro or coriander. This one is indoor and Kratky style to hopefully avoid bolting.

      I just love listening to your narration and sometimes worry when you say things like : it looks delicious. You sound like a giant going to kill a helpless person. There are many moments like that and I think I am listening to a story of a giant.

    This growing method seems so advanced yet dirt-cheap easy at the same time. My brain is having a gigantic mindgasm from this.
    This growing technique seems nearly revolutionary. It should be used much more often and be known by more people.

      Yeah it's called the Kratky method, named after a professor from Hawaii.

      @Easy Peasy technically, the method has nothing to do with growing local, but the kratky method takes out all the difficulty of hydroponics no pumps no flood and drain timers. The rockwool is terrible for you though, so dont harvest too close to the cube, but its also a great inert media

    Since I have such a problem getting calm and meditating this is the ultimate alternative for me, I discovered Jeb Gardener just a week ago and have already watched this one 3 times. Love the music and his humoristic aspect.

    If you love the flavor of cilantro there is another plant that tastes exactly like cilantro just a much stronger cilantro flavor. It's called culantro or shado beni Many West Indians mince into a savory seasoning blend along with garlic, onion, spring onions and whatever else suits the taste. Just thought to share that little tidbit with a fellow cilantro lover.😆

      My grandmother planted some culantro in our backyard and it became a pretty invasive weed. I became a seasoned mower. Lol

      I'll have to try that. I guess you can just wash off the nutrients and cook em up? Do you dice them finely?

    Now this is an informative video with a variety. Usually when others dish up their's with electronic/dj music, and bad narration, this felt like a breath of fresh air. With a creepy undertone that's going to stick in back of the head for a while to come. :D

      @@JebGardener have you thought about doing an into to indoor hydroponics for those who are getting enthused by your channel? Like why you chose rockwool vs coco coir, what not to grow if you can't transplant, when to take stuff out if there's too much growing, etc.. I have a black thumb and things are growing and now I'm scared to touch it!

      Yeah I think the proper name for the whole plant is coriander but most people call it cilantro here.

    I wish I could taste cilantro the way everyone else tastes it. To me, it tastes like soap. Apparently its a genetic thing.

      MNDA, it's genetic you're right. If you have done a DNA test at any of the companies, myheritage, ancestry, FTDNA, 23 and me, etc. You can find out if you've got the gene for that. I don't have it & apparently my genetic relatives are 11% less likely to taste soap... Who knew? (Can you not eat Indian or Mexican food?)

      Green algae needs light for energy to grow, paint can block that

      @@EvilPineappl so glass wouldn't be the way to go? I put them in glass cups and then cut an X in the top of these empty leftover cardboard tea canisters from Yaupon brothers (it's the tea/ plant native to the US) and put the glass inside. So it's growing out of the x/hole in the lid - they are the plug things with plastic from aerogarden's grow anything kit so they fit snug in the X. They're really decorative, but I was going to buy mason jars as shown in his videos.. but are you saying it's better to drink more tea to have leftover containers? 😉

      Hard to say, Jeb's jars did end up with some algae growth but it didn't seem to matter.
      You could always put some of your plants in jars and leave some in the tea containers, then you can find out which works better for you.

    I have a little imitation of your artistry going on down here in San Diego. I got two coriander seeds started in one rockwool, made a little slit down the side, removed secondary sprout, and put in another rockwool that I similarly slit down the side. So proud of all my babies. Thanks for the awesome videos.
