Very helpful, thanks. Yea, going full time straight from college took me a lot longer than 4 months to get used to. Ten years later of full time CAD and graphic design and i'm ready to transition to free lance work simply due to my cap in pay and un flexible schedule. If you have any advice on making the switch to a substantial free lance, that would be helpful. I run a side business selling products online but have never been able to make the full leap from employed to free lance. I've dabbled in free lance before and I believe your points on boundaries is really important. My first few clients either didn't pay, made constant changes and additions, or were very easy to please. With my fishing company I have 4+ ways to contact me. I think that is very important to only accept enquiries from a contact form or email as you mentioned since responding to so many different sources can get silly. Thanks again for all the help.
I love hearing stories like this! I'm so glad you resonated with my experiences too. When I first started freelancing, I managed to secure a 3 month fixed retainer package (20 hours) with an advertising agency. This helped get my feet off the ground. Also posting on RUclips has helped me find a lot of international clients. Posting your work for potential clients to see is so important.
Omg this as helped me so much! To be able to find this video & advice in the beginning of college made me just figure out my life, my goals have been lined up and straighten for a great success for my family. thank you.
@@HanSelah if I wanted to try to sell a painting, would it be possible to try to sell yours ? I wouldn't like anything I just want to try to get into the habit of marketing artists. Please lmk 🥺🙏
So, would you say that for an aspiring graphic designer, the logical step would be to first work in an agency to learn the craft and the small details that they don't teach in school and after that to start their own freelance business? I suppose freelancing is not for everyone, especially the looking for your own clients part, but I could see how this will become the next "employment" for creatives and programmers in the next few years.
In my personal opinion, an internship or a role in an agency (even if it’s for 6 months) really benefits you in your career 😃 Personally, it makes the transition into freelance much easier as you are more informed in all aspects of running your own business/agency
Thanks for your support! 😃 I get a lot of my clients from RUclips and directly via my website. I have also had a few clients from LinkedIn and TikTok. A few years ago, most of my clients came from Instagram but now it is more varied
@@HanSelah Appreciate you being transparent and sharing👌. Been getting mine through Instagram too but I'm now looking into ways I can use other platforms

Thank you so much for this! Very insightful, great video!❤
How would one go about pricing, if you don't mind sharing?

Hi HanSelah,
Great video!
