    I wish reviewers would look at this wheel purely from a PlayStation point of view. I’ve been using a G29 for many years and I can’t wait to get my T598 and I want to thank Thrustmaster for answering all our prayers. There are thousands of wheel options for PC users, well not literally, but this wheel is for us lowly PlayStation users whom you PC people tend to look down on. Not everyone can afford an expensive PC and graphics card. If anyone out there knows of a review written specifically for the PlayStation please let me know. Thank you.

    As a Playstation user, this wheel is a pretty serious consideration, but probably more as a standalone release. A different wheel (or converting a current T300 wheel quick release) and using 3DRap’s pedals I think would be a pretty killer console setup. (But please Moza release something PS compatible first so I have something to think about)

  • @D3Vlicious
    @D3Vlicious 2 месяца назад +8

    It's a direct drive that uses an axial electric motor and not a more usual radial flux. The difference has to do with how the magnetic fields used in the motor are orientated. These kinds of motors are lighter and provide more power for their size and is the reason why auto manufacturers are switching to it for EVs. Sadly, as you mentioned, the design of axial motors means that the base is going to be that huge, sizing it down isn't as simple as they'd need to use a smaller motor, which would reduce the torque it puts out.

    I bought one and I have no problem with the shape of the base. In fact it is surprisingly heavy for it's size. The actual width and height of the wheel base is narrower the the Logitech G Pro. The Fanatec DD Pro is a little smaller in height and width but of course twice as deep and I would guestimate slightly lighter

    If you live somewhere where Fanatec doesn't have distribution, you're basically left without ANY other option than Thrustmaster. Moza doesn't do consoles, and Fanatec products break a lot and sending it OUT OF THE COUNTRY to have it fixed means you're gonna sit around twiddling your thumbs for 2-3 months without a wheel. If you live in scandinavia or south america or anywhere that isn't Germany or the US (maybe the UK?) there's no way you'd buy a fanatec setup more than once, cause when something breaks, it's just an absolute RMA nightmare. The only way I'd get a fanatec setup is if I had the money to buy two of everything and then just throw stuff in the trash as it breaks. I do not have that kinda money, and neither does 99% of people who buy wheels.
    And, as I said, Moza doesn't make stuff for playstation, AND the Logitech G-Pro setup is dumb. So expensive and the ecosystem is so tiny because no one bought that thing. Many people thought Logi had abandoned the whole thing until this year when they showed off a handful of little addons, none of which appealed to me at all. They released a SECOND round wheel.......... I guess that's what people wanted, a new wheel that's slightly rounder... And the handbrake/sequential looks like trash compared to the Thrustmaster handbrake/sequental, and there's no H pattern shifter after like 2-3 years of the GPro being out.. Look at the stuff MOZA has released in that same time. They have a fricken truck wheel and everything now. It's crazy how much they're putting out there compared to everyone else.. But again, that shit don't work on PS5, which is a damn shame.
    At this point in time, there's not a lot of options for people living outside of Fanatec importing nations for consoles. People who would get a base level Fanatec or Moza setup will not pay 2x for a gpro... And they absolutely shouldn't, cause the H shifter is probably not coming out at all, and if it does, it's going to be around 2026....
    This wheel is comparable in price with the T300... It works like it's supposed to, and it's got access to the awesome Thrustmaster ecosystem, which is vast and you'll find addons that will suit you, plus you can just go back to the store if it breaks rather than having to deal with the manufacturer personally. These are its strengths.
    These things will sell an immense amount. Makes everything else seem like overpriced shit. Once the base comes out in a separate version for like 350 or whatever, it's going to sell way faster than they can make them.
    I've had tons of thrustmaster gear throughout the years, and for some reason TM gets maligned by the racing community even though this stuff is ROCK SOLID. No idea where the disdain for this brand comes from. Had the Cougar and the Warthog, awesome HOTASes. Had all sorts of wh TM wheels way back in the 90s and early 2000s, before the G25 came out. All of them rock solid.
    People need to stop comparing TM stuff with hardware that's 3x the price. No one reviews the G300 and pits it up against the 21nm Simcube.. But TM always gets pitted up against stuff that's waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay out of the price range TM operates. It's weird.

    I swear, sim companies tend to make their rim wheels disgusting just so shat one buys the bundle with a different rim wheel and to pay extra - but also, this one seems like a quite nice successor to previous thrustmaster wheels imho, like once again it is probably not considered a "pro gear" but a step-up from what a "newbie gear" might be.

    The wheelbase uses a design similar to a stepper motor, which should be cheaper with better NM, but if made poorly, you could feel the steps in the motor. If they made it right, it could lead to more cheap DD high torque wheelbases.

      No one should be playing on a screen now anyways. You can get a VR headset used for like nothing at this point, and it makes screens seem like ancient tech from the 70s.
      Haven't played shooters or racing or flight sims outside of VR since like 2016. For VR, this base is totally fine. In 5 years time, not many people will still be racing on screens. It's just vastly inferior.

    Good review. I agree with you that this bundle would only make sense for playstation users because the Moza R5 and Fanatec CSL DD offer a better package. Granted, this wheel will be easier to obtain because it'll be sold at Best Buy in the US which means that you won't have to go to Micro Center or buy it online if that isn't convenient for you.

    You talked about who’s this bundle made for, and I have a question, I race primarily on PC ACC and maybe may go down PS4/5 for GT7, I’m going from a $160 PXN V900, and Moza R5 Bundle was one of the top picks. However, with this coming out, I’m split on what to choose. What would you guys recommend?

    • @whipdan674
      @whipdan674 2 месяца назад

      Moza products aren't Sony compatible.
      If you wanna play GT7 this is going to be the cheapest DD option, if you go Fanatec it's 200$ more.
      If you play PC only then you can get whatever starter DD bundle including MOZA, they are all pretty much the same and my guess is ppl mostly choose between them based on looks.

    Heads up to anyone buying a T598 for playing ACC on PS5!
    Boosted Media did an amazing review on this product, and he said it worked great on most titles, but it was absolutely terrible for ACC on PS5 which is the only reason I wanted one to begin with.
    Boosted said the T598s' force feedback in ACC was "completely broken" and since ACC is no longer under rigorous development, the FFB may not get fixed anytime soon, if ever. That's a shame because I'm sure most PS5 Sim racers who buy this wheel will be planning on playing ACC specifically like me.
    If you happen to have a T598 and are playing ACC on PS5, please let me know if it's been fixed or how it's feeling currently! It would be much appreciated!
