That's incredibly sad. She wanted to give her dogs the loving care she did every day, which included a morning walk. My heart is breaking for all three of them, as well as for her daughter, and all who loved her.
Lightning rods placed on the tallest buildings in the area. I've read they could also be placed in trees. My grandparents stuck an axe in the ground so that the lightning could strike the axe and not the house. But those were tougher times. Talk to your authorities to find solutions. Sadness won't solve anything!
It’s sad asf but I can’t be fully sympathetic when you decided to walk In the middle of a massive thunderstorm. Could’ve waited for it to pass like a normal person then take the dogs out, but that decision cost her life. So sad
@@Jpgaps it could have started while she was walking

When my dad was young he witnessed a guy get struck and killed by lightning when he went to go under a tree for shelter in the storm. I grew up with my dad teaching us to always take storms and lightening seriously. Of course, never seek shelter under a tree either!
I cannot echo this advice enough. When I started at a university many years ago, a student died in the first week for this exact reason. Terrifying!
Where instead?
@@natalieferrer9605 Um.. your house?
@@natalieferrer9605 If you can't get indoors or a car (avoid touching the sides/roof/floor/steering wheel), find the lowest point of ground, and crouch down. Avoid metal, water, trees. Lightning seeks the higher points.
No, you SHOULD always seek shelter under trees if theres no building. The idea that trees are more unsafe in a lightning storm is a very harmful myth! The most dangerous place to be is out in the open, because you’re the tallest thing the lightning can be attracted to, when you’re under a tree, you’re no longer a target but the tree is. And no if the tree gets hit it won’t impact you, as long as you’re not in a puddle that gets hit with bare feet, or touching metal that gets hit.
As a former housekeeper, I pay my respects. May she and her two dogs rest in peace.

Okay, I'll admit that I'm one of those that didn’t take lightning strikes seriously. I would often not take heed to the weather alerts urging residents to stay inside & would venture out no matter how bad storms & flashes of light were present. I will now take this seriously. So sorry this happened to this woman & her two little doggies. 😢
I have a childhood/longtime friend who thinks or thought like you in relation to lightning strikes. He always chuckles at me when I'll quickly make my way indoors as soon as I see lightning. I recall he, I and several other friends took a trip to a beach here on the east coast and the sky was being lit up with frequent sky-to-ground lightning. I'm talking about "spider lightning." It was beautiful to see, particularly being this storm was occurring at night, but nothing in which I wanted to be outdoors. Well, I hightailed it indoors by taking off running. He got a good chuckle out of me and claimed I was "scary" and my "chances of getting hit by lightning was very slim." I told him as I've told him numerous of other times that my odds (and his) are slim, but why chance those odds by taking things lightly and getting struck by lightning. I went on to say that's not something in which you want to risk your limited odds.
I've always respected Mother Nature. It can be quite beautiful, but also extremely dangerous.
God makes no mistakes. Apparently, she went against the most high and disregarded his instructions.
Same.this is classic case of "that would never happen to me"..until it does.
snowblo1: I always thought u had a better chance of hitting the lottery than getting struck. I knew someone who stood outside holding a metal pipe in the air during a bad lightening storm yelling at God to strike him. I still don’t take the risk tho.
Had a near miss the heat is intense
This interview is a great example of why people shouldn’t judge someone smiling after hearing terrible news, it’s a very human reaction that some people have and it’s not an indication of anything bad. Some people laugh or smile when they’re uncomfortable with what they’re talking about. I definitely have noticed myself doing it in uncomfortable situations. I feel for her, lost a homie.

@@KS-lb1tu You do realise that you’re 200 times more likely to be killed by a car whilst crossing the street than to get hit and killed by a lightning strike? Therefore according to your logic, you’re saying that people who cross the street on foot aren’t using common sense?
My cousin Matt was struck when he was 11. He spent the next 35 years in a chair, unable to do anything. He gurgled and snorted occasionally, but that was the extent of his "life." He just died a few months ago, and I've never been more relieved. I understand he was my aunt and uncle's kid, but I just couldn't understand allowing my own flesh and blood suffer like that for so many years. They should've pulled the plug soon after it happened.
*AGREED 100%*
Sometimes the toughest choice is the best choice.
I'm not for suicide and Dr's killing patients. But people put down injured horses and old dogs to end their suffering. I'm not comparing an animals life to a humans life but sometimes it's more cruel to prolong the suffering.
But then again I've heard stories of people waking up after 30 years of being in a coma. And then it comes down to who are we to judge who's life is worth living?
With that being said sorry about your cousin
@@sussybaca7256 Thank you very much. I completely agree with you. However, there were other circumstances that made that choice even harder. My aunt and uncle have lived through tragedy after tragedy. At 19, my uncle was drafted and sent to do literally unspeakable things in Vietnam. I have never heard him say one word about his time there in my 30 years. Then he fell in love and got married, but my aunt developed breast cancer. She beat that and they had two kids. Eleven mostly blissful years passed before my cousin was struck, so they had to deal with that on top of their own trauma. And with my cousin only being a little kid, I'm sure that played into their decision. My dad did tell me they either thought about or fully intended to allow him to die, but I can't recall why it didn't happen. But then to make matters worse, their only other child, my cousin Melissa, was murdered in a horrific collision in 2016 when a monster got fucked up on meth, muscle relaxers, and hard pain relievers and took a drive, running down a group of nine cyclists and killing five of them. So ending the life of their other child certainly wasn't in the books after that. But they still saw how miserable his existence was and prolonged it.
i’m sorry about your cousin dude! if you don’t mine my asking, do you know if he was at least aware of everything going on around him ? could he understand when ppl spoke to him, watch tv, etc.

We were the highest thing and ONLY thing on the water being that we were in our boat. I was also 4 months pregnant with my first child. I thought that we’d get struck for sure as we hurriedly went back to our campsite which seemed like it took FOREVER! It had gotten dark so we had to call out for our dogs. When we did they barked and we were able to find camp there in the desert easier. I’ve had PTSD when it comes to lightening ever since. I live directly on the Gulf of Mexico in SW Florida. We are the lightning capital of the world and endure tragedies like this all too often. I am often stunned and angry by the foolishness of tourists who think nothing of frolicking in the waves with their children as one of our incredibly fast moving storms roars in. People just don't bloody get it, and I've truthfully lost count of the number of occasions I've had to race into these storms to plead/ pull them off the beach. The worst are the ones who "poo-poo" my warnings, despite the black skies and flashing bolts directly overhead. Our last (local) lightning strike fatality was 3 years ago, and it's something I never hope to witness again. An "invincible" teen was boogie-boarding with friends one moment and dead the next. His two friends suffered irreversible physical and emotional damage, with both in cardiac arrest at the scene and one having to undergo a double amputation of his legs several weeks later. It's just NOT worth it, folks! If you HEAR thunder, STAY INSIDE. It's as simple as that.

the odds of getting hit by lightning is literally the unit by which we express how unlikely something is to happen. when its your time, its your time, there is nothing to do about it.
@@The1707regina The chances of getting struck by lightning are so low that’s it’s almost negligible, but still above zero. Most people don’t give much thought to walking out in storms around where I live because we have storms every day.
It doesn’t make someone irresponsible because they took a literal less than 1 in a million chance and got unlucky. Hell, you have a higher chance of dying in a car accident, but you still get in one of those every single day, right?
I can’t even imagine this and it absolutely breaks my soul. I often walk my dog when it’s raining or even if it’s lightly storming and never ever ever considered we could be struck by lightening like this.
My husband will never let me walk if it’s cloudy again. He’s paranoid enough and survived being struck by lightening twice. Neither time just being out walking though,
Twice! Damn.
🤯
Stop internalizing the problems of the world, your not Jesus Christ. We'll all be safe when we are driving vehicles the size of Wisconsin. Yeah. THAT'S the ticket.
God Bless Her and her two fur baby's. I lost a good friend that way 30 years ago back in Los Angeles. He was walking back from work when a lightning bolt struck near him. Some people nearby tried CPR but it was to late and he died.. He left behind a wife and a 7 month old son. Sad.
The news needs to STOP over-dramatizing these kinds of terrible accidents. The reporter makes it sounds like she has never heard lightning before using terms like 'war zone' and 'sheer terror', it's only lightning. This poor woman and her two dogs died and she is trying to instill fear into everyone as if the world was coming to an end. They teach us from a very young age to stay indoors during a lightnings storm, and this poor woman needed to walk her dogs and unfortunately she and her dogs paid the ultimate price, but to use her death as a way to wring every ounce of fear out of someone is just not right. It's very tragic and sad, but everyone who is not smart enough to stay indoors during a lightning storm, well, maybe now they will understand and this woman's death will then not be in vain. May her soul rest in peace.
That morning I took my dog out to do his business when then I saw the lighting. The thought of being struck by lightning crossed my mind so I went back inside. Looks like it wasn’t too bad when the women took her dogs out. Probably didn’t even know that lighting was looming. Feel bad for her and her precious companions. May her family and friends find peace.
I think that one of the doggies jerked back. Maybe he, or she was frightened by a lightning strike sound. If you watch her walking with her doggies on the camera footage, you will notice that the doggie on the left, jerked back.
Can it strike when there is no rain? It looked completely dry
@@riog6244 yes it can, it’s called dry lightning
Three nIghts ago I also witnessed dry lightning storming across the skies coming straight towards my house while I was in the backyard with my dogs. It looked like explosions or a war in the sky, I watched for a few minutes amazed by its power but then realized I was in danger of a lightning bolt reaching across the open air for miles just to strike me dead….Nope …. I had enough and went inside. I feel terrible for this woman’s death , but she is not suffering any longer and is at peace now with her two beloved doggos.
Completely rude thing to say. You saying you could of been struck too but your decision to go back inside saved you.
My condolences. There’s really nothing we can do in life as there’s literally million ways to die. That’s why I pray everyday and give thanks after a safe trip, coz anything can happen.
In this case, stay inside during a thunderstorm. Easy peasy.
Sh!t happened all the time..
@@Caseytify what about the millions of things that can kill you inside? How do you hide from a stroke or heart attack? You can’t control this shit, when it’s your time it’s your time
Amen 🙏
@@Caseytify the chances of getting struck by lightning are exponentially less than getting hit by a drunk driver or falling asleep at the wheel and dying. I’m sure it wasn’t pouring down and blowing wind and rain sideways. It was a thunderstorm and it was just her time. You can’t avoid when it’s your time. No matter how safe you think you are.
I was struck by lightning a few years back while using a gas trimmer on a dark cloudy afternoon. How I survived is still a puzzle to me. I recall hearing a loud blast like a high caliber gun going off next to my right ear. I was dazed and disoriented for a while but beyond that I was ok. My wife and son who were inside the house witnessed the event. Never again. If it's cloudy or raining, you won't ever see me outside. No sir.
whew; I'm stuck in a wheelchair..now you got me paranoid...
@@chicman77 Some say it just wasn't my time. I guess it wasn't.
RIP sweet lady and her dogs 😥🙏
This is a reminder that life is short and can change in the blink of an eye. Live each day to the fullest.

Exactly
RIP to this family of three, even though it’s said that you passed I hope your daughter can find peace knowing you likely passed instantly and painlessly. Many of us don’t know how we will leave this earth in our final moments but the people who lack empathy, ridicule or make fun of this women should hope their time will not be slow and painful.
I had to amputate my left arm after struck by lightning in Ho Chi Minh City.

Nice comment Rose. Seems there are a lot of heartless people in this world.

such a poor soul, my god. She’ll be in my prayers always ❤️
Deepest sympathy to her family.
I admire that she was active w friends/church & that her last moments were spent outside with her cherished doggos.
What part of don't go out did she not get?
@@babykevinxoxo I would have to say she was not using just plain ole common sense. However. I really feel for her and her family.
"I admire that she was active w friends/church"
Religious indoctrination to not think, likely killed her. It drives impaired science literacy and critical thinking.
In this case, the illogical belief you can safely ignore what you don''t understand--like the risk of lightning strikes in an open field during an electrical storm.
@@babykevinxoxo your actual name is clearly not kevin
I guess God hated her...
The last video I have of my son is on my ring camera walking out of the house before he was hit and killed by a car crossing the road.. I pray for this woman's family. The pain or losing someone you love is unbearable
Thats very sad. My condolences to you and your family.

So very sad! Breaks my heart. 💔😪
Very sad indeed. God bless them all.😭
Talk about a freak accident! My hope is that her & her fur babies didn’t suffer. So sad to hear about this. It’s especially scary because I have always loved thunderstorms, they relax me like a powerful drug. I give my condolences to her family & friends.
Nope. Once that bolt strikes you. That's it.
Of course they didn't suffer.
It happens in a matter of seconds.
Nah she wouldn’t have suffered , it happens so fast 💨 you literally don’t know what hit you . No pun intended , God sais we are all going but unfortunately we just don’t know how or when , as a spiritualist , I believe it was divine timing for her to be there , because if it wasn’t her time to go her angels 👼 would have have intervened , I know I had a divine intervention ….we all have a purpose here and when that purpose has been fulfilled well your on the next train 🚂

A couple of years ago I met a man who had been struck by lightning and survived. He was a quantity surveyor. He was working with a colleague beside a large pit when the lightening struck He said it was like being hit by a massive, heavy, hammer. It left him with memory problems and he had to take early retirement.
I know a guy in Los Alamos that was struck by lightning. He was on the outside steps of an apartment when the lightning struck. He too had cognitive problems plus physical issues and had to quit working.

True, she got lucky. Alot of people die slow painful deaths.
zero pain? she got lit up like some quesadillas
@@wickedhouston5538 I had an uncle uncle that had his toes all blown off he was hit by lightning in the arm went down his body and blew off every toe and his left foot he had surgery and he survived and it was extremely painful hopefully she went quickly
You don't always die instantly from a lightning strike. She could've been struck and then suffered for a while before dieing.
@@danieldevito6380 Well I hope she didn't feel any pain. Rest in piece.

About ten years ago, I went for a walk alone on Christmas morning. Shortly after I arrived at a park a couple miles from my house, a violent thunderstorm rolled in. No rain but lightning everywhere and nowhere to go. I don't think I've ever been more scared for my life. Be aware of the weather before you go out, people.
