Same been watching everyday for almost 2 years, can't get enough of it, I think Dan is living a dream for all of us, making 50k a month for renovating their own giant chateau/castle 😅. With such a huge amount of land , what a dream 🥲😇❤
@@nigelspackman948 i think he's said 'dream castle' as expression, not meant litteraly. But you are of course completely right that a chateau is not the same as a castle :)
In all its mundane simplicity I really enjoyed this episode. The day after. And the early beginnings of a new adventure, but first simply organise stuff and clear up. It is the part of the story left out of most novels and history books. But it is a joy to watch because we feel it. We do it. It is essential. And with every tool replaced and brush doing its cleaning work we remember the mind bending effort you undertook to reach this point. So it is satisfying to see you alone in your chateau, without your friends / partners in crime that so effortlesly became our friends, just by being who they are. So I love to see you showing the insolation materials, some temporary window action, some clever video editing. And then the preparations for gardening. And then another essential: you making time for family. And now as I think about it, I realise that this is actually real magic. With a few camera's and phones, some editing software and an internet connection, you became a friend, almost family, to half a million people all over the world. And you enriched my life. So thanks! Enjoy this moment, enjoy the time off with family, and enjoy that special feeling of preparing for the next adventure.

Thank you, Dan, for showing us that a dream is able to be achieved. If you can pull all that you have together in the past year, we can only follow in inspiration.
Who can forget the beginning! One shovel and wheelbarrow with a flat tire. Then the first time you pulled up supplies to the second floor was bricks in a grocery bag.... the good old days eh! Good for Dan and all your helpers

I have done 7 major home renovations. I worked on the first 2 with our father, an electrician AND electrical engineer. He taught me that about every 2 weeks, you have stop work, collect the tools, organize and clean up the work site. This would usually happen on a Friday afternoon. He was a very experienced man and encouraged me to treat the weekends as "time off". I am so happy I did so, especially on the second renovation as my daughter was only 1.5 years old. You don't get those days when your children are young back.
Absolutely. If you ever saw the previous place Dan worked on, you'd know he's a messy worker! It amused me one time when he was showing off his latest piece of work, and as the camera panned, a great pile of wreckage came into view 😆
We have been builders for generations in my family, a messy building site is not only annoying it is actually really dangerous too. As a kid I would get an earful when I didn’t clean up properly after my ‘projects’.
I was just thinking how amazing and strange it must feel to have not only a roof, but rooms, floors and windows as well. It must change the whole feel of the place. Enjoy your time off with the boys ❤
Isn't it grand?!! I have been watching for all this time, too, and I can't get over how amazed I am each day a new vlog gets posted! I'm so happy for them and really in awe of the workmanship and the friendships that have developed. What a team! Kudos, men!
You went from burnt walls, no floors, windows or ceilings, big trees growing inside and piles of burnt rubble that filled the basement about five feet high from end to end. And you did this all in the past 12+ months. Now you have a Chateau basically waterproofed, with doable windows and floors you can walk on. On day one, you started with a non-functional dangerous structure that was ready to be torn down and you Dan, turned it into a Chateau again. Thank you for bringing life back to the Chateau.
Ah, the sound of rain pattering on the roof! My gosh, it seems like there has been rain coming down in buckets during your work at the chateau. Congratulations on an incredible accomplishment.
You're so right, Dan. It really is an achievement! 🤚🏼👊🏼 Your place now looks more like a home. Enjoy your time with your precious and utterly adorable sons, and we'll see you...next week! Love, Jacqueline from New Zealand.

A shovel and a wheelbarrow with tons of debris to clear away in the very beginning. I remember all the trees growing inside the chateau ruin…you have come a very long way.

😮 all the rooms look and feel so very different now... first time having a room-in-a-real-house-feeling... ❤ The days when seeing you working in a chateau ruin are actually gone now 🤗🍾
I have to admit, I was one of those people that thought that you would never be able to rebuild, let alone put back the roof. Well done Dan and crew! 🎉
Taking down the climbing gear really hit home. You are certainly looking healthier I’m so pleased to see Dan. Cat must be looking after you. 😊 The roof membrane with insulation is fantastic and will help so much in keeping the chateau warmer. Great choice. Installing the Perspex is sensible and protective too. Have some fun with your boys. You truly have done so much. I’m happy to look back and more the merrier watching is just what we want for you Dan. What you have achieved is phenomenal. 👏👏👏❤️❤️❤️❤️🤩🤩🤩
You need at least 20cm of insulation wool in a roof to have a real effect, better even 30 cm, unless you use the novel silicate based insulation material which has the same effect with only a couple of cm, I doubt that this little bit of insulation will make much of a difference. Money thrown down the toilet.
I'm telling you, mate, before you know it, you'll be doing plaster and woodwork and finishing surfaces and pulling together the furnishings! You've done a huge job of work. Keep after it, it's a journey to watch!
Happy to see the roof construction and tarping finished. It must have been a special moment for all of you to see it done. Congratulations and enjoy your holidays
I would love to see reactions of all the chateau neighbors…I’m guessing at first they thought Dan was loopy, but now probably amazed at how he’s bringing the Chateau back!
💕You could make temporary doors using the Perspex on a frame either making two doors each side top & bottom OR just one door each side💕Or just cover each opening with clear plastic to let light in💕
Dear Dan, I used the same insulation sheets for my house. There are really efficient. No need to heat the house that much, 17 degree is perfect. Good choice.
@@Asphyxia-l8i Oh, my gosh, there are so many issues. You have to decide how you're going to use the house. In the original design, the kitchen was in the basement. That's not going to work in modern life. There are other similar issues, like how bedrooms and bathrooms are going to be laid out and plumbed. Also, there is the location of stairways. A house like this would normally have at least three stairways. Currently, the house just has the main staircase the originates from the ground floor. But there is no internal access to the basement and no internal access to the top room in the back or either of the side spaces. All of this has to be addressed in detail before you can even begin to lay out the electrical, heating and plumbing. You can't make that stuff up as you go along.
It is so true, this series with its protagonists is actually the biggest inspiration for our own real life 🙂 it is emitting so much positivity, this spark enlights us all with every single episode. Hold on with your dreams, always see the positive achievements and never give up! 🤗

I had a Border Collie for 14 years, your one doggie looks just like her. :D Best dog I ever had. She was my pal.
While I'm a bit sad that we won't see you for a while, you've delivered incredibly beautiful content over these past months if not years, and your boys need some extended time alone with you!! We'll be happy to check back with you when you're ready. No worries. Be safe. And thank you tons!!!
Good tidy up Dan and sealing the windows. Enjoy your days off with the kids
Looking forward to it, now you go and have fun with the children, and enjoy yourselves.
Looking good, Dan! Bravo! When I watched you gardening at LaLande, I could not tell that you had all these engineering skills! Wow! 😊❤
Dan, the re-builder: cute, entertaining, hard working visionary!
It’s totally Amazing all the work you have done!
I'm glad to see windows and doorways dried in! Thought that would be next...
Du hast bisher so tolles geleistet, da hast du dir die freie Zeit mit deinen Kindern verdient!
Ich wünsche Euch ganz wundervolle Tage!!!
I would love to see reactions of all the chateau neighbors…I’m guessing at first they thought Dan was loopy, but now probably amazed at how he’s bringing the Chateau back!
What a great attic to have a pool table and tv. Can’t call it a man cave, but what a great Retreat Room! Well done!
Congratulations on hitting this milestone! Have a wonderful mini vacation with your boys and have fun doing Christmas-y things with them!
What a lovely sound, rain on the roof!
I am so proud of you guys, it's been wonderful following you
Good to see the windows being covered. Time to get an architect on the team. You’ve gone as far as you can go with just engineering input.
What? Why? The design of the house is finished, no need for an architect.
@ layout of rooms and stairs.
@@slicksalmon6948 They are set. You don’t need an architect to replicate something that already has been designed.
Great to see Dan, Dan & Dan helping with the perspex :)
I'd like to know where he keeps the other triplets when they aren't helping out.
@@airenesmiler6624They seem to hide somewhere while Brian and Nick are there 😄
Wow, well done, what an achievement! The attic is going to seem enormous with everything cleared out. Loving your work! :)
Your positivity is infectious! Keep up the awesome work!
It is so true, this series with its protagonists is actually the biggest inspiration for our own real life 🙂 it is emitting so much positivity, this spark enlights us all with every single episode.
Hold on with your dreams, always see the positive achievements and never give up! 🤗
