      You can't. Its. Metal. It involves casting and precision.

    • @ihaznakalate9516

      @@marianaverill3424 Not necessarily. It's completely affordable to both make your own cast and get a hold of cheap metal to be molten. Precision however is needed, but that comes with practise. :-)

    to be fair,, as someone who doesnt know who you are (but will definitely check out your channel) i wouldnt say your pin is too niche. its one where your fans will understand it,, but people would still stumble across it and think it looks cool

    Ok I literally do not get vector-ing.. lol ok let’s so I’m in procreate creating a pin design, do I just sketch it first with only the outline and it not colored in, and then go vector it? Right? Because after creating the vector file I need to choose the colors for it with the Pantone swatches.... or do i design my pin on procreate , color it there, then go to vector it ? Cause won’t vectoring just give me the outline . I’m literally lost and that’s the only part I’m struggling with on making my pins

    • @Kakibot
      @Kakibot  5 лет назад +1

      In my own experience with Made by Cooper they are ok with taking a clean jpg and making a vector out of it - they accept both vector files and jpgs during the order step! Even when I sent vectors they still tend to send back an edited file (e.g. making a certain line thicker so it works for their machinery) so they don't mind spending some time tinkering with the file. (When that happens you can still review it and ask them to change it differently until you reach a point where both sides are happy). I'd recommend using the hardest brush in Procreate and minimising the amount of size variability of the stroke to create artwork that's close to how a vector would look - easier to vectorise for the graphics team on the other side!

    Tip for those especially in the US, we don’t manufacture pins here.. all factories in China and companies in the US that offer them, outsource to a factory abroad and act as a middle man. Pros and cons to this but they cost more than going direct to manufacturing factories

    Hi, my girl!!! Ok, you first made me into a watercolor obsess and now pins?!?! I'll be waiting for your Scottish ones (did I ever told you that I'm around a 30% Irish-Scotish-Gal..es? hoho!! *myheritagedna non-sponsored*). I trully enjoyed learning about the steps to make a pin and who knows, maybe mine will come one day. I will have to find the perfect sarcasm-cute ratio. Warm hugs, dear!!!!

      Awww it's been too long, you have to come up north and we can go sketch or paint or just eat ice cream >.> Also I think that you SUPER OBVIOUSLY an Irish/Scottish celtic beaut, with that amazing easy-to-burn-to-crisp complexion!

    Excellent video! Your pin is beautiful and I hope it’s been selling well. I’m wondering if you took any steps to protect your design?

    • @Kakibot
      @Kakibot  3 года назад

      Aw thank you so much! I've made a bunch of other pins since then and I consider them all of a fairly niche interest (thus not too worried about someone stealing my design), plus I believe all artwork is protected by basic laws of intellectual property - but I am also aware that there's often not much to do, especially with chinese sellers (who literally just use your manufacturer's pin mold without even having to recreate your design work).

    Is it possible to write down how thick you want the outlines to be?🧐 Because if you have five designs and each one has a slightly different size, but you use the same strokes, they’ll come out differently.🤨😭

    • @Kakibot
      @Kakibot  5 лет назад +1

      Interesting question - how I'd go about it would be telling the manufacturer the specific size of the pin (which you do when ordering anyway, but you can put a note into your prepped artwork file too) and then make sure that in illustrator I use the same line weight for different designs which I want to look the same-ish/have the same thickness of lines. When working with bitmap graphics this might a bit trickier, in that case I'd recommend letting them know this is something you need assistance with/ask them for what line thickness they went with so you can reference it in the future? (Not sure if this helped - mostly just a stream of consciousness x)

      Yes! I've had a good experience with them both times. They also currently have a long-running offer of getting 10% off your pin order when you let them stamp their own logo on the back of the metal!

      Thanks, I'm glad you appreciated it! I think the retro Japan pin is from Tokyo, there's a little souvenir store in the Solamachi mall under SkyTree that has quite a lot of them to choose from!

    does anyone know if there is a way of designing a pin digitally ? or do we draw out our ideas and then send a picture to the manufacturer ?

    • @Kakibot
      @Kakibot  5 лет назад

      Digital is ideal - it can be a vector or a raster because in my experience the manufacturers' graphic teams tend to manipulate the file anyway (to fit the technical specs for their machines)! (but I'd still say vector file is the best cause it'll need the least work on their side?)
