  • Small step with big benefits! ⬇️
A layer of air space under siding is a small step before installation that has BIG benefits for longevity - especially for siding that can absorb moisture. This is any siding material based on wood or cement, such as James Hardie, LP Smartside, brick, stone veneer, etc.
An air gap between the water resistive barrier (in our case, Zip sheathing) and the back of the siding allows a space for water to escape, and air to dry.

ABOUT US: We are Alex and Elaina, a couple in our 20s who are currently living on the 3-acre farm in southern Pennsylvania where Alex grew up. We have a garden, backyard chickens, and build or fix anything that we need to. We still work corporate day jobs, but are working to eventually leave the 9-5 lifestyle in favor of a self-built, debt-free, homestead on 6 acres nearby.
We upload a RUclips video each week (usually Sunday morning), and post daily on Instagram!

Don’t they make/sell bricks, breeze blocks in the USA? No wander that entire towns are flattened after hurricanes and tornados. I understand that people want to build cheap homes, but lives are more important!
